New ‘Studeo’ an offbeat art experience Many  may  know  the  location  of  Chris  Meek’s  unique  workshop  on  Cross  street,  but  on  Friday  26th  October  a  new  studio  space  will  be  opening  next  door,  showcasing  contemporary  art  from  emerging  local  artists.

Offer over noisy Times car falls on deaf ears Putting  up  with  the  Waikato  Times  trumpeting  its  new-­ look  morning  paper  is  one  thing  but  tolerating  its  noisy  delivery  vehicle  at  four  in  the  morning  is  another. Raglan  West  resident  Niall  Darwin  â€“  who  runs  Piwiwiwi  Surf  Car  and  Campervan  Rentals  from  his  home  in  Uenuku  Avenue  â€“  is  one  of  several  locals  who  reckon  they  don’t  need  that  kind  of  stress  before  their  day’s  even  begun.

But  Niall’s  been  so  â€œseriously  upsetâ€?  at  the  unwanted  early  morning  wake-­up  call  that’s  he’s  taken  the  matter  a  stage  further  â€“  he  wrote  to  the  Times  last  week  offering  to  lend  their  driver  a  car  for  the  last  two  weeks  of  her  contract  so  the  people  of  Raglan  could  get  some  sleep. “How  is  it  reasonable  for  someone  to  use  a  car  with  a  loud  PXIĂ€HU WR GHOLYHU QHZVSDSHUV DW that  time  of  day?â€?  he  asked  in  his  letter.

1LDOO DW ÂżUVW WKRXJKW LW ZDV drunks  or  teenagers  disturbing  the  peace.  But  then  he  saw  with  his  own  bleary  eyes  the  Waikato  Times  contractor  turning  into  driveways  and  depositing  newspapers  into  letterboxes,  all  without  leaving  her  seat.  He’s  not  been  the  only  one  loudly  complaining,  either.  He  got  into  a  virtual  conversation  about  it  on  Facebook  with  his  mate  Tim  Greaney  across  the  other  side  of  town,  who  was  also  getting  his Â

Holiday fun at The Old School Holiday  Halloween  activities  at  the  Old  School  ended  with  the  thrill  of  a  hunt  for  hidden  treasure.  $ ÂżQDO KLJKOLJKW RI WKH ZHHN RI fun  was  the  excitement  of  putting  together  a  treasure  hunt.  The  children  made  their  own  imaginative  maps,  hid  the  treasure  from  each  other,  and  eagerly  joined  in  the  search.  The  youngsters  enthusiastically  ate  their  own  creepily  creative  Halloween  cooking.  Every  day  bread  was  baked  into  eerie  shapes  DQG VFDU\ ORRNLQJ ÂľZLWFKHV ÂżQJHUVÂś biscuits  looked  remarkably  real. Yann  Bordier  said  the  children  especially  enjoyed  screen  printing  t-­shirts  with  wild  designs  and  taking  home  their  own  colourful  creations.  Their  creative  side  was  also  drawn  out  with  the  fun  of  chalk  drawings  and  making  magical  wands  with  beads  and  shells.  Many  lively  games  outdoors  were  all  enjoyed  with  enthusiasm. Offered  as  part  of  the  national  Out  of  School  Care  And  Recreation  service  (OSCAR)  the  programme  allowed  youngsters  from  as  far  DÂżHOG DV WKH 6RXWK ,VODQG RQ KROLGD\ in  Raglan,  to  join  with  local  children  to  play  and  create.  â€œThe  kids  had  fun  making  new  friends  and  meeting  up  with  their  friends  from  previous  OSCAR  programmes,â€?  said  Yann.
