March 2012-Present Shanghai, China/ Phoenix, AZ Freelance Landscape Designer  As an independent landscape designer I collaborate with different design firms as well as land development companies on projects throughout China and am currently working in the Phoenix, AZ area. Major projects included the SuperBrand Mall in Luoyang, Henan province, China and the Daqing International High School in Daqing, Heilongjiang province, China. While making use of my skills with AutoCAD, Adobe CS, Sketch Up and Microsoft PowerPoint, I have also developed proficiency with marketing and networking with fellow designers, firms and allied professionals to succeed in an independent freelance role. I am currently developing proficiency with 3DS Studio Max and Lumion software.

August 2011- March 2012 EarthAsia Design Group (EADG) Shanghai, China Landscape Designer  At EADG I performed in a dual capacity between conceptual design and public relations/marketing roles. I provided Western design ideas for landscape architecture and urban planning projects as well as guided marketing productions and project presentations and provided relevant assistance with English translation. I have experience presenting projects to some of China’s largest land development companies, as well as providing conceptual design direction for mixed-use projects in Shanghai, Wuhan and Chengdu, among other locations. I was also responsible for scientific research as it pertains to various ecologicallyoriented projects, as well as writing documenting such work. June 2010- June 2011 21 Ct Landscape Design Co., Ltd. Nanjing, China Landscape Designer  My duties here included bringing Western design ideas and theories together with traditional Chinese thought to render unique conceptual landscape designs in residential, corporate and government projects. I functioned with foreign and Chinese designers, as well as the clients, throughout the schematic design (SD) and design development (DD) phases, providing technical and English translational quality control for the final construction documents (CD). Major projects included the Benxi and Luohe New City Plans, and the Xugong Corp. headquarters.


July 2009- June 2010 Estrella Environmental Design Goodyear, AZ Landscape Designer  As a Landscape Designer for EED, a small residential and commercial design/build firm in the West Valley, I was responsible for site analysis and subsequent landscape design following sustainable design guidelines. I began each project meeting with the client(s) to discuss design direction and intent, followed by conceptual design presentation and final sale closing. Duties included project management during the construction process with direction and design modification(s) as required. I received hands-on construction experience during this project management phase to include hardscape, softscape (plantings), and irrigation and landscape lighting installations. August 2005 – July 2009 URS Corporation Phoenix, AZ Graduate Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer  As Graduate Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer for the Community Development Group at URS Corporation’s Phoenix office, I was responsible for project site analysis and subsequent planting, irrigation and hardscape designs. Working under the direction of senior landscape architects and in collaboration with other allied professionals such as urban planners, architects, civil engineers, geologists, land surveyors, etc. I utilized my knowledge and skills in project conceptual and schematic design (SD) as well as interacting with the client(s) throughout the design development (DD) phase. As each project progressed toward completion, I was responsible for the preparation of the deliverable construction document (CD) package pertaining to each project. Throughout the design process I communicated as required with federal, state, county and municipal officials for permit applications, variances, legal information, etc., creating important networking relationships useful for my position. I functioned under the direction of professional engineers and civil designers performing the design and graphic rendering of civil engineering site information such as grading and drainage, utility, horizontal control and pavement plans, as well as 404 wash analyses for storm water management if applicable. I performed native plant inventories using GPS instrumentation and subsequent project management during the building process. Examples of recent projects I have worked on include the engineering planning documents for METRO’s Light Rail extensions through the cities of Mesa and Tempe, the Tres Rios Regulating Wetlands in southwest Phoenix, the Indian Bend Road improvements in Scottsdale and the City of Goodyear’s Foothills Community Park. I functioned in a central role in the planting and irrigation design for Gray Development Corporation’s condominium complexes southwest of 68 St. and Mayo Blvd., as well as the adjacent 404 wash improvements and new box culvert. I performed the Landscape Architectural site survey and analysis portion of the Installation Appearance Plan (IAP) for the Naval Air Facility (NAF) El Centro for URS’s San Diego office. I also functioned as support for Phase 1 environmental site assessments beginning the due diligence process and subsequent technical report writing for various projects. I have developed a proficiency working with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite programs, as well as a working knowledge of Bentley Microstation and ArcGIS. Currently in pursuit of my professional registration as a Landscape Architect, having successfully passed LARE A, B and D.
