11th May 2012 Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi service in our school is one of the major problems students are currently facing. They are very disappointed with the service as they expect a good one as they have paid for it in September 2011. Having met some teachers it is clear that they are also concerned about this issue and as they also find it difficult to connect in classrooms. Personally I raised this matter a couple of times before but unfortunately the council was too passive to investigate this problem seriously. From April 2012 onwards the council decided to put this issue on top of his agenda. I have personally met with Mr. Keith Vassallo who explained what is causing the problem and provided a simple solution: “Basically, the Wi-Fi repeaters installed in the school are insufficient for the current network. Their range is very limited. Adding to the problem, certain repeaters are repeating the signal of a repeater before them, rather than the source router. What needs to be done is to pass cabling to a number of repeaters from the main router. These repeaters will then broadcast Wi-Fi. The council feels that this problem should be taken seriously and investing in a good Wi-Fi system is a must. It has numerous advantages both to the students and also to the teachers.
