ISSUES In Indonesia, there were 133,000 elementary schools in the year 2012, yet according to Ministry of Education, 75% of them did not meet the standard requirements (Wahyuni, 2014). Classrooms are still too teacher-centered with no gap for students aspirations, and creativity (Soefijanto, 2015).

Then new volume is being substracted based on its main entrance and also visibility to the courtyard. This has resulted a meandering circulation that leads to the core tubular volume of the building.
The new volume is created with the ideology of creating more dynamic and irregular volume that represents the overall concept of the project. Further, the new volume is also aimed at building connection between the outdoor and indoor through an open and naturally-ventilated atria.

According to old Indian culture, sitting on the floor while eating may bring handful of advantages to both health and the relationship of the dinners. Sitting on the floor, is believed to create a more relaxed way of eating, which then contributes to stronger bonding time among dinners. Additionally, it also contributes to the dinners’ health, from which the move they make while eating on the low table is considered the move in yoga class!

04 Capital Residence Condo
Jakarta, Indonesia Project under Sixthree Studio. (sixthreestudio.com)
CONCEPT STATEMENT To create a minimalistic contemporary and user-centric design for a small family with comfort and efficiency in mind. The goal is to achieve a “homey feeling” and space that personally reflects the users through contemporary design and neutral color scheme.
USERS Middle-aged couple (in their 50s) , an adult daughter (age 26), and teen son (age 18), and a helper.
CLIENTS REQUIREMENTS In their new home, the user wished to have a simple design with the wine cooler integrated into the living room. The new home would also provide more storage area as part of the designer’s response towards what was lacking in their old home during the site visit.
23
REGULAR SEATING
Living room is one of the most, if not the most important part of the room beside bedroom, that would be exposed during party or dinner nights. As part of the user’s requirement to integrate wine cooler in this area, it is then designed within the entertainment unit with the rest lifted from the floor, aligned with the TV Rack to create a less heavy and more balanced look.
MOOD BOARD
24
DINING ROOM Dining area, is where lots of family communication would happen. That is why it is very fundamental for a dining room to be as comfortable as possible. In this project, designer uses light to create a relaxing ambience to the room and as to create an illusion of a wider space, dining area and kitchen are divided by a semi-partition made of glass.
25
KITCHEN
As the space given for the kitchen is quite limited, mirror backsplash is used to make the illusion of a biger and wider space. A good lighting strategy is an essential thing in designing a well-functioned kitchen, and in this project, designer uses various types of lighting effect to create not only a well-illuminated countertop to support various of cooking activities, but also to create drama to the space.
MASTER BEDROOM
As designer believes that a well-designed bedroom shall give the user feelings of relaxation and tranquility, designer chooses the combination of light wood, upholstered wall, and hint of black to create a balanced feeling that leads to security and calmness. In addition, a various lighting effects are combined together in the space to make the room feel more homey.
MASTER BATHROOM
26
DAUGHTER’S ROOM
One of the challenges faced by designer is the limitation of space and the overloaded stuffs from the client. As the result, designer came up with the idea of providing extra storage that is lifted from the floor to create a multi-function space for both sleeping and storing.
27
SON’S ROOM As the smallest bedroom in the condominium, it is quite a challenge to maintain the use of double bed with wardrobe and also working table in the relatively tight space. As a result, designer comes up with the solution of using a wall hung wardrobe and also installing the working table at the near end of the bed to save some space for passage.

BACKGROUND STORY The concept behind this light fixture that was hand-made by the designer is to tell the story of how someone’s past does not equal someone’s future. The roots are analoged as the past experiences that had always been holding someone back from success and the fixture itself represents the human. And the crack on the fixture represents the moment when that particular human could finally let go of his dark past, break free, and shine his way out to the future like the unfiltered light.
