The custom cabinetry holds all of the television and audio components. The cabinet doors slide back into the cabinet making it possible for the components to be controlled via remotes. When the components are not in use, the cabinet doors shut to hide them. The drawers are fitted to store cassettes, VHS’s, DVDs and CDs in an organized fashion.

One Point Perspective

Hand drafting teaches one how to visualize spaces three dimensionally. In order to create accurate drawings that look realistic, one must understand how different perspectives are developed and how to determine a vanishing point. This hand drafted one point perspective drawing of a kitchen renovation shows understanding of three dimensional space planning.

Plan Oblique 30/60: Assembled

A cocktail table is a piece of furniture that can really make or break a living area. This original design provides for maximum flexibility. Consumers can purchase as many single modules as they want; every piece will fit with its counterpart in any form desired. It will even make a statement standing alone.

When designing a restaurant, it is smart to consider including a bar for higher profit. For the remodel and expansion of Nick’s Luncheonette, the new bar area was a main focus. These renovation plans require new construction so current code requirements for ADA accessibility are implemented throughout.

ADA Bathrooms

Bathrooms in public spaces should be designed following ADA codes and requirements. This plan and elevations illustrate the neccessary turnaround and sink approach space. Fixtures are shown to be the proper distance from the wall. Grab bars are correct heights, lengths, and located appropriately according to the toilet position.

This project was to redesign a home for a transgenerational family. The goal was to make this house fully accessible for each of its residents; three to seventy-five years old. The grandparents of the George family are getting older and the grandfather is wheelchair bound. On the first floor they can live with the rest of the family and be entirely independent. Space is addressed for later installation of an elevator, and both the second and third floors are already accessible for when this installation occurs. Designing universally is a smart decision so people of all ages can live comfortably and nobody feels disadvantaged. This was a team project.

This team project was to redesign a major pathway on the academic side of The University of New Haven campus. Making it more aesthetically pleasing and a desirable meeting place was the main objective. Analyzing the paths of travel and the path of the sun was neccessary for a logical design. The space is currently unused other than the existing walkway. There is much potential to create a new gathering area and more outdoor seating for students and faculty to enjoy.

Inspiration

This project was to design a retail store with a unique shopping experience. The inspiration was the hat on the page to the left. This project was entirely hand drafted and rendered. Nonpareil is a lingerie shop for classy, sophisticated, beautiful women. Customers can find a wide variety of styles of bras, panties, sleepwear, seasonal clothes, perfume and lotions. You will not find a single mannequin or poster of a perfect model in Nonpareil. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes will feel comfortable shopping and stay confident of how beautiful they are. With every purchase customers recieve a special gift; a small bag of nonpareil chocolate candies to make them smile and be sure to come back again.

Office Design

Reception Area

This project was to design a satellite office for a graphic design company. It focused on sustainability based on the building’s location and on preventing glare to ensure employee comfort and increase productivity. The plans were created in AutoCAD, and all renderings were digitally created in Revit and enhanced in Photoshop. The new Landor Associates headquarters in San Francisco, California, is a fresh, dynamic facility. As the second location in the founding city, this office will attract bright modern designs, clients, and employees. This building provides an impressive welcoming reception, professional meeting areas, casual gathering places, and private areas for employees to work independently.

33

Two-Dimensional Interpretation

The abstract painting above by Wassily Kandinsky was the inspiration for this project. Overlaying the different elements and principles of design found in this piece resulted in the two-dimensional interpretation on the top right. From there the threedimensional model was created and used as an abstract concept for the office design.

- Bike Rack encourages multimodal transportation - Light Shelves prevent glare and bounce natural light further into the space - Rooftop garden helps with temperature control/insulation - Skylight in the center provides more natural light in the office - Automated Windows open to let cool breezes in at night, allow for ventilation to reduce energy cost and consumption

Brainstorming & Break Area

Whenever employees need to get away from their desks to think, collaborate with their co-workers, or just take a break, this combined brainstorming and breakroom area is the perfect place to go. The Mediascape Lounge from Steelcase provides for a great area to hang out in. It can also double as a meeting space or an informal presentation area since up to fifteen people can sit and face the wall-hung screen. This area is conveniently located between the collaborative work area on the main level and also the beverage and snack bar.

Collaborative Cube Work Stations in Collaborative Work Area

This project was a team project to design an Academic Library on a university campus. It focused on innovation and fullfilling the needs of the users. The plans were created in AutoCAD, and all renderings were digitally created in Revit and enhanced in Photoshop. The Marvin K. Peterson Library, which is located on the University of New Haven campus, is designed to be the campus “cloud of information and recreation. The convenient and interactive facility acts as a home base for the campus community where users can work, eat, socialize and relax. It is a place to recharge and refuel not only devices, but your mind and body. The library is centrally located near both the residential and academic buildings on campus; it acts as a center that combines both education and student life.

We also had the opportunity to do something for Melissa’s little sister. Stephanie is eight years old; we rearranged her bedroom and gave her some new accessories. We were able to find her some new bedding, the fun spheres hanging from her ceiling, and an organizer/display for her many stuffed animals.

University of New Haven Art From The Heart is a community service club on campus. Throughout the year this organization holds different fundraising events in order to raise $1,500. Circle of Care then connects this club with a local child suffering from cancer so they can use the money to redecorate that child’s room.

Art From The Heart

Making A Child Smile

In November, 2013 we had the opportunity to donate our time and funds to Melissa Mauro, an 11 year old from Old Lyme, CT who is battling Ewing Sarcoma. As treasurer of the club I was a huge part of the organization and completion of the room redecoration. Using my passion to help a child who is suffering and make her happy was an incredibly rewarding experience.
