IN SINGAPORE

22

The Raffles brand was born and bred in Singapore, a city of opportunities known for being a city in the garden. From a small, humble fishing village, Singapore has transformed into a vibrant city of modern skyscrapers and cosmopolitan living. Similarly, Raffles has blossomed into a global concern, promising a life of learning that few others can match. Despite being one of the smallest countries in the world, Singapore’s commitment to free trade and her well-educated, highly efficient workforce has made the country become a powerful force in the world economy. An exciting city with excellent technological infrastructure and efficient workforce, Singapore is one of the top choice destinations for a well-rounded education.

Not only is Singapore an efficient society, she is also known for being a food haven. Due to the unique culture where people of four races - Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian - live in harmony, Singapore boasts a blend of tasteful delights. Over the years, the positioning of Singapore as Asia’s financial hub has also brought an increase of foreign talent to our country, boosting our economy and further increasing the types of food we have available. Melding the best of East and West, with a breathtaking cityscape, Singapore has much for visitors to discover beyond its history, culture, architecture, people, shopping and food. To us, this is how we complete a life at Raffles.

The time spent studying at Raffles has gone by so fast; I’ve learnt a lot of things here. One important thing is how to think more deeply rather than to stop thinking just at design level. From the Master Programme, I gained more knowledge about how to manage a design project, and how to consider a design from the customer’s view. What is more important is the skill to investigate the problem from a more professional standpoint. Also, the Master Programme gave me lots of practices on how to manage my time and improve my performance in a project. Group work is the most interesting thing – working with other students, communicating ideas, investigating problems together; all these moments are valuable to me. Luo Chong China
