End of school year 2018-2019 saw full-time crossing guard Arlene Thieme and substitute crossing guard Gene Weber retire. We also saw our fill-time crossing guard Dennis Scukow move from full-time status at the end of 2018-2019 to become a substitute. July 2019 was a busy month in hiring four additional crossing guards. Part-time crossing guard Darlene Rhodes retired at the end of December 2019.

Officer Libby Abel was selected as our Employee of the Year. Officer Abel's consistently high work ethic has resulted in 66 drug arrests and 30 OWI arrests. Officer Abel worked many overtime shifts to cover department needs. Auxiliary, Transport and Park Patrol Officer Seth Stankowski was selected as our Employee of the Year. In addition to his regular full-time job and role as Director of the Marshfield Police Auxiliary, Stankowski logged many volunteer hours as an Auxiliary Officer and was frequently available for late night calls as a Transport Officer. He remains consistently responsive to the department and community needs. Employee of the Year Award is awarded for outstanding achievement by an employee that brings credit to the department and involves performance above and beyond that which is required by an employee's basic assignment. Fred Beell Service Award is presented each year on Police Officer Memorial Day in May. The award is presented annually to retired members of the department who have honorably served the City of Marshfield for more than 25 years. Recipients are presented with a commemorative coin with a depiction of fallen Marshfield Police Officer Fred Beell and the words "Service over Self" inscribed on it. Officer David Mattheisen was presented with the Fred Beell Service Award for his 27 years and 1 month of service to the Marshfield community from 12/03/90 to 01/3/18. Ordinance Officer Dan Leonard was presented with the Fred Beell service Award for his 28 years and 4 months of service to the Marshfield Community from 01/29/90 to 05/30/18.

TRANSPORT and Booking Statistics In 2011, the Marshfield Police Department implemented the transport officer program. This program was created in an effort to provide a cost savings to the citizens as well as to maintain a safer community by eliminating staffing shortages when a non-combative individual needed to be transported to a facility outside the city of Marshfield.

K9 Unit 2019 Deployments

The Marshfield Police Department Canine Unit prides itself with the ability to provide a unique service that benefits our officers, department, and most importantly our citizens. The unit is comprised of two officers who train diligently with their canines to ensure the best possible outcome when they are deployed. The canines are trained to detect the odor of illegal drugs, track the scent of a person who may either be missing or hiding, and also to help officers locate evidence that a suspect may have discarded.
