Raffles College of Higher Education (Registration Number: EDU-2-2033) has fulfilled the requirements under the EduTrust criteria and has been granted the EduTrust certification for a period of four years, with effect from 16 Jan 2012 to 15 Jan 2016. The EduTrust certification scheme award is given to private education institutions which have met minimum standards in key areas of management and provision of educational services and are of reasonable financial health. These awards are made known publicly and thus, enable students to make more informed choices. All students will benefit from the introduction of EduTrust as their fees will be protected. EduTrustcertified private education institutions will be accountable for maintaining their standards across the board for all students.
RAFFLES DESIGN INSTITUTE ACHIEVES “TOP 50 FASHION SCHOOLS IN THE WORLD” RANKING Raffles Design Institute’s Fashion Design and related programmes was ranked top 40 in a USbased fashion news site – Fashionista.com’s latest ranking of the Top 50 Fashion Schools in the World. It is ranked second amongst the four Asian Fashion Institutes that made it to Fashionista.com’s list.
TRIUMPH INSPIRATION AWARD 2011 Winnie Setio won the National Winner for Triumph Inspiration Award 2011. She represented Singapore at the 2011 Triumph Inspiration Awards (International) in Berlin during their annual fashion week. Another Raffles Designer, Sophia Eng took third place with her design, “The Modern Vintage”.
KRONENBOURG 1664 FRENCH ART OF PLEASURE FASHION CONTEST Kuan Yit Ying won first prize in the Kronenbourg 1664 French Art of Pleasure (FAP) Fashion Contest, beating nine other contestants. Her work was showcased at a premium Kronenbourg outlet for a month.
FASHION REGLAMMED Three Raffles Design Teams emerged winners after a round of public voting in Fashion Reglammed! @ Wisma Atria, an event under Fashion Season @ Orchard. The teams were: Winning Team: Muhammad Firdaus Bin Mohd Aris and Aleksey Chigasov. First Runner-up: Nesya Silviany Sendjaja and Christina Tanujay.a Second Runner-up: Khoh Siow Lin, Lin Yu Jing and Michelle Onggo Wijoyo.
CREME DE LA CREME BUNKA GAKUEN UNIVERSITY AND RAFFLES Voted as the top two Asian Fashion schools in the world, students from Bunka Gakuen University joined force with Raffles Designers in re-defining fashion during their cultural exchange trip in Raffles, Singapore! Read more here!

Jacqueline Harliman emerged as the National Winner in YourSingapore.com United Buddy Bear Competition 2011. She received a cash prize, as well as a week-long trip to Berlin to showcase her bear. Her submission represented Singapore among 140 other countries’ submissions. Her design embarked on the world tour and was last exhibited at Kuala Lumpur.

SUPER STICKY TIES UNITE DESIGN CONTEST
Two winning banner designs from Raffles Designers Michael Leang and Piyatida Makagul were selected, by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), as winners for the “Design for Singapore: NDP Banner Design Competition 2011”. Copies of their banners were hung on buildings throughout the parade route.

Jacqueline Harliman was the 1 runner up in the Super Sticky Ties Unite!” Design Contest, held by 3M Post-it® Brand. Up against fierce competition from 80 entries submitted by other teams, Jacqueline single-handedly won the contest with $2,000 cash and $1,000 worth of 3M products.

HSBC CADDY BIB COMPETITION 2011 Priyatna Sungkono is the winner of the HSBC Caddy Bib Competition 2011. Raffles Designers, Ng Shu Ling and Sabrina Lau were placed second
Ng Shu Ling won her second award later the year in the Peel Fresh Tetra-Pak Design Contest. Ng Shu Ling emerged as one of the top three winners with her design entitled “25 Years of Crowning Glory”. The winning designs would be reproduced onto a range of 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Packs to be sold nationwide.
FURNITURE DESIGN AWARD 2011 Raffles Designer Samir Wadekar's bookcase intrigued guests at the 2011 Furniture Design Awards, and earned him a merit award in the design competition featuring students and designers from around the world. Wadekar, and his bookcase, have also been featured in the online publication of TimeOut Singapore, where he reveals that, although his original design was intended for books, the final product is so versatile it can easily be used to store wine, as a coffee table and even house fish.
“LIVE YOUNG T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST” Evian organised a T-shirt Design Challenge in 2011, in conjunction with its latest campaign themed “Live Young”. David Adi Chandra emerged the Top Prize winner with his cupid inspired design and was awarded a $1000 cash prize and an internship at Jackson Tan Black Design Studio.
SINGAPORE NDP 2011 FLIP VIDEO COMPETITION FLIP and NDP 11 EXCO jointly organized The NDP 11 Flip Video Competition, “Reflections on the Singapore Spirit”, for Singaporean to share and embrace what the Singapore Spirit means to them. Three winning Flip Videos from Raffles Designers, Alexis Flores, Ho Jun Hui and Cherlyn Ng were showcased at the NDP road show exhibition islandwide.
MASTER GRADUATE WOWS THE SINGAPORE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT BOARD Raffles Master Graduate Vrinda Modi did a sensational presentation to the Singapore Housing & Development Board (HDB). Specializing in Interior Design, Vrinda presented her research on ‘Sustainable Indoor Landscapes for Interior Air Purification’ to revolutionize the interior concept of the Bras Basah Complex in Singapore.
SPARKLE WITH FRANK AND CO. Raffles Design Institute was invited by Frank and Co. to create an assortment of pieces for them. Drawing inspirations from a variety of natural sources, the top ten finalists created 3D computer renderings of their collections. Jessica Chang emerged the winner with her collection. Second and third place went to Chung In Sung (Ester) and Kevin Lu Zi Xian. A special award, the Market Favourite Award, was presented to Winnie Lestari.
Raffles School of Business organized several learning trips out of the classroom in 2011. On a rare opportunity to visit Gardenia Bread Factory, Raffles Entrepreneurs were given a tour of the facility, learning about the range of activities from production on the factory floor to the important decisions made in the boardroom. Learning more about the workforce/workplace relationship was important to the students, allowing them to relate their classroom lessons to the real business world.
Raffles School of Business (RSB) also got the chance to visit the Asia Pacific Brewery (APB) to see how business strategies were put into action and the students gained a better understanding of production and operations management in a practical way.
