Riding Waves Mega Trend
This trend took to the seas as designers took inspiration from vibrant coral reefs and nautical blue hues .This trend played a large role in the Print Mix mini trend that surfaced during 2012. These citrus tones of coral and melodic prints of the sea contraste to create an interesting visual statements when paired with neon and asymetric graphic patterns.

Pretty in Punk Mega Trend
This trend was youth driven, playing on the black on black tones of punk rock style while adding feminine touches. Fresh faced makeup, soft waves, top nots and shear fabrics contrasted the heavy pyramid studding and hardward accessories that defined this trend. The Ombre mimi trend was also significant. Gradient wash was not only trending in clothing, but this trend took the overall aproach, transending even to hair and nail syles.

International exploration was the overwhelming tone of 2011/2012. Designers like Chanel took the front stage with Bollywood inspired collections. This trend displayed an impressive amount of embelishment, which played nicely into the hardware and metalic mini trend that was happening during this time.

With the Futura and Pretty in Punk trends, these past years we have seen a shift towards minimalism and graphics, paired with heavy metal. In reaciton to this the Unrefined mega trend for 2013 reinvents the natural.Taking cues from both trends by featuring metalics. Unrefined hints at the grunge trend that was popular throughout the 1990s. With worn testures, unfinished edges and unraveled knits, this trend is tactile. Unrefined is earthly innovation for, the senses, while hinting at the alternative punk styles seen in this past season.

Key looks for this trend include a sinched waist, traditional obi belts, print mixes, and structural jackets which hint at origami folding.

The Northen naitons will drive the feeling of Dark Romance, Thereby fostering the Slavic Brocade mega trend. The detail and embelishments of this trend will be reminicent of the the “hand crafted” look of Bollywood Babe. In contrast to the geometric prints of Tribal City, floral applicays dictate the feminine feel of Slovic Brocade. This desire for Dark Romance comes as no surprise to those who endulged in the vampire craze that defined 2011 and 2012.
