Line and group dancing

Pickelball

Dance is for all ages! We enjoy providing Greenville with many different dance opportunities that are not only for fun, but a unique way to get fit!

Pickleball is a sport that uses a paddle and a lightweight, plastic whiffle ball. It combines aspects of badminton, tennis and ping-pong. The game is played on a shortened and narrowed tennis court, singles or doubles. Its like ping pong on a tennis court! It's easy to learn, great fun and good exercise. Loaner paddles and balls will be provided. Free for anyone 18 or older who wants to participate! Pickelball meets on the tennis courts of Gower Park from 8am until noon.

Downtown Line Dancing: In 45 minutes, participants learn dance steps for popular social line dances, such as Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, Tush Push, The Wobble and Good Time. Those who wish to go beyond these basic dances may extend their time for an additional hour of instruction in more advanced dances. (Tuesdays 6-8) Lindy Hop Dance: Partnering with the Greenville Lindy Hoppers, we are offering Lindy Hop at the Sears Shelter! Participants may pay per class or for the entire 5-week session by registering online. The Greenville Lindy Hoppers are an all-volunteer group dedicated to promoting and preserving historic swing era dancing in the Upstate of South Carolina, with an emphasis on Lindy hop and Lindy hoprelated styles. This includes dances such as Lindy Charleston, ’20s Charleston, Balboa, East Coast swing, West Coast swing, and blues. (Thursdays 711pm) Blues Dancing: In partnership with Greenville Blues, we are offering blues dancing at the Sears Recreation Center! Blues dancing is a social dance where you'll learn to groove out to music you can hear in lots of places! Blues dancing comes from traditional blues music, has strong southern roots, is easy to pick up, and can be done with a partner or solo! (Wednesday 7-11pm) All classes are $4 for Greenville residents and $5 for non-residents and are available for ages 18 and up. 4
