INTRODUCTION TO RAFFLES ACADEMY OF CONTINUING EDUCATION
The new English Language Programme (ELP) will be launched with effect from July 2012, with a total of 2 levels: Foundation English and Advanced English. The ELP is a 6-month full-time programme and students who do not meet the English requirements must complete the ELP before progressing to their applied Course. This intensive study will be more conducive to effective language learning, after which students can concentrate solely on their applied Course. Launched in June 2012, Raffles Academy of Continuing Education strives to provide quality learning to adult learners aspiring towards continual upgrading of their existing skill sets and expanding their knowledge horizon. Our faculty consists of trainers who are subjectmatter-experts with a keen understanding of the industry. Classes conducted include practical sessions so that participants can maximize their learning experience as they embark on this journey with Raffles Academy of Continuing Education.
NEW SHORT COURSES For the pilot launch, Raffles Academy of Continuing Education will be offering a suite of short courses in Fashion Design and Jewellery Design. In partnership with Shiseido and Shiseido Professional, we will also be conducting a series of Make-Up and Personal Grooming, and Hairstyling courses to equip learners with competency in makeup application and basic hair styling.
RAFFLES OPEN HOUSE 2012 Raffles College of Higher Education held its annual Open House on 18 February 2012. This event brought together Raffles Design Institute, Raffles Merchandising Institute, Raffles School of Business and the newly established Raffles Academy of Continuing Education for adult learners, featuring workshops and seminars. PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN FASHION DESIGN & FASHION MARKETING Raffles Academy of Continuing Education will be launching a 1-year Professional Diploma programme in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing & Management in the second half of 2012. This programme is highly anticipated as it comprises of an apprenticeship component, whereby learners will be able to gain first-hand industry knowledge from host companies to enhance their learning journey. Singaporean students and PRs will also receive grants through our collaboration with the Employment & Employability Institute ("e2i") and the Workforce Development Agency ('WDA').

CHAMPION OF 2012 ANNUAL PACKAGING DESIGN CONTEST
It was the third consecutive win for Raffles Design Institute when Michelle Darmawan was crowned the winner of the HSBC Caddy Bib Competition 2012! Raffles Designers Tao Jing and Aphirak Marvin also achieved first and second runner-up respectively. Congratulations!
The Annual Packaging Contest 2012 saw Raffles Designer Joanne Lee May Teng crowned Winner of the Design A Mooncake Box 2012, and Raffles Designer Sherlivia Kurniawan achieving the Merit Award.
CREATING MASTER PIECES IN SINGAPORE In collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Raffles Design Institute was specially invited to participate in the Art Competition for MRT Hoardings. Raffles Design Institute (RDI) Jakarta’s Grendy and Medica’s creative use of badminton shuttlecocks, bubble wraps and broken CDs in their wedding dress design earned them the 3rd place at the recent Panorama Convex Indah Wedding Dress Draping Competition 2012. The competition was jointly organised by PT. Panorama, renowned professional Conference and Exhibition
Consultant, and 2012 Grand Wedding Expo at JCC Plenary Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia. Contestants had to work in pairs to construct a wedding dress using only recycled materials and no more than 20% new fabrics. Apart from the Grendy-Medica team, two other Raffles teams also entered the competition with their designs and made it all the way to the finals. Congratulations to Grendy and Medica for a job well done!

The Shanghai edition of Raffles Privato has received many positive reviews from local fashion industry leaders, the media and customers since its official launch in July 2011 at XinTianDi Style, an upscale shopping mall in Shanghai, China. The Raffles Privato store in Shanghai is an incubator projector between Raffles Design Institute (RDI) Shanghai and the Shui On Group to help promising young designers’ kick-start their private labels.
