NON STANDARD TERRITORIES

NON STANDARD TERRITORIES
DESCRIPTION Non standard territories is my master degree project. Non standard means everything outside the common definition, this is why we choose the area of Castel Volturno. Working on Castel Volturno means to work on a complex area where anarchy takes the place of the rules. This project develops on different scales, starting from Castel Volturno and going into the deep. Working with a Masterplan is not the right way to develop a project in Villaggio Coppola, this is why our purpose was to build a toolbox exploring with 3 scenarios the possibilities that this toolbox offers to us. The first scenario is a project on Parco Saraceno, one of the dangerous area in Villaggio Coppola. The basic idea is to trasform this place with a long process where the first step is a temporary market, this temporary market wants to transform the idea of the Parco Saraceno that will be a new big polifunctional area, with a Market in the public floors. This is not a ex novo project but is a project that works on the existing buildings. The idea is simple and is based on additions. Every addition trasforms the typological of the existing buildings. Parco Saraceno is composed by three big elements. A Residential complex, an hotel and a tourist complex. Every addition is a solution for the project, a porch, two public stairs and a canopy. Project wants to demonstrate that it is possible to regenerate an area standing on the side of the people.

PINOCCHIO’S LIBRARY BY YAC

PINOCCHIO’S LIBRARY BY YAC
DESCRIPTION The library is conceived as a continous experience for the child: a journey of education through different blocks, in a village devoted to culture and leisure, both essential for children’s growth as we learn from Pinocchio’s tale. The learning process eims to involve children’s interests and senses: reading, making, listening are the basis of the designed spaces. These spacese are gathered along the central path, from wich the recreation areas diverge until they prevail in the park: children can escape the path of knowledge but even in the park, where they are caught in a maze of paths, they have experiences of life until the maze, just like the talking cricket, gets they back in the righteous way. The different blocks are aggregated to determine continous space inside, in wich double height rooms are lit from the skylight above. The continous library is the path leading to culture and learning but it is not the only one. As an allegory of life, education come from experience and choices. This is why the spaces offered by the new library are designed to maximize user’s choice of experience. The library is connected to the park at the different floors, both visually an physically. The ground floor is designed to be the areas where children can learn by other. Adults and parents can take part of children’s journey through the library.

CHIESA SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE
DESCRIPTION The project of the new parish complex takes inspiration from the reform desired by the Second Vatican Council and compares and measures, with two pre-existing areas of intervention: the historic church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the core of the Catholic community of Casarea and the area indicated from the announcement; founding elements of a process of reappropriation and characterization of the community sharing spaces, a few meters away from each other and of which the need for a spiritual and physical connection was clear from the beginning. The new Church is placed in the area of intervention and calls all the faithful to gather, in a space shaped to emphasize and raise the moments of sharing the community and to recall the previous sacred seat. To emphasize this concept of memory and testimony, there is the clear intent to preserve the whole nature of the lot, including the paving and the differences in level. The parish complex thus becomes the pulsating nucleus of the faith of this community not only during the liturgical calendar but also in daily life and events. The plant is located on the mezzanine floor to testify to the idea of a church that stands on a podium and rises upward, ready to welcome and embrace its faithful, connecting to the space in front and on the lower level; the new and rediscovered churchyard thus becomes a place devoid of identity in a filter between sacred space and community space.

MIMESI
DESCRIPTION Mimesi is the last step before the master degree project. The site of this laboratory is in Miliscola a little fraction of Monte di Procida. This place near the coast is a so complex area with a strong potentiality. The request of the project was to design a plaza that has to replace the parking area near the coastline. At the same time people in Miliscola needs something more, not only a plaza but a landmark that will develop the new area. The idea of the project was to read the project as a plaza and as a door to the natural area next to the site. The function was suggested by the people of the place. In Monte di Procida there are a lot of thermal baths, natural and artificial. So the idea was to design a low height building with a public plaza on the roof. The coiche to call this project Mimesi is based on some important aspects of the project, first of all the materials of the facade, blocks of tuff like the mountain of Monte Grillo. The second aspect is the connection with the morphology of the site, the project tick from the mountain. An other element of the project is the pier, designed as public pools using the sea water. This pier allows disable people to take a safe bath . The facade design and the exterior material is based on simple but important elements like bioclimate architecture, big window oriented to the south, with skylight on the other site to excrete hot air.

DESCRIPTION
The aspect of the contemporary Naples takes it’s shape from the formal and informal architecture. The Ippodameo texture it’s the starting point for the development of this city, but, the every informal action determines the over structure of the city. This is why our starting point for this project is the mix of formal and informal architecture. Starting with an analsys on density the design of the project takes the shape of the city, a big urban court with a big residential building that sourrounds the court. The composition could be divided in two steps, the first one is the formal shape, where an articulated bulding, the second one is the informal shape, where elements with different composition a structure shows the overwrite of the ancient city. The new structure underlines the functional part of the building where u can find the vertical connection system. At the same time the interpretation of the ancient architecture is marked in 3 elements, the basement, the arcued porch and the “superfetazione”. In the first floor we find the public functions, and on the upper floors we put the student’s houses.
