COFFEE SHOP

Concept Statement

To design a coffee shop located on the Mississippi River by the Stone Arch Bridge, elements will be brought in from the urban Minneapolis scene. Bright accent colors and expressive art will create a youthful energy, while a sophisticated color palette and contemporary furniture will allow all visitors to feel like they belong in the coffee shop. Geometric organic shapes will be repeated throughout the space to give a stable yet free feel. Verticals and a minimalistic design will create a open airy space that is furthered by daylighting and light colors. There will be a large focus on the local community, both in terms of people and in the construction of the coffee shop, as well as sustainability. The urban Minneapolis scene will be brought in through the use of reclaimed materials from around the city, a clean look that reflects the built environment, and local graffiti art. The coffee shop will act as a point of interest for tourist who want to see ‘urban Minneapolis’ as well as a place for locals to gather and share their interests around local art and music.
