The pedigree & sales tabs are extremely useful when looking at 2yo races and being able to view the newspaper the evening before - Ian
I use the race replay facility to review a horse's form to help to analyse races. I also use the bloodstock section to follow the sales and stallion results, and the extended racecards which show all details including a horse's breeding - Glenn

Does Magic Millions victory guarantee sales ring success?
The 2016 winner Capitalist (Written Tycoon) had his first yearlings offered at last year’s sale. His allure was of course also enriched by the fact he also won the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), although of course first season sires create a “wait and see” approach from many. Still, he was the highest-grossing first season sire at the sale, with 34 lots realising $8.15 million. He averaged $240,000, some $7,000 below the sale’s overall average, and ranking fourth among first season sires behind American

Millions Cup (RL, 1400m) winner Vega One – while $700,000 was reached for a filly out of 2003 MM 2YO Classic winner Regimental Gal (General Nediym). In 2004 the race was won by Dance Hero, a super galloper, but a gelding. But the colt who ran second to him has built quite the legacy Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice). Though he’d turned 18, Not A Single Doubt hit a Gold Coast sale peak last year. He had finished top-six in the Australian sires’ table in the previous two seasons. Classique Legend was starting to emerge, but so too a blistering two-year-old colt who’d sold for $550,000 at the Coast a year earlier – Farnan, the soon-to-be Golden Slipper winner. Buoyed by all this, Not A Single Doubt’s average smashed through $300,000 for the first time in 2020, hitting $344,500 – well above the sale average of $247,000. His top lot was a

O
f all of the first season sires, Jukebox (Snitzel) has perhaps the most colonial pedigree of them all, with his dam’s side
all-Australian for more than 110 years. The family has been prolific in South Australia and Western Australia, with dam Jestatune (Rory’s Jester) and second dam Umatune (Umatilla) both Listed winners in Perth. Jestatune is also a half-sister to recently-retired prolific Western Australia and Northern Territory performer, Group 1 winner Ihtsahymn (Ihtiram). Jukebox was a Group 3 winner himself, a precocious two-year-old and early three-year-old. He has three yearlings in the catalogue. RACE RECORD

FOALED IN 2014 | BAY STALLION, BY FASTNET ROCK (DANEHILL) - LEGALLY BAY, BY SNIPPETS
T
COOLMORE STUD, NSW
outed by many as the potential heir to Fastnet Rock (Danehill), Merchant Navy boasts the pedigree and the form page to suggest
he should have every chance to fill his sire’s tremendous shoes. A breathtaking winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), flying home from a seemingly impossible position to defeat a field that included five Group 1 winners and many of the best three-year-olds around, Merchant Navy then became a dual hemisphere performer by adding the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr 1, 6f ) at Royal Ascot. Out of the Group 1-placed Legally Bay (Snippets) and a sister to Coolmore Stud Stakes runner-up Jolie Bay, Merchant Navy boasts a similar pedigree profile to his sire. He will be represented by 25 yearlings at the Gold Coast.

potent mix of some of the world’s leading bloodlines with proven Australian pedigrees resulted in Group 3 winner Overshare,
who boasts one of the most interesting profiles among the freshmen stallions. By one of Australia’s leading stallions in I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), the Spendthrift Australia stallion is out of the Group 3 placegetter Savannah’s Choice, a Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) half-sister to Japanese blue hen Cesario (Special Week). On the track, Cesario was a champion filly, taking both the Japanese Oaks and the American Oaks, but her reputation has soared in the breeding barn where she has produced three Group 1 winners: Epiphaneia (Symboli Kris S), Saturnalia (Lord Kanaloa) and Leontes (King Kamehameha). Another half-sister Kirovskaya (French Deputy) produced classy Sydney mare Irithea (Snitzel). Overshare will have one yearling at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. RACE RECORD

ARROWFIELD STUD, NSW
n a short racetrack career, Arrowfield Stud’s Pariah (Redoute’s Choice) - a $700,000 yearling who raced in the James Harron green and gold - was
able to win two pivotal races in the Canonbury Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) and the San Domenico Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m), while he also managed to finish runner-up in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) behind Catchy (Fastnet Rock). Add that to a pedigree which descends from the champion broodmare Summoned (Crowned Prince),
with
close
relatives
including
champion filly Melito (Redoute’s Choice) and Group 1 placegetter You’re So Good (Savabeel), and he shapes as a successful stallion prospect. Throw in that the family has produced stallions like Summoned’s sons Zeditave (The Judge) and Alannon (Noalcoholic) as well as the consistent Jet Spur (Flying Spur) and there are a number of ticks for Pariah. The bay is well-represented with 28 yearlings to go under the hammer.

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION FOALED IN 2013 | BAY STALLION, BY SNITZEL (REDOUTE'S CHOICE) - BALLET D'AMOUR, BY STRAVINSKY

NEWGATE FARM, NSW
measure of Russian Revolution’s sheer speed is the fact that he became the first horse since the great Schillaci (Salieri) in 1992 to win
both The Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m) and the Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m), widely considered the fastest races in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. Russian Revolution achieved the feat across seasons, too, making him a Group 1 winner at three and four. Add in a victory in what is one of the leading stallion-making three-year-old events, the Roman Consul Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m), and Russian Revolution has a lot of positives to his name, especially given that his wins in those races saw him defeat horses like Redzel (Snitzel), Astern (Medaglia d’Oro), Capitalist (Written Tycoon), She Will Reign (Manhattan Reign), English (Encosta De Lago) and Hellbent (I Am Invincible). While he may track back to a family filled with stamina, the son of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) is all speed and looks certain to produce precocious types. Russian Revolution has 35 yearlings in the catalogue. RACE RECORD

racetrack, Spieth’s (Thorn Park) race record could just as easily have contained multiple Group

rather than a pair of placings in
the Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) and the Darley Classic (Gr 1, 1200m) with a little bit of luck. While Spieth was restricted to sprinting trips, never stretching out beyond 1400 metres, his three-quarter brother Star Of The Seas (Ocean Park) has been placed in four Group 1 races over the tough Randwick 1600 metres. His dam Stella Livia (Titus Livius) is also a half-sister to 2000-metre Group 1 winner and 2400-metre Group 1 runner-up Ransom O’War (Red Ransom), so his pedigree creates some intriguing questions for prospective buyers. Eleven yearlings by Spieth are catalogued for sale.

Group 3 winner and Group 1 placegetter on the track, Supido will be given the opportunity to fill the void left by the death of
his sire Sebring (More Than Ready). Supido boasts a fascinating pedigree, with his dam Lady Succeed (Brian’s Time) a winner on dirt in Japan. Supido’s third dam Coup De Folie (Halo) has proven to be quite the matriarch, featuring among the first four dams of nine Group 1 winners, including Group 1-producing stallions Machiavellian (Mr Prospector) and Bago (Nashwan). Supido will have seven yearlings in the sale.

lueblood Time Test is another son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) to have yearlings go through an Australian sales ring, seeking to
follow in the footsteps of Night Of Thunder, who exceeded all expectations with his only Australian crop.
