The term "rust" refers to the effects of deindustrialization, economic decline, population loss and urban decay on these areas, which are attributed to the shrinking of once powerful industrial sectors, particularly steel manufacturing, automobile manufacturing and coal mining.

LOGO

Just like the client's quest for a new lifestyle, like a plant growing in the cracks, this space gives a sense of natural vitality in the rough industrial city. Combined with the concept of "one step one view" of Chinese gardens, a garden-style gallery is designed to arouse people's curiosity for space exploration.

Emma is from China and wanted to integrate the landscaping methods of Chinese gardens into the design. Walls are used to block views, and then guide visitors to explore the space with different forms of doors and windows. The galery is filled with natural elements and double high space to evoke a sense of the wider world.
