Maintenance work planned for Manu Bay sea wall in January Maintenance work will begin at the end of January on the Manu Bay sea wall in Raglan to avoid any further erosion occurring.

Waikato District Council Service Delivery Manager, Tim Harty said the sea wall had been constructed in the 1960s and routine maintenance was necessary to make sure the impact from sea swells did not cause the land to further erode, undermining the structure. SUNDAY SERVICES: “One of the key functions of the 10.00am - Family Service with Sunday School retaining wall is to protect boats Op-Shop in the hall 10am - 2pm Saturdays. launching in to the sea from the nearby Manu Bay boat-ramp. Best camping spot you’ve ever been to? Ruapuke: just down the coast but it feels like you’re really getting away, and perfect for a weekend destination with the kids. What do you love most about Summer Holidays in Raglan? The atmosphere of town humming, swimming at Kopua and jumping off the bridge, having fish and chips at the wharf, sitting on the deck of the pub people watching, one way bridge madness and Ngarunui before the wind gets up. What’s happening on Christmas day? Family time in Auckland followed by more family time in Taupo. Will definitely include eating and drinking too much, family feuds and killer scrabble. New year resolutions? Nah.

wall structure. These will be stockpiled on the grass area near the boat ramp before and during the maintenance works. Council’s project engineers have talked about the project with community members, including those representing the Raglan boating club, surf club, local iwi, and Whaingaroa Harbour Care to discuss how the work may affect them. The Manu Bay boat ramp will continue to be available to the public during the maintenance work which is expected to cause minimum disruption to those using Manu Bay for recreation. Signage will be installed at the site to show what is expected and Schick’s Construction and Cartage have been contracted by Council to complete the work. The sea wall maintenance project is expected to take place from late January to the end of March 2016. Whilst the timing coincides with the busy summer period, it is based on historic data http://www.weathermap.co.nz/?p=ragla showing sea and swell conditions being most settled during summer months for the work to be done. aori activist Eva Rickard’s dream of having a place for youth to express themselves is to be restored by the AIA Marae DIY team, local tradespeople, whanau and the community. Eva’s daughter, Angeline Rickard, made a successful application to the production team of Marae DIY, for its 12 television series, to restore the old stage on the foreshore at Te Kopua Marae. The DIY team will be in Raglan for four days over Auckland Anniversary weekend, from January 28, to do the rebuild, and everyone is welcome to lend a hand. “It was always my mother’s dream to have a place for the youth to express themselves,” says Angeline, of the old stage where Eva, who died in 1997, hosted her annual Te Ao Marama Festival. The festival also commemorated the return of the Maori land she fought so hard for. “The stage has seen better days,” says Angeline. “So we thought it was time to recapture it.”

On Friday last week, the Marae DIY production crew visited Te Kopua Marae to get some camera footage of before the rebuild, to meet with the local tradespeople who have offered their time on the rebuild and to catch up with whanau. Marae DIY producer Nix Jaques says the stage rebuild offers the TV series a chance to tell a different story with DIY. She says the marae has an interesting history: it was destroyed during wartime, on government orders, to make way for an airfield and Eva fought hard for the return of the land. Eva’s stage, which will host another Te Ao Marama Festival two weeks after the rebuild, will get a new roof, new floor and a whole new interior. Angeline says there were thoughts to move it away from the foreshore due to the coastal erosion, but that would have cost too much time and money. Instead, the back end will be removed to put more distance between the stage and the beach. The foreshore will be graded so that it slopes down to the water, and a couple of sand ladders will be put down as a public

accessway and to help prevent further erosion. The Marae DIY effort will also include some landscaping: planting a few pohutukawa, putting in concrete pathing and tidying up the entranceway to the marae. “It’s a lovely kaupapa,” says Nix. “Hugely rewarding. Every time we come back from a location we just get a lovely mihi back from the people. “It creates a moment for the whanau to all come home for the weekend ... we engage everyone so everyone feels part of the change.” Marae DIY is now New Zealand’s longest running, locally produced DIY show. It will air on TV3 later next year. If anyone would like to be part of the rebuild – particularly an electrician – please contact Nix Jaques: email nix.jaques@ screentime.co.nz or ph 021 446 402. “The more the merrier,” says Angeline. Prizes spark good rivalry in NYE parade There is still time to put a float together and be in to win one of the big prizes in the Lions 2015 New Year’s Eve Parade. Organiser Bob MacLeod says there are a fair few people putting some effort into their float this year because the prizes are so good. The prizes are $250 for best float, $150 for second and $100 for third in the categories of community, sustainable and educate/safety. There is also a $100 special judges’ choice prize, and prizes of $100, $50 and $25 for anyone entering a bicycle or anything else on wheels. Bob says the parade categories come out of the District Plan and are therefore relevant to Raglan. He says the parade, which has been running for 45 years and is supported by Waikato District Council and the Raglan Community Board, is good exposure for all

the local groups and organisations that take part. This year there will be the usual suspects, including the fire brigade, coastguard and Night Owls, and Raglan Swimming Club is also putting together a float. “There have been some really clever floats in the past,” says Bob, who remembers riding in a fire engine in the parade when he was a lad and his dad was fire chief. The parade was started by the Raglan Fire Brigade and taken over by the Lions Club 43 years ago. In his younger years, Bob also took part in floats with the Sea Scouts and as a leader of the pipe band. “And now I’m organising it. “I think it’s great, it really is … it just brings the community together and gives all the tent people something to look at. “And there is good rivalry between the groups.”

Last year, 42 floats took part in the parade, and Bob hopes for a similar number this year. He says the only restriction regarding floats is that there is to be no use of water. Not because it’s “dangerous but because it’s got a bit outrageous” in the past, he says, with water bombs being thrown at the public and the fire service hosing down all the local children. “We had to rein them in a bit,” he laughs. The parade begins at 7pm on Thursday next week in Bow St, which will be closed to traffic during the event. Registration forms to take part in the parade are available from Raglan Book Shop or you can enter on the day. Everyone taking part in the parade must assemble in Wallis St at 6pm for judging. “It will be a doozy,” says Bob. “We just have to hope that the weather will be good.” Inger Vos

Raglan Five Dollar Festival organiser Tom McCormick with the colour-in flyers for the event designed by artist Denise Fort.

A he’s on to a winner for the local Raglan music promoter reckons

community with a summer festival where “everyone and everything” costs just five dollars.

Tom McCormick’s been busy lining up local bands and musicians – with the odd overseas act thrown in – to play at Raglan Old School Arts Centre over Waitangi Weekend. “It’s for the people by the people,” he says of the aptly named Raglan Five Dollar Festival. The event will be run over four consecutive evenings – from 5 to 10pm – with music playing on stages both in front of and behind the Old School in Stewart

Street. While the entry fee will be $5, Tom explains, admission will be free for both the under-12s and for locals setting up food and craft stalls which will in turn sell everything at $5. A doIlar from each sale goes into the “koha bucket” to pay the musicians and the festival running costs. Tom reckons it’s a format which doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and allows a wide cross section of the community to be part of the event. He envisages attracting anything from face-painting artists to kids selling home-made lemonade and craftspeople with small items on offer. While he says he came up himself with the idea of a five dollar festival, he’s since discovered there was a similar event last

year at the Hard Rock Café in Philadelphia, the most populous city in the state of Pennsylvania. Support here so far for the concept, he says, has been “amazing”, with musos like the West Coast Jazz Band and longtime local recording artist Dave Maybee, formerly of the Raglan Mudsharks, among the confirmed acts. Others appearing include Amelia Penfold, Pete Fountain, The Dave Alley Band, Majestic Unicorns, Parabola West, The Brendon Ham Band, Acoustic Spirit, Dubsonic and Nicky Keys. The event will also provide an opportunity for local groups like the kaumatua, the fire service and Raglan House – formerly the community house – to fundraise. Raglan Lions Club is looking at sponsoring the first hour of each evening to give school bands exposure, says Tom, while churches are being approached to provide “kidzone” activities and possibly a choir on the Sunday night. Ireland-based English guitarist Jon Sanders has been booked to play the Friday night. Raglan businesses are being encouraged to support the event by sponsoring one of the stages or an hour of the nightly show. Tom says other performance venues around town – The Yot Club, Harbour View Hotel and Raglan Club – will be part of a wider “music trail” offering $5 discounts for festival-goers. February’s shaping up as a busy time for outdoor events about town as the Saturday after Waitangi Weekend the Te Ao Marama Festival will be revived on ancestral Maori land surrounding the Kokiri Centre and bordering Ocean Beach. The popular community event was last staged in 2008, says co-ordinator Angeline Greensill whose mother Eva Rickard led a long struggle more than 30 years ago to win back that block of land – known as Te Kopua – for her people. The “festival of expression”, Angeline says, is held in memory of Whaingaroa’s past, and celebrates its future with music and dance, artists and craftspeople. The harbourside stage used for the earlier festivals will be renovated just two weeks before the event, she adds. Whanau saved the building from falling into the sea late last year by shoring up the surrounding land with a retaining bank of tyres and plantings from the kokiri nursery. *Raglan Five Dollar Festival will be staged at the Old School on Waitangi Weekend, February 5-8 from 5-10pm daily. Entry $5 (under 12s free). *Te Ao Marama Festival will be staged at Te Kopua off Riria Kereopa Memorial Drive on Saturday February 13, 10am10pm. Entry by koha. Edith Symes

Raglan Water changes hands tephen and Tracey Frew are S happy to announce that they have purchased the local business known as Raglan Water that supplies bulk water to mostly rural households.

We are grateful to Peter and Robin Storey for the opportunity to purchase the business and look forward to continuing the same excellent service they have previously offered the community. Raglan Water 2015 limited started trading a couple of months ago and operates on demand most days of the week. I don’t

want to work the stat holidays but if you get stuck give me a call and we will work something out. As we come into the dryer part of summer everyone needs to be aware of their water usage, keep roofs and spouting in good condition and keep an eye on the amount of water in your tank. Often running out can cause other issues with pumps etc, these issues can be avoided with a little effort and ultimately save you money. Raglan Water supplies only town supply water bought from the district council and taken from the Raglan Townships fire

hydrants with a metered standpipe. This is the standard required by the District Health board who monitor our business closely. Yes this water is chlorinated and we understand peoples perception of this, but the District Health Board insist that this is the only water supplied and as such we will not supply any other water to households. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year and look forward to meeting you all in the New Year. Phone 027 315 8960 to contact Raglan Water. Stephen and Tracey Frew

Rylee to follow in her dad’s footsteps Piecing together the puzzle of Raglan’s surf history has uncovered names and stories that some thought were all but lost. Each week of searching has brought on new names and new adventures, some have added to the story, some have given it a new twist.

Rylee King and Zippy, her baby pet magpie.

R

ylee King answers the door to her Ruapuke home with a magpie on her arm. Three dogs, ranging in size from tiny to massive, circle at her feet. The King household also includes about seven cats, some fish, chickens and turkeys. Rylee gets her love of animals from mum Chrissy King. But it’s in her dad’s footsteps that the 17-year-old, who has just completed her final year at Raglan Area School, hopes to follow. Her dad, Wade, died five years ago of stomach cancer. He was a detective when he and Chrissy moved to Raglan in the 1990s and had the kids, Rylee and her brother, Regis, and he always reckoned Rylee “had an eye” to be in the police force. She always noticed everything, says Chrissy. She’d see a sheep stuck in a drain if they were out driving in the car and notice anything out of the ordinary. Wade, who was a detective in Huntly before perfing, left the police force because, “funnily enough, he didn’t want the kids growing up having a father as a police officer”. But he always shared his police stories with his daughter. And when he was sick he brought out his photos of his old policing days, of when he worked undercover. He weighed 120 kilograms and had a big affro. Wade was a big man. Rylee says she was told a story about when her dad was supposed to be sneaking through the bush on a police raid but he was making too much noise, “crashing through the trees, because he was so big”. Her dad was also a humble man,

Rylee says. “He was a very quiet person, very humble, didn’t really talk much. “He would always do something that would help people and wouldn’t boast about it.” She remembers when her father, who loved to surf, swam out to rescue a woman who was caught in a rip at the beach in Raglan. It was when her parents owned the fruit shop in town, and the woman came into the store and gifted Wade “this massive piece of pounamu”. Rylee, who was head girl at Raglan Area School this year, says police work is appealing because there are so many different fields you can get into. “Mum wants me to do something with forensic photography because I took photography twice (at school) but I think I want to do something more hands on, like be a detective or a dog handler, something like that.” She is aiming to get into police college next year. In the meantime, she’s looking to find some work that will help improve her chances of getting in – something that involves community, and gives her a bit of life experience. Currently, she works part-time at the Raglan library. Rylee says she also needs to work on her fitness to get into police college, although that can probably wait until after Christmas. And she has to get her restricted driver’s licence. Chrissy says there’s no doubt that Rylee will become a police officer: she gets her stubbornness from her dad, and her determination. But when she leaves home she has to take her animals with her, Chrissy laughs. Inger Vos

Fact checking isn’t exactly an easy task, so as these stories unravel we have to backtrack and give credit where credit is due–this one involves the historic day Manu Bay, “The Point”, was first surfed. Thanks to the diligent diary keeping of Peter Miller’s then girlfriend Kaye (who eventually became his wife), the story is short and sweet, and goes a little something like this: “I had surfed Whale Bay a few times from as early as 1958 using my surf ski. But on this day with a new ten foot Malibu I had just built strapped on the car, I was attracted to the large waves forming around a point on a headland, running off into the bay. I decided to stop and walk down the hill and give it a go.” – Peter Miller Peter had driven out from Hamilton with Kaye. She decided to stay in the car and write in her diary, while Peter took those historic footsteps down the hill and off into The Point. Peter notes that he never read Kaye’s diary, but she did confirm the date for him… After riding The Point, Peter rang [fellow ‘Original’] Chas Lake over at the Mount with one message, “Get here.” Back then, they were riding 16 foot paddle boards, not so ideal for The Point. It would be a least a year from Peter’s first phone call to Chas before they made it across to try out his newly discovered surfing spot. But once they experienced it for themselves, Peter would ring

the Mount Surf Club from Petchell’s Bakery in Raglan on the big days, and they would make an 80-mile mad dash across the Kaimai’s. Chas recalls the first time he came across from the Mount with Peter, Jim Mowtell “Mo”, the late Ces Marsh and Ces’ son. “It was so big it closed out right across the bay. Peter and Ces headed for the horizon, paddling through some huge broken waves. Ces’ son was crying, convinced that he would never see his dad again! The boys caught waves in after the huge set had subsided... In my years of visiting Raglan, I have never seen a set like it.” – Chas Lake Following the timeline of historic ‘firsttime’ memories, also comes the timeline of ‘first boards’. In December 1957, Peter Miller made the first ‘short’ surfboard–a 10 foot Malibu board, that would go on to be accepted as the first board built in New Zealand. It had rounded solid pine rails with a shaped 12” wooden skeg. The fin was fixed to the board using resin impregnated cloth (which he later found out was also known as fibreglass). The nose was rounded with a slight uplift/rocker. The overall length was 10 feet by 24 inches wide and weighed 32kg/70lbs. The modern lightweight foam surfboard didn’t appear in New Zealand until 1958 when two American’s, Bing Copeland and Rick Stoner, turned up at a Surf Lifesaving meeting. These boards would trigger the evolution of surfboard shaping in Raglan and the rest of New Zealand. Karamea Puriri Surf Into Summer is a fortnightly column highlighting Raglan’s surf history. Special thanks to Allison Lake for organising the conversations with Chas Lake and Peter Miller.

Healthy tips for a safe holiday season:

Please ring the normal surgery number, 825 0114 and your call will be put through to Healthline, the after hours service provider which is staffed by Registered Nurses. You will be given advice and assistance and if deemed necessary you will receive a call back from a duty doctor. If you are advised by the doctor to go to Anglesea Clinic you will only be charged a subsidised fee similar to what you would normally pay at West Coast Health Clinic.

• Avoid driving when tired • Wear jandals on the beach as the blacksand gets very hot • Stay hydrated and ensure kids get fluids regularly

Please note: If you present at Anglesea Clinic without the advice of the Healthline Doctor you will be charged their full casual rate.

• Don’t let skin infections go untreated, these are more common during summer months • Be sun safe – slip on a long sleeved top, slop on plenty of sunscreen, slap on a wide rimmed hat & wrap on a pair of close fitting sunglasses

New team members

• It can be unsafe to drive when taking medication which impairs/ affects your driving ability - have a ‘safe to drive’ conversation with your doctor or pharmacist about your medication • Don’t swim under the influence of alcohol • Practice safe sex

Update from Project BUILD IT With pledges of more than $800,000, Project BUILD IT is intent on raising up to $3 million to build a community owned medical centre for Raglan.

The Trustees of West Coast Health Charitable Trust aka Project BUILD IT. L to R: Dianne Spicer and David Grace (seated). Fiona Edwards and Sharon Tribe (standing).

Trustee Fiona Edwards says “We want to ensure Raglan has affordable health care into the future and one way of achieving this is to construct and own a purpose built facility and charge affordable market rent to health providers.” West Coast Health Clinic, who are currently the main health providers in Raglan, have outgrown their existing premises and have been looking at alternative options for some time. They had considered building their own purpose built centre, however to fund the project West Coast Health Clinic would have to give up their low cost access pricing and charge patients a higher fee for services. A community owned medical centre allows West Coast Health to keep its current pricing structure and to continue to focus on health solutions for patients instead of becoming property developers. It’s a winwin solution for all.

Beyond providing affordable health care, the Project BUILD IT Team want this facility to provide training and work experience for trainee health professionals, to provide scholarships and grants to students and adults to train in health related fields and to foster an environment where teams of health providers support people to plan and manage their own health care. While seeking large grants from funders and sponsors to construct this building, the Project BUILD IT Team also need support from the local community and visitors. There will be a series of fundraising events over the next few months to follow on from a successful raffle – watch out for the project BUILD IT float and food stall at the New Year’s Eve Parade – where there will be vegetarian curry, sizzling sausages and fruit kebabs for sale. Volunteers will also be at the Soundsplash Festival in January providing sunscreen for donations. Please support project BUILD IT at an event, or go online to our Givealittle page to make a donation. Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year from the team at project BUILD IT.

t was a giddy-up-horsey day at Te Uku Pony Club on Saturday, celebrating end of this year’s riding season by holding a combined rally between local Pony Club kids, visiting Katikati Pony Club youngsters, Raglan Adult Equine Club and a few day-visitors. All were tried and tested competing in a fun event, challenging themselves and their trusty steeds (from the shortest to the tallest!) The game we played is called ‘LeTrec’ and its primary aim and background is testing the skills of Equestrian Trekking Guides in Europe (orig. France) ‘LeTrec’ involves three phases, all performed on horseback: 1. Obstacle Challenge such as: the ‘branch’ manoeuvre, bridge crossing, scary jump and ‘hoofball’ 2. Control of Paces: demonstrate the best

control of your mount’s speed: fastest walk and slowest canter performed between two points, without breaking gait. 3. Orienteering (long distance ride): riders must demonstrate ability to read a map, know the location of cardinal points and be able to identify ‘markers’ along the way. Everyone made a great effort to dress up for the occasion: anything from Christmas related outfits to Batman and ‘onesies’, including sparkly ponies all around. Prizes courtesy of Bayer Veterinary supplies, Sweet As Popcorn and a big serving of strawberries and ice-cream courtesy of Te Uku Pony Club were a welcoming reward at the end of a long day horsing around. If you want to join our riding club and be part of future fun rallies, please contact Nicola at ncbuckton@gmail.com Te Uku Pony Club

Maui Dolphin Day Get ready! Whaingaroa we heard you! For the past 13 years the Whaingaroa Environment Centre, Xtreme Zero Waste and the Raglan Community House have worked to bring Whaingaroa the annual Maui Dolphin Day. It takes a huge team effort to pull all the good times together and with ongoing funding cuts it has become a real struggle to find the resources. So we put out a call to the community - and the support has been unanimous! We’re pleased to announce thay Maui Dolphin Day is going ahead! We’ve managed to pull together just enough resources to run the event. Thanks to BRAIN PERRY CHARITABLE TRUST, RAGLAN COCONUT YOGHURT, and to a few locals who wish to remain anonymous, for their generous donations. And thank you to everyone in the community who let us know how important this day is to you! Raglan is known for its close connection to the Maui Dolphin, we’re right in the middle of its

limited range. The Dolphin is the worlds rarest and most of its threats are human induced. It’s survival depends on how our coastal communities change their behaviour to reduce these threats and bring back our iconic dolphin.

Maui Dolphin Day celebrates the work we have all been doing and shares the latest about the Dolphin and what’s next in terms of its recovery plan. And the day includes the Xtreme Zero Waste Recycled Raft Race!

Karioi Maunga ki te Moana... Numerous Raglan Community groups have worked together to support the dolphin. These have included Harbour Care planting over 1 million trees, fencing over 600kms of harbour and stream edge, Xtreme Zero Waste preventing leachate from old landfill and installing and servicing enviropods in all storm water entering the Harbour, Whaingaroa Environment Centre conducting water quality advocacy, implement-

Response to call for Christmas presents ‘overwhelming’

Jenelle’s children, Xanthe and Cullen, have gifted some of their toys to others for Christmas.

Two Raglan women are making Christmas special for more than 150 children living in poverty in the Whaingaroa area. Michelle Reid and Jenelle have been collecting pre-loved and new toys to give to children who otherwise might not get any presents this year. Michelle says the idea came after she’d met a young family with kids who had told her that they didn’t believe in Santa Claus because “he’s never been to our house”. “My heart just broke,” says Michelle, who has two grown-up sons but takes care of her 6-year -old granddaughter. “The parents were very young and embarrassed and they said ‘we can’t afford it’. “So on my way to pick up my grandchild, who has every toy in the

world, it got me thinking. Why not put it out there for any pre-loved toys, books and DVDs to be donated so children of Raglan can have something for Christmas this year.” A call for presents and recommendations of children in need was put on Raglan Notice Board and through the schools and community groups. The response was overwhelming, Michelle and Jenelle say. Presents came in from everywhere, from as far away as Kerikeri and Invercargill, but unfortunately so, too, did the recommendations of needy children. “I thought I might do one or two kids but the whole thing went viral,” says Michelle. “We spent the first week in tears,” says Jenelle, a solo mother with three children, aged 4,8 and 10.

She says they even got calls about kids who had been removed from their families by CYF just before Christmas. “The phone was going to two or three in the morning,” says Michelle. The pair started the toy collection by going through their own kids’ toys at home, looking for suitable presents. One woman drove down from Auckland with bags of brand-new toys from K-Mart, and grandmothers came around with boot-loads of toys. As the need for more toys became apparent, Michelle started to spend her own money on more gifts. She says she probably spent about $200 on presents and wrapping paper. “But I kind of look at it, like, I bought two bikes (on Raglan Noticeboard) for $10 and that’s two cups of coffee. “A lot of people offered cash but I said ‘thanks, but we would prefer wrapping paper or go to the $2 shop”. “Ninety-per cent of the people that have given don’t have much themselves,” says Jenelle. “We just want to say thank you so much to anyone that donated or nominated children in need.” The two plan to do it all again next year, but do it better. “It was a huge learning curve,” says Michelle, who’s living room was overrun with gifts. “We will get a room somewhere to put all the toys and start at the beginning of the year, not a few weeks before Christmas.” Jenelle says she would also like to do something for the parents of the children. “Even if it’s a box chocolates … just to say that we care about them, too.” Inger Vos

Kyle receiving more awards

2015 has been a very successful year for the Raglan team of George Boyes & Co, with Raglan taking out the top office for the third time in a row. Three of the 5 Raglan salespeople have achieved captain’s club and multi club status this year. The market has been hot with many new listings receiving multiple offers and snapped up quickly plus longer listed properties being sold.

Deadline Sale campaigns are proving very successful delivering multiple offers and great results to our sellers. This has proved to be a more flexible method of sale for many buyers than Auction due to the process catering for both conditional and unconditional interest .

At the front desk we’ve had some changes with Eileen Stephens retiring after 10 years working for George Boyes in Raglan. She will be missed. Margot is now job sharing with Lara Crane who has fitted into the team with ease and we feel privileged to have her on board.

: e l p o e p s e l a s r u o A message from Kyle: “A highlight for me this year has been winning ‘Best Business Growth Agent’ and ‘Marketing & Innovation Agent’ at the LJ Hooker New Zealand awards plus ranking 8th nationwide from approx 700 sale people for the 2014/2015 financial year.” Sandra: “It’s been a challenging year with rental applications far out numbering available properties in Raglan. On a personal note I’m really looking forward to my holiday in Borneo.”

Michelle: “This has been a really happy year for me, working in a wonderful supportive office surrounded by positive people and achieving great success for our clients. My personal highlight was finally making it to Ireland & Europe with the family after 9 years of hard work and saving.” Stephen: “Honoured to become inducted into the LJ Hooker Captain’s Club within 12 months of business; an excellent year with professional colleagues and valued clients and it was great to receive my New Zealand citizenship.”

David: “2015 has been a fantastic year for real estate. I live for helping people realise their property dreams and I look forward to more of the same in 2016.” Chrissy: “What a busy 2015 it has been! It was great to attain multi chapter captains club membership this year. I love helping people achieve their real estate dreams and look forward to another year ahead getting to know more of you.” Matt: “2015 has been a good year, of course one of the highlights was retaining the Rugby World Cup! I look forward to continuing to help farmers make important real estate decisions.”

You will be familiar with Microsoft office and email. For the right candidate, this role has the opportunity to grow. We offer a family friendly, cohesive team. It’s a great place to work. Contact Shelley Meek on 07 825-7050 or email: finance@bizworx.co.nz – Subject line ‘Administrator Position’ for a copy of the job description. All applications with your CV and a covering letter should be received in writing to Bizworx, PO Box 66, Raglan 3265 or via email by Friday 15th January 2016 for an ideal start date of late February.
