In a new series of works for Sabah House London, Sam Wood has taken the native desert plants and locale of El Paso Texas as the lead for a series of whimsical new works.
‘These works are portraits really, each plant has such a distinct character and physicality, as does the outline of the state of Texas itself, they are characters I have had fun getting to know’
- Sam Wood Wood is a London based artist who regularly exhibits with Gloucester Room in Marylebone, as well as collaborating with some of the most prestigious luxury brands and iconic hotels worldwide. Recent projects include artworks created for Rixo, Claridge’s and Mauro Collagreco at Raffles London. Wood uses oil paint and soft pastel to bring his diverse range of subjects, playfully to life; from the intimacy of witty sketches on hotel notepaper, to full-blown, large-scale studies of lush English gardens and iconic architectural locations discovered on his travels.
