Bernal E. Smith Club Kirby High School

Shyhiem Harris is in the 11th grade at Kirby High School. He has played on the basketball team for two years and his other favorite hobbies include video games and chess. He is a leader in the Club where he inspires others to exercise good judgment and the need to comply when teamwork is needed. Shyhiem volunteers at the Club on several occasions helping to clean up or pick-uptrash. He helped plant a Community Garden at Kirby Middle School and he was involved with a Community Planning Project for the community of Hickory Hill.

Hermeisha Perkins

Porter Goodwill Club Booker T. Washington

Hermeisha Perkins, 17 years old, is a senior at Booker T. Washington where she holds a 3.8 grade point average and is in the top 10% of her class. She takes all honors courses including Honors Calculus and English Literature. Hermeisha is a self-proclaimed fashionable yet athletic person who has been playing sports her whole life including basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading (where she was selected as co-captain). Nine months out of the year you can find her practicing with at least one of her teams which leads her to a healthy lifestyle of working out at least 4 times a week, saying no to all drugs & alcohol, and choosing healthy alternatives to junk food. She has been a member of the Porter Goodwill Club for 10 years where she enjoys participating in the Girl Talk Program and being an active volunteer in the Kids Café helping serve meals and washing dishes. She says that the Porter Goodwill Club is her favorite place to be and her second home.

Jaylan Sims

Sycamore View Club White Station High School

Jaylan Sims is a junior at White Station High School and has been a member of the Sycamore View Club for eight years. Jaylan currently holds a 4.0 GPA and has been designated as a Tennessee State Certified Gifted Student. He is extremely active in various Club programs such as the intramural football and basketball leagues, Keystone Club where he serves as President, Triple Play, and Passport to Manhood. He is the captain of the basketball team this year where he says he always leads by example, never taking credit for the successes but always taking responsibility for the failures. Jaylan says that the Club inspires him to give back and give from his heart.
