GUMBALL 3000 A charity auction of sporting, celebrity and automotive memorabilia, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the rally Saturday 18th to 26th May 2013


Gumball 3000 Where it all began Gumball 3000 was created in 1999 by ex-racing driver, designer and British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper; and was born from Cooper’s vision to combine cars, music, fashion and entertainment to create a pop culture lifestyle brand of the future.

Cooper derived the word ‘Gumball’ from New York artist Andy Warhol after he used it to describe how the public chew up and spit out popular culture like chewing gum; and ‘3000’ as a nod to Cooper’s fascination with the future, particularly at a time when the world was about to enter the 21st Century. Cooper decided to launch his ϐ ϐ him on an unforgettable road-trip around Europe to experience an adrenaline-fuelled adventure, driving incredible cars and hosting glamorous parties each evening.

This road-trip and its legendary parties – attended by the likes of Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Johnny Knoxville – was the ϐ Ǯ ͵ͲͲͲ ǯǤ catching the attention of the press and public alike, the rally achieved mainstream media coverage across celebrity, fashion and automotive publications, and graced the covers of GQ, Esquire, FHM, CAR and The Financial Times. By 2001, the 6-day rally was televised internationally on MTV and ϐ ǡ rise to the term ‘Gumball 3000’ reaching the top of the Yahoo search engines, a result of which catapulted sales of Gumball 3000 branded T-shirts and baseball caps from hundreds of dollars to millions almost overnight. The Gumball 3000 brand was rapidly gaining the recognition Cooper had set out to achieve.

Day Three // Lot Three Monday 20 May - St. Petersburg The W Hotel

Hublot Big Bang 44mm Chronograph Automatic Men’s Watch Day three sees the entrants disembark the ship in Turku, Finland and progress on to Helsinki to watch snow sports displays coutesy of Battery Energy Drinks before continuing onto Premier Park racetrack for a course in advanced ‘rally-style’ driving. Following high octane track pursuits, the convoy begins Ǧ their way through the border and into the beautiful city of St Petersburg. Here, a rooftop party awaits – overlooking the ǡ all of its architectural splendour. ϐ impressive, and our partners at Hublot have provided a wonderful timepiece aesthetically strong with bold black lines, ϐ ϐ Ǥ perfect memoir to a once in a lifetime trip.

True to Hublot’s trademark concept of Ǯ ǯǡ ϐ that a Big Bang has been made entirely ϐ Ǥ

The construction of its 44mm case diameter and matt dial called for a very special expertise in the working of ͳͲͲΨ ϐ Ǥ black HUB4100 movement (black PVD, ruthenium and black gold coating) extends the All Black Carbon concept to the whole piece, for a light, intriguing, almost stealthy look. This is all rounded ǡ Ǧϐ and comfortable by virtue of its black natural rubber inner surface, bringing ϐ model. This timepiece includes a double protection seal ensuring water resistance down to 100 meters/330 feet and boasts approximately 42 hours of power reserve. Made at Hublot Manufacture in Nyon, Switzerland.
