PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Robert was Assistant District Attorney for El Paso County (where he was in charge of all trial attorneys and in charge of the appellate division) until 1990 when he was elected Judge of the 120th District Court of Texas where he served through 2002. He has twice been named Outstanding Jurist of the year by the El Paso Young Lawyers Association as well as by the El Paso Mexican-American Bar Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Repertory Theater Organization. He has authored and co-authored articles published in the Texas Bar Journal and other legal and historical publications. He has been a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education and judicial education seminars. Annually, Robert teaches the legal ethics seminar for the El Paso County Bar Association. He has chaired the Crime Victims and Witnesses Committee of the Texas State Bar.
