Councillor’s Column As  we  move  into  Daylight  Saving  time,  it  is  great  to  think  that  summer’s  on  the  way.   Council  will  be  taking  advantage  of  the  better  weather  to  reseal  over  twenty  of  Raglan’s  roads  as  part  of  the  2012/2013  reseal  programme.   Some  preparation  work  has  already  been  carried  out  in  Bow  Street  and  Cliff  Street  and  other  parts  of  town.   Council  will  also  be  repairing  more  of  our  broken   footpaths.   Breakage  and  damage  is  usually  caused  by  heavy  trucks,  delivery  vehicles  and  cars  driving  over   footpaths,  as  well  as  parking  on  the  paths.    Footpaths  that  are  damaged  and  obstructed  by  this  kind  of  activity  are  a  constant  problem  especially  for  parents  with  little  ones  in  strollers,  disabled  and  elderly  people  in  mobility  scooters  and  wheelchairs  and  kids  making  their  way  to  and  from  school  along  the  footpaths. It  is  pleasing  to  see  that  the  new  BMX  track  at  Te  Kopua  is  well  underway.   This  community  project  will  add  to  the  success  of  the  skatepark  that  is  providing  enjoyment  for  young  locals  and  visitors  alike.   The  Raglan  Coastal  Reserves  Advisory  Committee  would  also  like  to  see  some  updated  equipment  in  the  play  area  at  Te  Kopua  as  well. The  newly  appointed  Beach  Rangers  will  be  meeting  with  Council  Animal  Control  this  week  to  gain  a  clear  understanding  of  the  rules  around  dogs  at  the  beach.   This  is  an  issue  that  results  in  a  lot  of  complaints  from  beach-users. Movie Preview: Your Sister’s Sister by Susan Guenther A  humorous  twisting  tale  of  romantic  mayhem  emerges  from  heartache  and  grief,  forming  the  premise  of  this  dramatic  comedy. Jack  (Mark  Duplass),  still  struggling  with  the  emotional  sorrow  of  his  brother’s  death  a  year  before,  is  offered  a  time  of  solace  and  solitude.  His  best  friend,  Iris  (Emily  Blunt)  offers  Jack  the  use  of  her  family’s  remote  island  cabin. But  this  refuge  from  the  world  is  interrupted  by  Hannah  (Rosemarie  DeWitt),  Iris’s  sister,  herself  seeking  shelter  from  the  emotional  turmoil  of  an  abruptly  ended  seven-year  relationship.  Not  XQH[SHFWHGO\ IRU WKH YLHZHU WKH\ ÂżQG VRODFH LQ HDFK other’s  unexpected  presence.  Sibling  rivalry  then  complicates  the  tale  as  Iris  herself  suddenly  arrives  at  the  cabin. Over  the  space  of  a  few  days  in  this  isolated  retreat  off  the  coast  of  Washington  State  an  emotional  tale  of  interweaving  relationships  is  played  out.   The  three  main  characters  are  amusing,  expressive  and  revealing  in  all  their  awkwardness  and  personal  insecurities. ‘Your  Sister’s  Sister’  is  an  entertaining  comedy  about  the  convoluted  relationships  between  a  man,  his  best  friend  and  his  best  friend’s  sister. 8.00pm  Saturday  20  October  and  4.30pm  Sunday  21  October.  M  (sex  scenes  and  violence)  90mins Raglan  Old  School  Arts  Centre  in  Stewart  St.   For  reserves  phone  825  0023  or  Email  info@ raglanartscentre.co.nz.
