ABOUT QUITO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is a city that contrasts with harmony its historical and cultural attractions with its constant growth and modern transformation, making the city a great metropolis in which the only constant is the warmth of its people.
This unique characteristic has positioned Quito as a major touristic and business destination in South America.
The Quito International Airport, operated and managed by Corporación Quiport, is the main gateway to Ecuador. It opened in 2013 as the only greenfield airport in Latin America and the Caribbean. Thanks to its technical characteristics, the airport has allowed an important increase in connectivity for Quito and the country, while offering more efficient operations for airlines and enhanced services for passengers.
Quito International Airport is the first airport in the Americas to achieve the 5 stars category awarded by Skytrax, making it one of 17 “5 star airports” worldwide.

Quito International Airport is one of the 17 airports worldwide and the only airport in the Latin America and the Caribean to have achieved the 5star quality service rating from Skytrax, the most prestigious air transport services auditing company worldwide. The 5-star rating is the highest certification Skytrax awards.

The potential to develop the air connectivity offered by the Mariscal Sucre Airport is very important and has allowed us to achieve significant growth in this area. This is also possible thanks to an efficient route development strategy based on understanding the needs of airlines and showing them the connectivity opportunities for Quito and Ecuador.
OUR CONNECTIVITY STRATEGY INCLUDES:
Partnering with key stakeholders, local and national government to promote route development.
Working with each airline to develop business cases to analyze potential new routes.
Providing marketing support to promote any new frequency or route with a wide variety of communication and promotional platforms that may include airport events, magazine ads, in-airport advertising and social media posts.
SUSTAINED TRAFFIC GROWTH
After the dramatic drop in passenger traffic due to the COVID 19 pandemic on a global scale, the volume of travelers passing through the Mariscal Sucre International Airport registers a strong recovery. According to our forecasts, 2023 is key in the recovery of international traffic and in 2024 we expect to exceed 2019 traffic volume. Since the resumption of commercial operations, in June 2020, our traditional destinations in the United States, Latin America and Europe have been reactivated, and we have incorporated new destinations such as San José - Costa Rica, Buenos Aires - Argentina, and Santo Domingo - Dominican Republic.
The main direct destinations that represented close to 90% of international traffic during 2022 were:
Panama City
Bogota
Lima
Madrid
Miami
• Mexico City
Atlanta
Fort Lauderdale
Amsterdam

Air cargo traffic in Quito Airport continues to grow, including new arrivals in 2019 such as Ethiopian Cargo and DHL. In 2020, we welcomed Air Canada Cargo and in 2022, Kalitta started operations in our aiport.
