Red dot design award 2010 for "Wera Zyklop The coveted seal of quality "red dot" for high design quality was now handed over to the screwdriving tool specialist Wera from Germany. The ratchet innovation "Zyklop" was awarded by an international jury of experts at the ceremony in July 2010. Overall, designers and companies from 57 countries participated with 4252 products on the current competition. Design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec initiator of the red dot design award: "With the "red dot" the jury honors an "outstanding design and innovative approach". The universal ratchet "Zyklop" combines the functions of five different ratchets and one screwdriver in just the one tool. Fast working speeds are achieved by a flywheel mechanism that is combined with a free-spinning sleeve. The ratchet head pivots freely and can be set so that the screw or socket and the ratchet form an axis, like a screwdriver. In this 0° position the ratchet requires only a quick turn and continues to spin like a top. This saves time because the ratchet does not have to be set to an angular position, except for the initial loosening or final tightening of the screw or nut. The Zyklop works three times faster than conventional ratchets.
For over 70 years Wera has concentrated on the development and production of screwdriving tools. The company has never lost its focus on its core product, which has made Wera a specialist manufacturer with a worldwide reputation. Wera continues to inspire its customers with new and extraordinary designs for tools that produce better work results because of their special and often unique properties.
The particularly ergonomic Kraftform handle, well known from featuring on Wera screwdrivers and other Wera tools, and the rotationally symmetric construction transfer torque perfectly for fast, effortless fastening that is easy on the joints. A small return angle of only 5° makes it possible to work comfortably even in confined spaces. The catchy name Zyklop was derived from the product design. The design of the product line is visible even in the ratchet boxes. The "Zyklop" is one of the most successful product launches from the company. Wera was already awarded in 2009 with the "iF product design award 2009". In the first two years after the market launch more than 100,000 products were sold. From the re-award Wera hopes to further boost the ratchet sales. At the International Hardware Fair 2010, Wera even extended the ratchet range. The multi-functional ratchet "Koloss" is the first ratchet that can be used not only for fastening but also for hammering, striking and aligning without risking any damage to the tool. In addition, Wera now offers a robust yet extremely delicate bit ratchet for confined applications.

Extremely robust bit ratchet The new bit ratchet in a Kraftform design represents a particularly compact special solution that rounds off the range of ratchets made by the tool specialist. The new tool was developed for working environments where cramped conditions make the use of manual or power screwdrivers impossible. This Wera innovation represents a practical solution to a number of applications, including trade and industry and other specialist areas, such as medical technology, precision engineering, bicycle/motorbike technology and vehicle or furniture assembly. The Wera bit ratchet is designed for easy, flexible fastening using 1/4" bits and sockets. It is not only very compact but also extraordinarily robust. Forged from solid steel, the tool is able to transfer 65 Nm of torque, which according to the manufacturer is an extremely high value.
The tool can also be used with Wera’s Rapidaptor bit holder, which functions as an extension with a free-spinning sleeve for better guidance. The Wera bit ratchet has a fine tooth mechanism with 60 teeth resulting in a small return angle of only 6°. The forward and reverse switch has been designed so that it can also be operated with greasy hands. The Wera bit ratchet achieves high working speeds, not least thanks to its thumb wheel, which can be used to fasten or loosen screws.
This feature greatly accelerates the fastening process because the handle has to be used only for the last few turns. The new Wera bit ratchet has a matt chrome surface that offers special corrosion protection and provides high wear resistance. Ergonomics and product design had to meet exacting requirements during the development. As a result, the tool also shares Wera’s unique Kraftform design. The Wera bit ratchet is sold individually or as part of a set. The set includes a 31-piece Bit-Check with a bit ratchet and an adaptor for 1/4" sockets. Innovative ideas for screw tools Innovation based on good tradition is the trademark of the German toolmaker Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG. In its over 70-year company history Wera has developed into a successful and internationally recognized corporation. Instead of opting for diversification, the manufacturer consistently focused on the development and production of ergonomic and durable screw tools for professionals – from screw-drivers, ratchets and bits all the way to L-keys and torque tools. “In industry and the craft trades it is a long-established fact that Wera introduces a large number of innovations on the market every year. The most frequently asked question of customers, therefore, is not whether chiseldriver has an integrated impact cap and a hexagon “pound-thru” blade. This makes the tool so rugged that, for example, you can even knock off screw clamps with it. Furthermore, it can be additionally used as a chisel. The latest innovation is a ratchet with the attention-getting name “Zyklop”. The main advantages are the high working speed and combined advantages of five types of ratchet in a single tool. In addition to several demand-geared ratchet sizes, Wera offers various sets with accessories like extensions, sockets and sliding t-handles. As the company states, the broad spectrum of ideas developed by Wera is reflected in the numerous product advantages and the innovative product represents a real quantum jump in the ratchet market. Supported by state-of-the-art technology and software, the individual development steps are always carried out in a structured and success-oriented manner. The process ranges from idea management encompassing current creativity techniques to the construction of prototypes and extends all the way to user-oriented training for all employees and partners in Sales. Furthermore, the distributive trade and users have access to a training and competence centre, the “Werarium” in Wuppertal, which - according to Wera – is unique in the sector. To ensure that Wera can continue to operate successfully worldwide in the future, the Wuppertal company implements a global industrial property rights strategy. With more than 300 industrial property rights Wera is considered to be the innovation leader in the screw tools segment. Thanks to international market monitoring, measures can be taken immediately in the event of violation of industrial property rights. Imitations are then removed from the market at once, stocks as well as production equipment are eliminated promptly. For further information please contact: Wera will bring out a new innovation, but what kind of innovation it will be,” says Marketing Manager Detlef Seyfarth. The goal, he adds, is always to offer users specific solutions for their problems. A very successful example is the Wera chiseldriver. Through this product Wera demonstrated that screwdrivers are misused for diverse jobs in the workshop. A screwing tool for extra hard “side jobs” was developed against this background. The

Wera Koloss: The first tool to combine ratchet and hammer! The multi-functional Koloss developed by the tool specialist is the first ratchet that can be used not only for fastening but also for hammering, striking and aligning without risking any damage to the tool. Following the successful introduction of the Zyklop ratchet, Wera is once again presenting a fastening tool with special features that have never been available on the market in this format. The starting point for the new development was the fact that ratchets are often used as hammers in real life – a practice that often results in the destruction of conventional tools. By contrast, the new Koloss can safely be used as a hammer; in fact, it was specifically designed for this purpose. The distinctive names Koloss and Zyklop from Greek mythology were chosen by Wera to give these two unusual tools a unique position in the market. At the trade fair Wera emphasised that the Koloss with its multi-functional features opens up a completely new tool segment. It has been designed for a wide range of applications and replaces two separate tools. Typical applications that involve hammering and fastening in quick succession include mechanical engineering, vehicle construction and maintenance, civil engineering, industrial maintenance and wood or metal working. During the product presentation at the Cologne fair Wera explained why the combination of ratchet and hammer has to meet higher quality requirements. Since hammering subjects the tool to extremely high forces the hammer head is pinned to the shaft in a form-fit joint to prevent any part of the tool from accidentally becoming detached. Although designed to be protected during hammering, the square drive, inadvertently left in the drive position, automatically gives way to impacts and therefore cannot be damaged. The zinc phosphate-coated hammer head is drop forged to ensure that the tool can be properly used as a hammer. The hammer area can be covered with a protective pad, if necessary. The tubular hammer/ratchet shaft is a particularly useful feature because it minimises impact vibrations and protects users against injury. As a complete 1/2” reversible heavy-duty ratchet Wera’s new Koloss is suitable for forceful loosening and fastening of screw connections as well as precision work in delicate applications. The fine-tooth reversible ratchet has a return angle of only 6°. This makes it easy to work even in confined conditions. The Koloss has a forward/reverse function designed for heavy-duty applications. The push-through square drive was developed specifically for these special requirements and is considerably more robust than a switch-based forward/reverse mechanism. The manufacturer guarantees tool’s reliability at loads of 600 Nm. The new ratchet has a number of other practical features and functions that make work easier. A removable retaining ring allows the Koloss to be cleaned or lubricated without any problems. The shape of the handle is based on the Kraftform design used in other Wera tools and has been modified to provide optimum ergonomics also for hammering. Wera offers a wide range of accessories for the Koloss to deal with a variety of everyday requirements. The extension enables users to transfer more torque and prevents any risk of damage or injury potentially caused by the improper use of pipes or other similar objects. A pin, which fits into the end of the handle, can be used to centre lugs or align drill holes, for example. Rubber pad attachments are available for the striking faces to protect surfaces and components.

Precision and safety guaranteed
For over 20 years, Stahlwille, the renowned tool manufacturer based in Wuppertal, Germany, has been supplying the international aerospace industry with handtools. Its customers number not only world-class manufacturers but also numerous maintenance and repair businesses. In 1995, the company was awarded the Flight Aerospace Industry Award. The reason is that, with its Tool Control System (TCS), it makes a considerable contribution to air safety. And that has not changed to this day. With its general tightening tools and specifically its torque wrenches, including the corresponding testers, Stahlwille is one of the aerospace industry's Grade A suppliers. Indeed, Stahlwille supplies the equipment for almost every aspect of final assembly. In the fields of torque wrenches and the corresponding testers, too, Stahlwille is head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Back in 1997, the company was granted calibrating laboratory status by the German PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt) for mechanical measuring quantities in accordance with DIN EN 45001 in the field of torque. In this respect, the electronic wrenches and testers are particularly worthy of note. With their highly accurate measuring results and electronically controlled triggers, they meet the most demanding needs of the aerospace industry.
The highest levels of precision and safety standards are a crucial aspect of the work carried out by workshops specialising in the maintenance and overhaul of aeroplanes. This manufacturer has created a particularly high-performance generation of tools featuring High Performance Quality (HPQ) and spline drive tools for maintenance and engine overhaul. These are in use with many airline companies and the manufacturers of aeroplanes and jet engines, such as CFM, GE, Rolls Royce and SNECMA. In addition, Stahlwille's standard profiles have been equipped with the AS-Drive for many years to protect the corners of the heads on nuts and bolts. This means that these tools meet international standards, which is a basic precondition for being acknowledged internationally in this market. Just a few examples -

Fast, easy and accurate calibration with perfectControl New electrically powered loader by STAHLWILLE
Thanks to its power drive, the perfectControl loader considerably reduces the physical effort needed for calibration jobs. The spindle's precision bearing and the motor control system enable bad readings resulting from operator error to be prevented. The transmission system of the power loader is based on the mechanical Manutork equipment. Since the torque wrench to be calibrated remains in the same position throughout the calibration process, measuring errors resulting from the point of application of force being displaced, are prevented. Due to the use of low-friction linear ball bearings, the torque wrench is held automatically in a horizontal position and is free of friction. The accuracy of the readings is further enhanced by the reduction of lateral forces acting on the transducer and the reduced friction at the point of contact with the torque wrench. Quick and easy transducer changeover coupled with the use of an additional holder make it possible to calibrate a wide range of torque wrenches and torque screwdrivers. After the calibration has been successfully completed, the user can print out a calibration certificate. Thanks to its modular construction, the power loader can be individually configured. Extensions with additional components are possible any time. As a result of its compact construction and the correspondingly small pivot angle, the electrically powered perfectControl loader takes up very little space. The key benefits of the perfectControl are mainly appreciated by testing laboratories and providers of calibration services, because the power loader considerably reduces the effort applied by professional users.

STAHLWILLE manufactures high-grade tightening tools and intelligent torquing technology for applications in industry, car workshops and aerospace. The company was certified as early as 1992 in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. An irrefutable sign of STAHLWILLE's capability in the field of torque and torquing tools is the fact that the company's calibration laboratory was recognised and certified for torque by the German Calibration Service (DKD) in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 back in 1997. This means that torque wrenches can be calibrated and official DKD calibration certificates issued by us. The range of products also includes intelligent tool organisation systems tailored to meet the needs of specific industries or individual customers. One example of this is the "Tool Control System" (TCS), which received the prestigious Aerospace Industry Award. A key feature of this system is that it shows the worker unmistakably if a tool is missing by displaying bright yellow. With regard to the aerospace industry in particular, this represents a considerable safety factor. In this field more than any other, a tool "left behind" in a jet engine at the end of the shift is a real hazard. For further information please contact: STAHLWILLE Eduard Wille GmbH + Co. FastRatch 240” – the ratchet wrench that fits hex screws, nuts and union nuts like a glove Having difficulty accessing screws in hard-to-reach places – sometimes even without being able to see them? Need to remove low-profile union nuts closely grouped together on pipe flanges without constantly having to remove and refit the tool? These are situations that every practically orientated tradesman thoroughly dislikes, and up to now there has not been a suitable tool available. In the past, this has often led to hand injuries when the spanner slipped off the head of the screw and to inadequately tightened joints. STAHLWILLE has now developed a combined solution with its ratchet wrench. "FastRatch 240" (registered design) centres itself on the screw head like a ring spanner, can be fitted to the screw head from the side like an open-jaw spanner and has a built-in ratchet. Whenever union nuts on pipe flanges are to be tightened or loosened, the new tool really comes into its own. Thanks to the jointed handles with their integrated thumb-controlled opener, the wrench is easy to apply from the side by sliding it over the nut. When activated, this mechanism locks in the closed position and if the wrench is then turned in the opposite direction against the ratchet, it opens automatically so the tradesman does not have to remove the tool from the head of the screw or nut, and it re-centres itself again thanks to the ringshaped head and the locking spring. To loosen screws or nuts, simply turn the tool over. The arrow on each side shows the direction in which to apply the tool. Conclusion: Tightening and loosening screws and nuts on pipes is now far quicker and easier thanks to the ratchet effect. This newly designed tool will also take a firm grip on hidden screw heads and closes reliably around the head when pressure is applied in the right direction as a result of its geometrical shape and the integrated locking spring. Even where there is only a poor or no line of sight to the screw, the tradesman can be sure the ratchet wrench will do its job properly. As soon as force is applied in the correct direction to the handle, the self-grip function ensures that the tool grips the screw ever more firmly. Conclusion: No slipping off, no injuries and no stripped tools. Since the design and construction of the tool is able to compensate to a certain extent for slight tolerances in the screw head sizes, all the wrenches in the 240 series are equally effective on both the metric and the corresponding imperial screw sizes, in accordance with DIN 475 T1, ANSI B18.2.1 and B18.2.2, without forfeiting any functionality. Example: metric size 14 and 9/16". Conclusion: Fewer tools required and lower costs.

Thanks to the material used, the tools are remarkably slim and flat around the head, without jeopardising their strength or rigidity. This is a great benefit in hard-to-reach places. In addition, this stainless, hardened and tempered steel allows it to be used in food processing and medical environments. STAHLWILLE produce 10 sizes of the new ratchet wrench from 5 3 metric sizes 8 to 19 mm and /16 to /4 inch and also offers a tool set covering the most popular sizes.

Test the Difference flexural strength, surface hardness and toughness. In addition, matt chrome plated finish protects the tool blade from oxidation. The screwdriver tip means the key point where force is applied. BetamaX makes it possible for the blade to fit into the screw head perfectly. The geometry of the tips has been thoroughly redesigned: The result of this effort is self-evident both aesthetically and during use. The tip is fitted with marked, accurate profiles, which has allowed the troublesome “slipping” effect to be significantly reduced, while enhancing the overall performance of the screwdriver. Black finish prevents both the tip from being oxidized and the accuracy of the profiles from being affected in time. The screwdriver is, by definition, the tool that best maximizes the importance of working together with the hand. It is for this very reason that the three main components of the BetamaX screwdriver – handle, blade and tip – have been developed on the basis of both proven expertise as acquired by Beta over the years and major innovations, resulting from commitment to research on the relationship between dimensions and operating ergonomic factors. That is why BetamaX is different! The peculiarly combined colors – orange and grey – lay the foundations for intrinsically invaluable specifications. In particular, the BetamaX screwdriver is the name for exclusive design, the part supporting the thumb matching the three soft parts, designed to transform the force applied by the palm of the hand into torque load. This is the fruit of commitment to developing and testing performance in tandem with the engineers who work for the best teams in the motor racing world. A solution synonymous with a safer, more accurate use of the screwdriver.
The frame of the handle is made from Moplen® polypropylene. The physical characteristics of this elastic, sturdy, stable material remain unchanged under any climatic conditions. The core is firmly anchored to the base of the blade, namely the main point where torque load is applied Beta’s classic orange allows the screwdriver to be clearly visible in the workplace. The blade is so marked as to result in straightforward identification, as based on the indelible graphic mark in the handle cap.

Drill and screwdriver bits from the one source Because screwdriving and drilling are often two interlinked processes Wera now provides its users on the craft and industrial sectors with various drill bits and combined drill and screwdriver bit sets. The company is therefore expanding its product range in the field of drilling applications. The range now includes a nineteen-piece set of metal twist drill and screw bits and an eighteen-piece set of wood twist drill and screw bits. Both sets come in practical bags with velcro flaps. The user then has a convenient set of drill and screwdriving tools within easy reach. Besides these combined sets Wera also offers special drill bits for the most diverse requirements, e.g. combined tap and core drills, countersinks, practical sets of HSS stepped drills, etc. All sets are delivered complete with Wera’s patented Rapidaptor quick release mount. This can be inserted in cordless and electric screwdrivers as well as in the chucks of electronic drilling machines. This universal mount greatly accelerates bit changes without auxiliary tools. The bit is simply pushed into the receiver and engages automatically as soon as it is placed in the screw or at the drilling point. In addition, the user can control drilling or screwdriving reliably by holding the tool’s free turning activation sleeve – a great help when positioning on the screw or drilling point. Consequently, slipping and therefore possible damage to the workpiece can be eliminated.
Kraftform Fluid chemicals With the product family Wera Kraftform Fluid Chemicals the company provides users on the craft and industrial sectors needs-based auxiliaries for loosening seized screws and protecting screw unions against corrosion and extreme temperature effects. High Performance Screw Releaser is used to loosen severely rusted and seized screws quickly and easily. The liquid is sprayed on the affected screw and penetrates even the finest and underlying cavities to dissolve rust and dirt particles. A practical addition to Wera’s Stainless range is the High Performance Stainless Steel Protector. This cleans stainless steel surfaces of stubborn soiling like greases, resins, cement skin, etc., protects them, and promotes the surface’s important passive layer by forming a protective film that acts on the treated surface as sustained protection against renewed soiling. The High Performance Ceramic Lubricant protects against extreme temperatures and environmental effects. It facilitates the loosening of screw unions in heavily corrosive environments and is suitable for a temperature range from -40 °C to +1,400 °C. Besides its functionality Kraftform Fluid presents in addition a conspicuous design whose form and colours are based on the established Kraftform handle. This makes the product series an eyecatcher on the shelves for high recognition levels.

Screw Gripper The tool specialist Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG in Wuppertal has added the screw gripper to its range as an alternative to holding screwdrivers. The gripper holds the screw securely on the blade of the screwdriver. The gripper slides up and down to fasten or loosen screws even in tight spaces. Holding screwdrivers are used whenever screws have to be securely fixed to the blade of the screwdriver. The tool specialist Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG from Wuppertal has introduced the screw gripper, an innovative tool that turns every Wera screwdriver into a holding screwdriver. The compact size of Wera’s screw gripper makes it perfect for tight spaces, such as blind holes, where conventional holding screwdrivers cannot be used because their blades have a greater diameter than those of normal screwdrivers. Wera’s screw gripper is attached to the tip of the screwdriver blade and slides up or down to fasten or loosen screws even in difficult-to-reach areas. The screw is fixed in the screw gripper and held in place without magnetic force by two flexible gripper arms. The two gripper arms spread apart as they are pushed against the surface of the workpiece, making it possible to fasten countersunk screws in a single step. In addition, an integrated freespinning sleeve makes it even easier to guide the screwdriver.
The compact size of Wera’s screw gripper makes it perfect for tight spaces where conventional holding screwdrivers cannot be used because their greater diameter Wera’s new screw gripper holds the screw without magnetic force and fixes it securely to the blade of the screwdriver even when working overhead.
Wera’s screw gripper is an economic alternative to special holding screwdrivers whose manufacture is very complex. The new holding screwdrivers are made simply by attaching the screw gripper to a conventional screwdriver from the Wera range. The gripper is made from extremely hardwearing material with pull-off forces far in excess of the requirements of the relevant EN standard. The new holding screwdrivers are launched as two-piece sets that contain PH 1+2, PZ 1+2 or VDE PH 1+2 screwdrivers. For further information please contact: Wera - Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. Ratchet for rapid turning work Ratchets number among the most important tools for assembly and repair work in automotive technology. This is demonstrated very clearly in work on gears and engines. In engines there are numerous screw connections, from the cylinder head to the connecting rod bearing, that have to be loosened for maintenance. Often they are so difficult to access that normal spanners cannot be used. The special transmission of force and leverage of a ratchet is indispensable for performing all these screwing jobs efficiently. This means not only screws and bolts of different sizes and types can be loosened or tightened, but parts of the vehicle that are difficult to access can be reached without any problem.
By virtue of the “Zyklop” ratchet the Wuppertal tool specialist Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG furnished proof that there is optimization potential even for a presumably perfected tool like the ratchet. By means of this innovation, states the manufacturer, it is possible to work significantly faster than with conventional ratchets. In addition, the “Zyklop” is almost universally applicable and can thus replace several types of ratchet in a single tool.
The high working speed is achieved thanks to a swivelling ratchet head. It can be set in such a way that, as with a screwdriver, the bolt or nut and ratchet form an axis. In this zero-degree position a special rotating mass design provides for acceleration of the screwing process. In combination with a freewheel sleeve the ratchet is merely “turned briefly” and then continues to turn like a spinning top. This saves time because the ratchet is put in an offset position merely for initial loosening or final tightening of the bolt or nut. According to Wera, the “Zyklop” screws three times as fast as conventional ratchets. In addition, the exceptionally ergonomic “Kraftform” handle with rotationally symmetric design, known from other Wera tools, guarantees good force transmission and thus rapid, joint-friendly and fatigue-free screwing. Wera’s “Zyklop” offers a combination of six different tools altogether with an offset ratchet, flex head ratchet, nut fixing ratchet, fine-toothed ratchet, power ratchet and screwdriver. The Zyklop’s swivelling ratchet head, for example, performs the function of a flex head ratchet enabling the user to reach even difficult-to-access screw positions. The defined lock positions at 0°, 90° and 15° (from 90° position) ensure reliable work without any slipping of the ratchet head. Sliding switches mounted on both sides enable unlocking in every position. As a fine-toothed reversible ratchet with 72 teeth, the ”Zyklop” has a return angle of only 5-6°. This enables precise work with short travel and facilitates screwing in
30
extremely confined installation situations without much room for leverage. This means it is not only suitable for powerful detachment and tightening of screw connections, but also for careful work in sensitive areas of application. Furthermore, the “Zyklop” can be used with the ratchet head in the zero position and while employing a bit as a screwdriver. The bottom line is that it optimally meets a wide variety of screwing requirements with a single tool. For further information please contact: Wera - Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. Robust ratchet screwdriver that makes work particularly convenient Whenever it is a case of speed and screw-driving convenience, ratchet screwdrivers are always the preferred choice. Continual screw-driving saves having to repeatedly reattach the tool to the screw, something that is particularly advantageous when working in confined spaces. Against this background, the Wuppertal-based screw-driving tool specialists, Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG, has now added ratchet screwdrivers to its range of products; tools that allow not only for precise but also for powerful work. This is achieved through a fine-tooth design that allows a minimal return angle of only 8°. At the same time a maximum torque of up to 50 Newton metres ensures – according to the manufacturer – much greater strength in comparison to conventional ratchet screwdrivers. An easy-to-operate and ergonomic reverse direction switch enhances working speeds. Additionally, there is a lockable neutral position that allows fine adjustment work to be carried out. The ratchet function can also be disabled in this way should it not be required when tightening a screw. The new ratchet screwdrivers are also provided with the “Kraftform” handle, thus ensuring that work is done in an ergonomically safe way. The shape that fits perfectly into the hand prevents any improper strains and injuries. Moreover, the handle is equipped with a non-roll feature. satisfies the individual requirements prevailing in a host of applications.

Unbelievably fast Zyklop ratchet With ist new Zyklop ratchet the Wuppertal screw tool specialist is expanding its product range to include tools that grasp around the screw. With the Zyklop users can now perform screwdriver operations considerably faster than with the products available to date on the sector. This high rate of work is the result of a special rotating mass design that can spin at particularly great speed at the 0° position. In conjunction with the particularly ergonomic, rotationally symmetrical Kraftform handle known from other Wera screw tools the Zyklop ratchet accelerates the screwing process. The name was suggested by its unusual design reminiscent of the powerful Cyclops of mythology. Detlef Seyfarth, Marketing Manager at Wera, commented on the background to the new development: A good ratchet not only belongs in the standard tools for a mechanic, but is practically the heart of every tool box. We have therefore pursued a particularly demanding line in the product development. With the powerful Zyklop Wera is now presenting not only a simple ratchet, but a tool that combines the advantages of many ratchet types and screwdriver tools and in addition is unbelievably fast. This means that many fields of work involving screwdriving operations can be covered optimally with the one tool, and the user can profit in addition from the particularly good transfer of forces. The main advantage lies in the speed: the Zyklop works three times as fast as conventional ratchets.
small strokes and screwdriving operations in highly confined situations without adequate room for leverage. With the ratchet head at 0° the Zyklop can take a bit and be used as a screwdriver as well. Here too, the rotating mass design provides for considerable acceleration of the screwdriving process. Thanks to the ball lock, sockets and accessories sit firmly in the Zyklop s ratchet head for all applications. This serves to prevent the tool from slipping or falling out during work particularly in such sensitive areas like motors or engines when the loss of a socket would at worst entail the work- and costintensive dismantling of the entire assembly. Also, the ball lock on the Zyklop assures reliable tool control during work. All in all the new Zyklop from Wera is a fine-tooth ratchet, flex head ratchet, angle ratchet, nut fix ratchet, power ratchet, and screwdriver, or the combination of six different tools in total. All important sockets, extensions, bits, and other additions are available singly or in sets in the sizes 1/4'', 1/2'', and 3/8''. The sockets themselves have been designed in accordance with the new standard ISO 2725 Part 3 and can be used for both manual and machine operations. The provision of two different sets of sockets is therefore no longer necessary. Also in the detail this trade fair innovation from Wera presents a high utility value. For instance, the sockets have been knurled for manual operations and enhanced grip. The Zyklop boxes are made of solid metal and present an attractive design and practical features like rubber feet for stability and removable foam inserts.
For instance, with its swivelling head, the Zyklop also assumes the function of a flex head ratchet. The predefined lock positions at 0°, 90°, and 15° (from the 90° position) ensure reliable work without slipping. Slide switches on each side are used to disengage at any position. The swivelling ratchet head can also be used on screws that are otherwise difficult to access. The Zyklop is suitable not only for the powerful loosening and tightening of screw unions, but also for delicate work in sensitive areas. As a reversible ratchet with fine-pitched teeth it has a backlash angle of only 5 6°. This facilitates precise work with

Thanks to its handy, compact size, the Wiha Stubby is especially suitable for work in tight spots. The Stubby magazine bit holder is a small, space-saving screwdriver containing a bit magazine. If the cap of the Wiha SoftFinishÂŽ multi-component handle is removed, six bits designed for all common types of fastening then become accessible. Simply select a suitable bit, insert it and begin fastening! "Products that are successful are different to less successful products in that they are able to assert themselves in real situations," states the design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award. An award from an internationally renowned design competition such as the red dot design award is in this regard an important indication as to whether a product has the potential to assert itself on an international level.

Judging of products entered for the red dot design award is carried out by an international jury of renowned design experts. They inspect and test the products and assess them according to such criteria as level of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, service life, ecological compatibility and level of self-declaration. Wiha Werkzeuge GmbH is a company distinguished by technically mature and user-friendly tools. Innovation, quality and reliability form the fundamental values of corporate policy. "We are not satisfied with mediocrity but are intent on only offering our customers mature and durable tools of premium quality," explains Wilfried Hahn, Managing Director of the company. Numerous awards and a current spectrum of more than 4,300 products of the highest quality substantiate his claim. With it, Wiha Werkzeuge GmbH continues the development of userfriendly, versatile bit holder systems. Thanks to a new, practical solution for bit storage and removal, the user always gets the full picture: He now has "a grip" on bit selection and change. The eye-catching trademark feature of the tool is the swing-open magazine concealed in the handle which holds up to 8 bits. Alternatively, you can fill the universally equipable magazine as you wish. Therefore, the magazine bit holder is ideal for anyone who must work with several screw types or screwdrivers within a short time. The new magazine bit holder also accommodates the user in terms of price: Compact and well arranged equipped with 2 more bits than its predecessor, it is now around 10% cheaper! easyTorque for controlled screw applications The easyTorque screwdriver with a pre-set, fixed torque setting is an ingenious development for controlled screw applications with a pre-set torque. Used to assemble indexable inserts, it does its duty safely. The pre-set, fixed torque values are defined in accordance with the recommendations of high-profile manufacturers of indexable inserts. As with its big brother, the TorqueFix®, the easyTorque handle can be combined with the colour-coded, interchangeable blades from the torque range. If a blade has worn out, it can easily be replaced in no time at all.
This is practical and cost-effective. Typical for the easyTorque that offers best value for money. When the pre-set torque value is attained, the integrated mechanism disengages completely. This prevents the overtightening of the screw. Thanks to the robust industrial quality, the tool has a long service life and high functional safety. The opening torque is not mechanically limited in the anti-clockwise direction. Wiha offers ten torque handles in the 0.5 to 3.8 Nm range with a release accuracy of ±10%.

Affordable New Step Drill Bits Tool versatility means added value for today's contractors. That's why IDEAL has introduced a new line of double-fluted step drill bits that feature a 1/4" hex shank compatible with virtually every drill on the job site, including 3-jaw chuck, impact drivers, and quick change drill chucks. "Our Quick Change bits are designed to appeal to contractors interested in buying and carrying fewer cutting supplies," explained Aaron Mattison, Product Manager for IDEAL. "Using only a single bit, contractors can precisely cut multiple-size holes through brass, plastic, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and hard or soft woods." Key to the Quick Change bit's success is an aggressive split point tip that is twice as fast at initial penetration as conventional step drills. By dramatically reducing penetration time the bit prevents skidding across the surface, while also eliminating the trouble of making a pilot hole or punch. Each 1/16" multi-diameter step is radius-blended to smoothly transition from one to the next. Hole-size diameters are laseretched in the flute area for quick and positive identification. The double-fluted design, with its secondary cutting edge, yields more balanced, vibration-free cutting for exact, repetitive holes. To further enhance cutting performance, the bitsincorporate the most durable, double-tempered high-speed steel available for cutting tools. Three bit sizes are available: 1/8" to 1/2", 1/4" to 7/8", and 1/4" to 1-1/8", along with kit that contains all three sizes in a rugged blow-molded case.
Sir Nickless™ Armored Cable Cutter Helps avoid cutting wire insulation in armored cable Unnecessary nicks in armored cable wire insulation cause rework, call-backs and possible arc-faults. The Sir Nickless Armored Cable Cutter protects armored cable wires by drawing wires down, creating an air space above the wires, providing room for the cutting blade to shear through and sever the armored casing without nicking the wires within. World Novelty: 4mm endoscope for damage analysis at hard-to-reach places The Remscheid manufacturer of quality tools, tool carts and workshop facilities HAZET has extended its extensive product range by a world s first: the cold light endoscope "Torsion 360" with an outside diameter of only 4.2 mm. The endoscope allows straightforward insight into difficult to access areas or into the inner life of machinery and engines (eg valves, gearbox etc). Thus quick expert s reports and damage diagnoses are possible without costly dismantling work. The resulting increase in work efficiency and time savings reduce costs: the amount of work can be directly assessed, the immobilization time of the damaged component decreases and both, workshops and customers will benefit alike.
The brightness of up to 15,000 lux illuminates dark areas at the best. 17,000 glass fibers provide an optimal resolution. The reduced torsional moment allows for a twist of 360 degrees between the fingertips without any effort. The minimal bend radius of the endoscope is 30 mm and thus allows access to poorly accessible areas, such as in hollow spaces of car bodies or cable shafts. The small outer diameter of only 4.2 mm makes the cold endoscope almost everywhere operational; for example, with endoscope a very good visual inspection of vehicles equipped modern diesel technology is possible via the glow plug shaft. opening angle of 40 ° ensures a large field of view.

Cut in confined spaces The new LightCUT offset cutters by VBW are compact and light, reducing the effort required by the user. With its new LightCUT offset cutters, VBW, the specialist tool manufacturer from Remscheid, Germany, has launched another tool designed to make work on building sites that much easier. Compared with conventional bolt-cutters, the LightCUT is far lighter and much better balanced because the manufacturer has employed a light alloy for the handles. Thanks to the lightweight construction, users save energy during their daily work and achieve high levels of performance.
Thanks to the rounded tips of the cutters and the 20° cutting angle, steel wires can easily be cut even deep inside the box and against the walls. The amount of strength required is reduced because the geometry of the tool makes it possible to complete the cut with only little effort. Simple, accurate adjustment of the cutters thanks to eccentric screws and high-quality hardening to round off the excellent list of features incorporated in these LightCUT offset cutters.
Less effort – greater efficiency With its new heavy-duty MasterCUT steel fixer's pincers, VBW, the specialist manufacturer of pliers and cutters based in Remscheid, Germany, has extended its range of special-application tools. The MasterCUT is mainly intended as a building-site tool, in particular for jobs involving reinforced concrete, and ensures smoother, quicker work processes. These slim-line pincers are ideal for wiring up reinforcing steel rods which are not normally accessible. The unbeatable advantage of this tool is in the relationship between the effort need and the results achieved. The increased leverage provided by the long handles reduces the amount of effort required on the part of the worker by around 30%, which makes the tool ideal for strain-free long-term use. At the same time, the pincers have been constructed in such a way that the shock caused by the cutters meeting after the cut is absorbed to a large extent, which protects the user's hands.

Two Utility Knives In One Design Stanley® has launched its latest innovation in the cutting tools category – the world’s first twin blade utility knife. Stephen Skeels, leader of the company’s Cutting & Clamping SBU said, “Until now, users were forced to either carry two utility knives or constantly change the blade as they alternate between applications. In other instances, they would just simply like to work a little longer without having to stop and replace a dull blade every few minutes.” The new twin blade knife by Stanley® provides a solution to both scenarios because it is truly two knives in one.” The FatMax® Xtreme™ twin blade knife’s unique design allows the user to alternate between two blades without carrying more than one knife. Switching between a hooked blade and a standard blade has never been easier; the user can simply retract one blade and extend the other without changing a thing. Regardless of the application, this new utility knife gives contractors and serious DIY’ers more options - whether they prefer to load two different blades or just want to use two of the
same. The knife has interlocking blade sliders to ensure that only on blade is extended at a time (patent-pending). The twin blade knife’s InstantChange™ feature allows the user to replace a blade in seconds by performing three simple steps: press the button located on the tool’s nose, remove the blade, and then insert the replacement blade … it’s that easy. It also provides easy-access blade storage that holds up to nine blades for fast and easy blade changes. In total, this new knife has a storage capacity of 11 blades, if you count the two loaded in the front and the nine stored in the rear. Rubber comfort grips located on both the top and bottom of the knife help to minimize fatigue and reduce slippage.
Hammer With Oversized Strike Face The FatMax® Xtreme™ Antivibe® hammers made by Stanley® feature a 75% larger strike face when compared to traditional hammers (patent-pending) for improved striking accuracy. – Chris Woolley, leader of the company’s Assembly & Demolition Strategic Business Unit said, “The new FatMax® Xtreme™ Antivibe® hammer strikes a perfect balance between performance-driven innovation and the durable characteristics that both professionals and DIY’ers rely on every day.” The hammer’s most notable feature is its patented oversized strike face, which professional contractors immediately applauded when Stanley® took initial prototypes to field prior to launch. Woolley explained, “ 100% of respondents preferred this feature over traditional hammer strike faces, which is why we are confident that the line of six new hammers will be well received by the market.” The patented Antivibe® technology works to minimize vibration by acting as a tuning fork that dispels vibration more readily as the hammer strikes the work. Additionally, each hammer is precision balanced to improve performance and maximize comfort. The new line of Stanley® hammers feature a dual tempered head rim and claw to help reduce steel chipping and cracking for added durability. Moreover, they provide a sharper claw for improved ripping capability as well as a slip-resistant textured handle for a more secure grip. A magnetic nail starter helps extend the user’s reach while facilitating onehanded nailing capability. “This next generation of hammers sets a new standard for its category. Both extensive lab tests and end-user feedback confirm that FatMax® Xtreme™ Antivibe® hammers have indeed hit the nail on the head,” said Woolley.

2-in-1 Close Quarters AUTOFEED™ Cutter The RIDGID® 2-in-1 Close Quarters AUTOFEEDTM Cutter combines the RIDGID® Model 118 Close Quarters AUTOFEED Cutter with a ratchet handle that allows for easier cutting in tight, restricted spaces. The cutter can be used alone or with the ratchet handle. The handle, a light and ergonomic accessory, can be attached to the cutter and operated in ratchet steps as small as 10 degrees, allowing for fine indexing of the cutter to operate in tight spaces where the cutter cannot be rotated by hand. The RIDGID Model 118 Close Quarters AUTOFEED Cutter requires the operator to tighten the football-shaped knob only once and the spring-loaded cutter wheel will automatically cut. The cutter is adjustable from ¼-inches to 1 ⅛-inches outer diameter. The cutter is designed for use on hard and soft copper, aluminum, brass and plastic tubing. The cutter comes with a spare E-3469 cutter wheel in the knob and the ratchet handle is also compatible with the RIDGID Model 101 tubing cutter. “The 2-in-1 Close Quarters AUTOFEED Cutter features a new ratchet handle that allows more flexibility and mobility for users to cut copper faster and more efficiently when in hard-to-reach areas and restricted spaces,” said Kennia Papadakis, director of marketing hand tools, RIDGID. “It’s rugged and easy to use. It’s also ergonomically designed so it doesn’t slip in users’ hands when they are cutting.” The 2-in-1 Close Quarters AUTOFEED Cutter is backed by the RIDGID lifetime warranty
Press Snap™ Soil Pipe Cutter The RIDGID® Press Snap™ soil pipe cutter expands the capabilities of RIDGID standard press tools by providing a fast and easy way to cut cast iron soil pipe. The Press Snap cutter eliminates the need for manual ratcheting when it is connected to a RIDGID press tool. To make a cut, the Press Snap cutter is attached to the press tool, the Press Snap chain wraps around the pipe, and the user presses the trigger to make the cut. There is no need to score the pipe beforehand. The Press Snap cutter cuts most 1-1/2- to 4-inch no hub and service weight soil pipe. It works with all RIDGID standard press tools, including the CT-400, 320-E, RP 330-B and RP 330-C. “The Press Snap soil pipe cutter provides additional functionality to RIDGID press tools,” said David Roberts, plumbing and pressing technologies. “The new Press Snap cutter enables users to cut soil pipe in seconds with minimal effort.” RIDGID pressing technology consists of electrohydraulic press tools with interchangeable jaws and rings that press and connect copper, stainless steel, and PEX tubing in seconds. The Press Snap soil pipe cutter is backed by the RIDGID lifetime warranty For further information please contact: Ridgid Inc. 400 Clark Street Elyria, OH 44035-6108, USA www.ridgid.com

Stubby works in tight spaces
Bondhus Corporation has created a new “Stubby” line of premium quality hex tools that solve the problem of reaching screws in tight or obstructed spaces. The short arm is shorter than a standard short arm, bent with a tight radius and finished with a chamfered end to ensure easy entry into the screw head. The long arm of the tool has a ball end tip for fast insertion or extraction of screws at angles up to 25°. Stubby hex keys eliminate the need to trim and file the short arm which could introduce burrs, soften the steel and result in stripped screw heads. The tools are made from Bondhus’ exclusive Protanium® steel which makes them up to 20% stronger than competitor tools and carry the Bondhus lifetime warranty. All Stubby tools feature Bondhus’ proprietary ProGuard finish, which offers five times more corrosion protection when compared to competitor finishes. Expansion of Torqueleader Range Torqueleader ESD Electric Screwdrivers are designed with precision torque control in mind and have become a leader in innovative assembly solutions. This electric torque screwdriver is most suitable in the electronic and production environments. Low voltage motors combined with advanced electronics deliver precise torque control unmatched by any other production driver. The EF and K series screwdrivers ensure accuracy in the fastening process with precision automatic shutoff when the preset torque is achieved. The rugged production tools are designed to increase productivity and enhance product quality through the precise torque control. The torque setting is adjustable by the user and is set against an external scale and the supplied torque reference charts. The models offered cover a range from 5 – 440 cN.m. The screwdrivers require an external controller/power supply. A range of driver arms, accessories and power bits are available. The controller will also store the last mode used ready for the next time the unit is turned on. User selectable double hit function enables precise torque control for soft joint applications. The double hit mode causes the electric screwdriver to perform a second “hit” to stabilise the joint after relaxation. A high and low speed button offers the user the option of selecting the correct screwdriver speed for the type of application. Integrated overheat protection (OHP) and over current protection (OCP) protect the screwdriver from damage or malfunction The advanced temperature detection system powers down the controller and resets automatically when temperatures return to normal levels. Intuitive controller LED system advises user which mode is in operation. There is a Stop/Start and Screwdriver Lock output signal for the connection to PLC systems. The Controller has also an integrated RJ-11 socket for the connection to an optional screw counter unit. Switchable 110 and 230V input voltage. The unit will reset if the motor current is too high. Why choosing the Electric Torque Screwdrivers... ESD compliance - any lapses in preventing the occurrence of electrostatic discharge can affect production yields, manufacturing costs, product quality and reliability. Having adverse effects on reputation and profitability. Every Torqueleader ESD Electric Screwdriver is manufactured using anti-electrostatic plastic material, preventing ESD build up and hence static damage to electronic components. Air Operated V Electric Screwdrivers – the Electric Screwdrivers are less expensive to maintain than air operated drivers and utilise simple serviceable motor brushes and lower voltage motors that resist “burnout”. Electric Screwdrivers do not require the expensive pipework, compressors, water separators, filters/regulators needed to operate air systems For further information please contact: MHH Engineering Co. Pliers for all (securing) needs Circlips are rarely seen, as they tend to be hidden inside equipment be it simple household machines or complicated industrial units where they hold together parts and components. If wear parts secured with circlips must be replaced, it can be difficult to remove and reapply the securing devices, especially in the case of large internal and external circlips. Bent or broken circlips cause additional costs. As circlips are tensioned, there is also a risk of injury as circlips might suddenly be propelled from their fixture. The X-Grip circlip pliers from GEDORE are an all-round tool, as they can be used for the securing and removal of both internal and external circlips. The tool comes with exchangeable pointed tips for the tensioning and fixture of the circlips. The pliers can be adjusted from external to internal circlips by simply turning the tips by 180°. The force required to expand or close the circlip is applied with an open-ended spanner (spanner size 15 mm) or a 3/8 ratchet via a treaded spindle. The solid hardened gliding bar connecting the tips ensure parallel tip motion and thus prevents circlips from being bent or torn. Stop logs reliably prevent circlips from slipping off the tips, protecting both the tool operator and the equipment. The unseal pliers are designed for fitting and removing internal and external circlips (DIN 471/472) with diameters between 252 and 1000 mm. They are particularly suitable for use in confined spaces. The pliers can be equipped with two sets of tips (diameter 4.5 mm or 5.9 mm) to suit all circlip sizes.
100
GEDORE now offers its new circlip pliers in a set containing all accessory parts. The pliers and accessories are delivered in a steel box. Apart from the pliers, the set includes an adapter for large circlip diameters, an open-ended spanner, a ratchet as well as four replacement tips. The pliers and accessories are also available as individual parts.

TOOL TROLLEY 2005 with top dimensions! 985 775/ 435 173 .. These are the top dimensions of the GEDORE TOOL TROLLEY 2005 985 mm high for a user-friendly working height, 775 mm wide and 435 mm deep for drawers, and 173 litres capacity - a highlight for each professional tool user. For instance by comparison a standard bath holds just 140-170 litres when full to the brim! Time and time again with a tool trolley the user of large tools comes up against the limit of the holding capacity of the drawers. GEDORE has now developed a trolley which, with the same basic dimensions, has wider drawers and hence a larger capacity. The tried and tested GEDORE application details have again been included in this trolley. Thus the wide drawers feature a practical one-handed operation to release the safety latching system which prevents unintentional opening. In addition the drawers can be centrally locked by means of the cylinder lock. The working surface is made from well-proven ABS material which is oil and acid resistant. Moreover an additional work surface similar to a workbench can be created with an inserted wooden board (1500 HP). The trolley is supported by high-performance wheels, running on ball bearings, from Germany s market leader, so that a static load capacity of 500 kg can be achieved without restricting the easy manoeuvrability of the trolley.
Safety features, which should not be underestimated, are the total locking of the lightweight wheel and the well-known GEDORE impact protection in the heel area of the chassis! The side walls of the trolley are equipped with GEDORE square perforation which permits a clear display of the different tools. If this space isn t enough, a rear wall (R 2003), which can be raised automatically, can also be mounted. The GEDORE Module System also comes into optimal use here: The wide drawers can carry a generous number of module variants and thus guarantee clarity and order in the wide variety of tools! GEDORE was one of the first companies to market socket sets. These were known throughout Germany as “socket boxes” and are still referred to in Germany as “GEDORE boxes”. From the company’s establishment in 1919, ninety years of knowledge and experience have flowed into the production of GEDORE socket sets.
Made from steel sheet, the socket boxes are rugged with a solid, quality feel, and are finished in an environmentally friendly GEDORIT blue power coating. Various 1/2” and 3/8” socket sets are now available in the new industrial design.
In its new 2009 catalogue, the tool manufacturer, based in Remscheid, Germany, is launching a new generation of GEDORE socket sets. With infolded, seamless edges, the boxes are extremely sturdy and prevent injuries to the user’s hands. The ratchet and sockets fit snugly in an ABS plastic insert, which is resistant to oil and grease and is laser-marked with the socket sizes. The lid has a foam cushion to hold the sockets securely in place, when the box is closed, avoiding any losses. Stacking locators on the bottom of each box allow the boxes to be securely stacked. Large, rounded latches simplify opening and closing of the boxes – even for users wearing gloves. With soft-touch carry handles, the boxes can be comfortably carried for long periods.

Magnetic Box Level Stays Where it Sticks Like its non-magnetic predecessor, the e70, the new pro box style level em71 includes the unique, patented True Blue® solid block acrylic vial, which contains blue fluid rather than the traditional yellow fluid, as a symbol of enhanced accuracy, readability and durability. With over 50 pounds of holding power on the 48-inch model, all the levels in this new magnetic series will stay where they stick, assuring precision. The em71 is available in 24-inch, 48inch, and 78-inch lengths. With our strong history of innovation and customer awareness it is only natural that we introduce the em71 customized for professionals who work in drywall, welding, and steel fabrication, said Jenni Becker, president of Empire Level. These new magnetic models, stabilized with rare-earth neodymium magnets, have best in class holding power yet are easily removed with a simple twist-andpull motion. We believe the em71 will become the choice of professionals that demand the best tool for their jobs. Empire s customer research at construction sites nationwide has shown that a key requirement of a good level is the ability to read it quickly, and accurately, in virtually all lighting conditions. The em71 has True Blue® vials with patent-pending blue bands that darken and define the bubble perimeter to provide enhanced visibility. True
standard spacing of hinge plates, said Empire Vice President of Product Development Bob Hickey. This allows professional workers to use the em71 level on both wooden and steel door jambs. The True Blue® series includes the first and only contractor levels that are guaranteed accurate to fiveten-thousandth (.0005) of an inch per inch in all working positions, said Hickey. Shock resistance and protection ensures that an accurate level will stay accurate on the job. To meet the highest standard of performance, the em71 s new E-Shock co-polymer end caps are made of a dual density elastomer. This new level was subjected to multiple drop tests on concrete at varying heights between six and 10 feet, with both horizontal and vertical drops. After numerous drops, the em71 was still accurate to five-ten-thousandth (.0005) of an inch per inch in all level and plumb reading positions. This standard of accuracy is equivalent to a maximum error of just onethirty-seconds of an inch (or one-half the width of a dime) over six feet.
Blue® vials are produced through a proprietary process called Advanced Concentric Molding (ACM), pioneered by Empire. The ACM process assures repeatability so that all True Blue® vials meet the same stringent standards for accuracy, consistency, and concentricity. Another key design concept engineered in the em71 is that the neodymium magnets are carefully positioned in the level frame to line up precisely with the

Durability is integral to lasting accuracy, said Becker. What good is a level if it doesn t stay accurate even after it s dropped? We re confident that in tests, or the real world, the em71 will be the last level standing! Other features of the em71 include: tapered high contrast bezels that frame vials in all reading positions; better ergonomic frame geometry; and a lifetime limited warranty, the strongest warranty in the industry.

Our technical team at Empire has significantly improved the design and construction of the em71 for the rigors of today s fast-paced construction site environment, said Becker. We believe the addition of the new em71 magnetic series will help craftsmen save time and money while they produce the highest quality projects possible. With True Blue®, the only limitation is the standards of the craftsman. Empire Level has been a designer, innovator, and manufacturer of levels and layout tools since 1919. The company holds more than 30 active patents. The introduction of the True Blue® level and vial, in addition to the company s continuing commitment to innovation, have made Empire the preferred brand for tool users worldwide.

New tooling system for small diameters At last, very small face grooves no longer represent a problem Continuously more complex structures of components represent considerable challenges for modern tools. Very small dimensions have to be machined with the highest precision. In reaction to the increased demand, carbide expert CERATIZIT responds with their new tooling system MSS-AX with the following characteristics: small, precise and stable. At last, circular face grooves with extremely small diameters no longer represent a problem. Until now the modular parting and grooving system MSS from CERATIZIT was suitable for axial grooves with an outer diameter of at least 50 mm. The new AX system now closes a gap as the minimum possible diameter is now only 10 mm, leaving a ‘core’ of 4 mm. Here CERATIZIT again sets new standards in tooling technology. The new MSS-AX tooling system combines the positive characteristics of inserts and solid carbide tool bit solutions. Thanks to the combination of the two solutions, MSS-AX is suitable for the grooving and turning of a variety of materials. The doubleended inserts guarantee reliable swarf control for both grooving and turning applications.
The new MSS-AX tooling system from CERATIZIT is suitable for the grooving and turning of a variety of materials
MSS-AX distinguishes itself through easy handling and the mounting function of the insert which has been optimized for the application. The components can be changed in no time at all. The extremely high quality of all system components guarantees excellent repeatability, even after having changed the insert, thus reducing the machine set-up time. “Time-consuming setting procedures are no longer necessary after the insert change,” says Herbert Ronacher, product manager for parting, grooving and turning at CERATIZIT. “The customer also saves time thanks to the fact that more working steps can be carried out with one tool and the production process can be organized more flexibly. This pays off particularly for complex components.” The MSS modules from CERATIZIT have always offered customers high flexibility and an optimal price-performance ratio. They can be used with both right-hand and left-hand tools, their ‘hard & tough’ coating providing them with maximum wear protection and corrosion resistance. So the new tooling system MSS-AX, like all other products from CERATIZIT, is synonymous with economy, long service life and productivity. The carbide specialist CERATIZIT is synonymous with “hard material matters” CERATIZIT S.A. is a pioneer and global player in sophisticated hard material solutions. CERATIZIT mills with PCD and CBN cutting materials, making the automotive industry happy with productivity increases The tests are more than self-evident. The most recent scion of CERATIZIT’s successful product range MaxiMill increases productivity in motor engineering wherever up to now brazed tools and solid carbide tools have been applied. And the name of the game is: MaxiMill HPC 04.
specialist always maintains the high standard in terms of quality, products and services and counts on segment-specific and customized products. The new MaxiMill HPC 04 was inspired by MaxiMill HPC 12 and shows how successful this strategy is: a flexible tooling concept which is suitable for the majority of applications in aluminium and cast iron milling for the automotive industry. With MaxiMill HPC 12 it is possible to adapt the number of teeth, the form of the cutter body, the coolant, the cutting edge geometry, the rake angles and the cutting materials.
First trials at CERATIZIT customers have shown that MaxiMill HPC 04 outperforms the development goals by far. “In particular, when it comes to large overhangs, the positive rake angle proves to be useful, although PCD and CBN are ultrahard and extremely wear resistant cutting materials,” reports Lionel Legrand, Automotive Key Account Manager at CERATIZIT. “The HPC 04 milling tool shows excellent, safe and reliable milling results and a very cost-efficient tool handling, for both roughing and finishing operations.” Process security and particularly long tool life The automotive industries in particular place high demands on their tools. Processes have to be quick and stable and at the same time enhance productivity. In order to satisfy the continuously increasing prerequisites CERATIZIT developed an efficient MaxiMill HPC 04 tooling solution which guarantees process security with particularly long tool life. With this tooling solution, which is extremely well-suited for the automotive industry, carbide specialist CERATIZIT extends the successful MaxiMill program. The automotive industry is under enormous pressure to constantly reduce manufacturing costs. In this context, more efficient machining processes are extremely important. These can be achieved through longer tool life and optimum adaptation to the respective task. CERATIZIT, the world market leader in the field of innovative carbide materials for wear protection and cutting tools therefore consistently develops their product range. The carbide

Positive rake angle provides excellent surface quality For some years now, CERATIZIT has been helping their customers to work successfully and to increase profitability with MaxiMill HPC 12. The carbide specialist has taken on the tried and tested HPC 12 concept in a new way and has developed MaxiMill HPC 04 for the diameters 20 to 40 mm. The new milling tool makes HSC machining with cutting depths of up to 4 mm possible. Just like HPC 12, with its intelligent design MaxiMill HPC 04 does not cause built-up edge and additionally, thanks to the positive rake angle, the cutting forces are kept low. This leads to an excellent surface quality of Ra < 0.4 µm while minimizing component deformation. The stable cutter body made of steel together with the extremely hard coating, guarantees long tool life and precise repeatability when changing the insert. Easy handling furthermore ensures short setting times. CERATIZIT S.A. is a pioneer and global player in sophisticated hard material solutions. The company operates from Mamer, Luxembourg. 2011 AUTUMN
Practical quick-change magicians BESSEY never rests on its laurels – the clamp specialist is expanding its offering with new innovations and accessories in the area of one-handed clamps. To this end, we will be showing our EZS one-handed clamp, launched in 2009, for the first time at the trade fairs in Cologne and Nuremberg. Also, the practical DuoKlamp is receiving a clamp extension. For both these one-handed clamps, ease of use – whether for clamping or spreading – has been the main focus of the BESSEY designers. These clamps make the perfect assistant for professionals and do-ityourselfers alike, particularly for one-handed tasks such as over-the-head work and when using another tool at the same time.
The EZS one-handed clamp, available in clamping widths of 15 to 90 cm, grips with a force of up to 2,000 N, while at the same time being gentle on the clamping surface. The ergonomically shaped two-part plastic handle with pump lever is positioned behind the rail. This allows for a firm grip from either direction. Large, soft protective caps ensure a firm grip and protect delicate surfaces. An intelligent release mechanism allows the EZS to be conveniently converted from clamping to spreading. With the push of a button, the upper part can be released without the use of tools and placed on the other end of the rail for spreading applications. During the process, the release button remains firmly connected to the clamping tool, preventing it from getting lost. BESSEY has now given the tried-and-true DuoKlamp, which offers clamping widths from 16 to 65 cm, a practical accessory in the shape of the new DKX clamp extension. It is quick to fit, and makes it possible to work with large workpieces. As a result it is possible to achieve a clamping width of up to 1.65 m and a spreading width of up to 1.80 m with a “small” DuoKlamp. This helpful expansion, which makes the range of possible applications for the DuoKlamp even more flexible, is available for 19.90 euros (RRP excl. VAT) in specialist retailers. A special feature of the DuoKlamp is the smooth, large, continuous clamping surfaces with their protective caps. This makes it possible to conveniently clamp delicate workpieces, and also round or pointed objects. For further information please contact: Bessey Tool GmbH & Co. More than a clamp – a clamping concept! Wherever parts with delicate surfaces need to be clamped or spread parallel to one another, the BESSEY REVO body clamp is the ideal tool. Well considered accessories and technical refinements such as the tilting adapter, the framepress set or the new body clamp extension provide the right solution for practically any application. A powerful grip is guaranteed by clamping forces up to 7,000 N and large clamping surfaces. The REVO body clamp can be used for all applications – even behind and at the sides of the high-quality profiled rails. This allows you to clamp in locations that conventional screw clamps are unable to reach. They even have a grip on pointed and rounded surfaces. Craftsmen also enjoy being able to adjust them to the precise setting for corners and stepped edges. However, the REVO body clamp offers can be used for many more applications. It is not “just a clamp”, but rather, part of a comprehensive clamping concept. The REVO is made even more versatile by the well considered accessories. New to the BESSEY range is the KBX body clamp extension. This simple, but very clever clamping connection made from sturdy aluminium makes it possible to increase the opening width of the REVO up to 5(!) m. For clamping at non-right angles, the KR-AS tilting adapter is available. It can be easily slid onto the clamping jaws and is infinitely adjustable within a tilting range of 30°. The REVO body clamp has a practical extra feature for clamping frames: the KP variable frame-press set. It consists of four 90° angles. It can be used to custom-adjust the clamping pressure by inserting two clamps per corner. The TK6 table clamps can be used to easily secure the clamps and their workpiece contact surfaces to a workbench. BESSEY has developed another noteworthy product with the REVO KRV Vario body clamp. The Vario variant REVO body clamp for clamp lengths of 1 to 2.5 m is available with an infinitely adjustable head which can be moved at the press of a button. When it is positioned in the centre of the workpiece, this means that the weight can be well distributed – particularly when an object will be clamped for an extended period. Three interchangeable and glue resistant protective caps guarantee workpiece protection. Movable workpiece contact surfaces prevent direct contact between the workpiece and the grooved steel rail, without sacrificing the function of the jaw faces. Turbocharged clamps! The GH and GHSY lever clamps are now fitted with BESSEY`s new, patented rail profile. This makes these practical lever clamps even more powerful, raising the bar in clamping technology. Thanks to the optimised rail, the new level clamps have greater reserves of force. They develop the clamping force particularly evenly, which pays off most of all when using the full clamping width. However, the patented BESSEY rail profile has also appreciably increased the overall clamping force. This means that our next generation lever clamps can achieve up to 10% increases in overall clamping force. The GH and GHSY are especially helpful if you need to set and release a lot of clamps in as short a time as possible. This is due to the fact that BESSEY lever clamps build up clamping force in stages and up to five times faster. The optimised lever arm makes it possible to achieve sufficiently high clamping forces quickly, safely and in a way that protects the material, with little effort required. BESSEY lever clamps are thought through down to the last detail, proving once more why professionals say "BESSEY. Simply better." The sliding arm is toothed with extreme precision and forged from tempered, dropforged steel for a long service life. The stepped raster mechanism also means that the GH and GHSY lever clamps are not sensitive to vibrations, thus making them a extremely secure clamping tool for all sawing, sanding or milling work. The non-slip release lever guarantees a firm grip when releasing the clamps, and the GHSY Synchro-Lock represents an additional trigger mechanism, which works in the same way as a handbrake. It makes it quick and easy to release the clamp from any position.

Cut sheets without deforming The new Erdi nibbler from BESSEY cuts sheets without deforming - even on the smallest radii. The integrated cutting-off function then immediately removes the swarf. Clear lines Regular sheet steel snips tend to deform the sheet during cutting. The nibbler is different. It enables the material to retain its original form during the cutting process. BESSEY has now equipped the nibbler with an open die-plate, through which the swarf can easily run out. The integrated cutting-off function then removes the swarf cleanly. Good cuts The new nibbler cuts normal sheet metal of 400 N/mm² up to a thickness of 1.2 mm. Stainless steel sheets of 800 N/mm² can be cut to 0.8 mm thickness. It can also cut the smallest of radii down to just 25 mm. A drilled hole of 8.5 mm is required for cuts in the centre of the sheet. Secure grip Grip covers with soft material inserts in the upper part enable comfortable operation. In addition, the lower anti-slide device is set back and prevents the hand from slipping.
Cut safely The new ERDI safety strap cutter D123S by BESSEY can be used with one hand. The lightweight and convenient tool cuts steel straps up to 32 mm wide and 1 mm thick. Single-handed operation With the D123S, BESSEY is introducing a unique one-handed operation strap cutter to the market, which can even cut hardened steel straps of 32 x 1 mm. This means that over half of all commonly-used packaging straps can be cut, for example, steel strapping on wooden crates. Easily guided At 260 mm, the snips are very short and therefore also lightweight. The tempered head is slim, but also extremely stable. This means that the snips can easily be pushed under the taut straps.
Safely held A strap holding element, made of polymer material, firmly holds the strap down while it is cut, preventing it from snapping dangerously upwards. When the snips open up again, the strap can be safely removed. For further information please contact: Bessey Tool GmbH & Co. Compact in design – strong in performance This little tool has lots of spirit! The D15A Erdi Ideal snips are a world first for professional hand snips. They have just as much power as larger shears, is small enough to fit into the ruler pocket, and has an extremely reasonable price of less than 20 euros. This makes these compact snips a real all-rounder – ideal for professionals and for do-it-yourselfers. They have a unique construction. At only 18 cm long, the D15A Ideal compound leverage snips are extremely compact. Thanks to their short handles and small cutter head, they are able to reach hard-to-access places and handle the smallest radii. Even if their overall length is distinctly shorter than other snips, a thickness of 1.2 mm is no problem for them – whether it copper, aluminium, galvanized sheet or stainless steel. Because the lock and stop are combined, they can be closed and locked with just one finger, which is easier than with traditional compound leverage snips. The highlight of the tool`s construction is that the standard dimensions of the opening-width between the handles is constructed to allow the full cutting length to be used. As a small, versatile powerhouse which will fit into any ruler pocket, no handyman should be without the new D15A from BESSEY. It is an ideal cutting tool for all professionals – be they heating, air conditioning, ventilation fitters, plumbers or roofers – whether for regular or only occasional sheet-metal work. Using the new D15A Ideal snips saves effort. As with all other compound leverage snips, they consist of a cutter head and handles. Both parts have hinged joints, producing additional leverage. This means that, compared to snips without compound leverage, the D15A does the same work with around 25% less manual effort from the user.
Another benefit of compound leverage snips is also inherited by the latest addition to the BESSEY shear family: the adjustable bolted joint, which guarantees consistent cutting quality for over a year. To the observer, it could seem like magic! Years of development work and the toolmaker expertise of several generations have all gone into the D15A. BESSEY`s in-house quality standards are also your guarantee for a long service life: Each pair of snips is both adjusted and inspected by hand. All blades are induction-hardened and last up to 15 times longer than unhardened materials.

Innovations for structural steelworker Both spirit-levels are only 25 cm long which makes them a constant companion. One has a fixed 45° angle vial for easy checking of struts and 45° pipework; the other has an angle vial and scale which can be rotated through 360°. Advantages that appeal to all involved in structural steelwork: A milled measuring surface with a V groove and rare-earth magnets. These guarantee secure positioning and an extra-strong grip on pipes and other structural steel components. The horizontal vial has six rings which can be used to measure 1% and 2% slopes. In addition, both versions of the Type 81 SV REM spirit level have a classic vertical vial. Both types are suitable for overhead measurements. Type 81 SV REM W45 has a high-grade 45° vial in addition to the vertical vial.
The Type 81 SV REM W45 and W360 spirit-levels demonstrate STABILA s innovative skills twice over. Close contact with construction industry craftsmen and their constantly changing working requirements generates problem solutions which are distinguished by precision, robustness and lasting accuracy.
New professional spirit level for bricklayers and concrete workers. Strong - easy-to-clean and with useful details.
The extra-strong aluminium pressure-cast profile with two milled measuring surfaces is given a special coating by STABILA so that bricklayers and concrete workers can easily clean their professional-quality spirit-level. The vertical vials are at the end of the profile to prevent them from being quickly obscured by dirt. Depending on the length of the spirit-level, the walls in this region are either twice or three times thicker than elsewhere. Depending on the length, the profile of the Type 82 S spirit level has either one or two hand-holes which make handling easier and provide a better grip.
The Type 82 S is yet another example of how STABILA achieves creative problem solutions for specific building trades. The craftsmen can use these to optimise his working processes and make huge time-savings, even in routine work.
An abrasion-resistant cm scale on the Type 82 S bricklayer s spirit level.
A scale with 1 centimetre increments is incorporated into both sides of the profile before painting and coating. A good idea as it means bricklayers and concrete workers do not have to keeping reaching for their ruler.

Festool stands for "Made in Germany" Is it possible for a company, despite increasing and apparently more attractive low-wage countries, to maintain its location in Germany? Does "Made in Germany" still have significance and does it still bring the customer advantages? With the right concept yes, is the clear answer from Festool, who carries the "Made in Germany" sign as a symbol of quality, innovation, competence and professionalism from Wendlingen to over 67 countries. When something should be good then it's best done yourself Since 1925 tools from Festool (previously Festo) have been best known for their application in trade work. The company is known, in particular, for manufacturing high-quality electric power tools and also offering customers well-thought and perfectly employees it is not strict enough in many cases. "Because", according to the Festool Quality Manager, "when it comes to accuracy, for us there are no compromises as we know no tolerance". Also "Made in Germany" plays a decisive role here. Key word "99 ppm = 99 parts per million", a specification which demands output with 99.99 % perfect parts, also from the suppliers. This is only achievable if all processes and requirements are coordinated over and over again in close dialogue with all participating partners and a common understanding of the required quality prevails. Accordingly, for Gerhard Grebing the quality "Made in Germany“ is not a definition carved in stone but every day something new must be
coordinated system solutions. Since then the portfolio has continuously grown, several innovations have been developed and patents registered, but the philosophy still remains which has been proven to date: "When something should be really good then it's best done yourself". For this reason Festool manufactures its tools and the most important components itself – in close cooperation with local suppliers and in their own production site in Neidlingen, only 20 kilometers from the head office in Wendlingen. And whoever enters the halls immediately feels the special spirit, the passion, the identity of the employees with the products manufactured by them. Here one produces no normal electric power tools, here one doesn't simply mount a circular saw - no, here one is willing in each phase to construct a real Festool. A tool even that meets the toughest demands in terms of processing, service life and design. Only living quality can ultimately be experienced The quality idea has different facets at Festool. On the one hand, it is purely figures and norms and standards. For example, DIN EN ISO 9001, which specifies the quality management guideline. This is binding for more than 6,000 different components and parts. Starting with the right design of the drive, the precision of the ball bearing used to the programing of the complex electronic elements. Already a very strict regulation in itself, but for Gerhard Grebing and his 25

learned. "If we consistently maintain this direction", according to Grebing, "then all our efforts can also be experienced by the customers. Whether it is through significantly higher true-runs, less maintenance and repair costs and not forgetting less reworking and thus connected with this increased added value with each object. Design – Quality in its most beautiful form Design awards are one aspect. And these are presented to Festool almost at regular intervals, most recently the brand new jigsaw CARVEX PSC 400 was awarded the iF Design Award in Gold. But considering this more precisely, design for Festool is not an end in itself, but another important component in transporting the quality mark "Made in Germany" outside of Germany in a formal and functional manner. Put simply, only well-designed products can be designed in such great design offices. So for a really good design it needs then that little bit extra. Namely the construction sites and workshops of the tradesmen themselves. For this reason, Festool includes its potential target groups in the development process right from the beginning. The feel of the materials used, the grip quality, the weight and its distribution, the intuitive operation of the function switch, etc. are all factors that are constantly tested, scanned and applied to the design. A long and intensive process, but it's worth it! Because this results in sanders, cordless drills and jigsaws, which are easy to operate, fit ergonomically in the hand and facilitate the work of later users. "Made in Germany" – quality products with a longer service life It is no longer rare that tools are often still in operation after 30 years. It is no coincidence because right from the start of development work there is confirmation that the tool is designed for minimum wear, long service life and ruggedness. In order to realise the required technical properties of products, so-called finite element calculations and simulation tools, for example, optimize the design of components; infrared tool holders show the heat development of the machines and using high-speed holders motion processes can be studied in detail. Even if the product seems almost ready, we at Festool are not yet satisfied, because the product must also still undergo and pass extensive preliminary durability tests until it meets the quality standards required by Festool. This includes, for example, the dust chamber, in which a so-called Arizona dust, a particularly aggressive dust type, is raised for hours (see image). If the tool does not last then the fault point is identified and corrected. Or the so-called "shaker" with which the durability of the components is tested. The ruggedness is illustrated by the fact that even after tools are dropped, they continue to function and are ready to be used. Tools are tested for ruggedness by the development department, which performs drop tests from different heights. Festool also invests a great deal of time and expertise in the research and development of abrasives. For
138
example with a sanding robot, which provides practical measurement results for wear and raw depths. Already chosen for factory of the year several times Festool manufactures its products in the production site in Neidlingen. Approximately 300 employees work there, mostly female, using state-of-the-art production concepts. Also here the following is applicable to Festool: Whoever wants to progress has to be on the ball! And so the production plant does not shy away from comparisons with other, often larger, groups with production plants. In March 2009, for instance, the production plant in Neidlingen received the award "Factory of the Year" for the third time. In 2002 the plant received an award for "Best Assembly System", in 2005 for "Best Production System" and in 2008 the plant received the overall award for the continuity and sustainability of the change process. Factors emphasized by the jury were, in particular, the successful implementation of lean concepts, the consistent philosophy of continuous improvement, as well as the high quality standards. A further decisive advantage of the location of Germany is the close contact and dialogue with local suppliers. This is an advantage for both quality assurance and also the short transport routes and guarantees, at the same time, quick response times. A multi-talented tool for hammering, drilling and screwdriving Bosch is launching the Uneo Maxx onto the market, a new Uneo model that has a longer runtime, a more powerful changeable battery and a faster charger. The Uneo Maxx is therefore ideal for do-ityourselfers who regularly and intensively perform do-it-yourself projects in their house and garden. One tool for all conventional applications The Uneo Maxx weighs only 1.4 kilograms including changeable battery and combines three functions in one tool: hammering, drilling and screwdriving. Thanks to its pneumatic hammer mechanism, this multi-talented tool effortlessly drills holes up to ten millimeters in diameter into concrete – and it does so 50 percent faster than the best comparable competitor models. Simply throwing a switch transforms it from a rotary hammer into a drill or screwdriver. This means that the user no longer has to switch from one tool to another when performing conventional applications – such as hanging light fixtures, fitting kitchen cabinets or assembling furniture. Instead, he or she only has to switch from drill bits to screwdriver bits. These bits are quickly and easily changed using the SDSQuick system.
A logo on the packaging identifies the Uneo Maxx as a member of the “Power4All” cordless family. This means flexibility for the user: the 18 volt lithium-ion battery can currently be used in nine different garden and DIY tools from Bosch within this voltage class. Further advantages include the softgrip coverings on the handle for a secure and comfortable hold, and the “PowerLight” which ensures that the work environment is always well lit, even in dark areas. This cordless tool guarantees the user maximum freedom of movement. It is powered by a replaceable 18 volt lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries do not have any self-discharge, so they are always ready to use. They also have no memory effect, so they can be recharged at any time without the user having to accept a deterioration in battery performance. Per battery charge, about 20 holes with a diameter of ten millimeters can be drilled into concrete or 120 holes with the same diameter can be drilled into wood. Up to 130 screws (5 x 60 mm) can be driven per battery charge. Two green LED arrows show the user whether forward or reverse rotation is selected. The charging state of the tool is also indicated by LEDs: green means the tool is sufficiently charged, and red means that it should be recharged soon. The Uneo Maxx is quickly ready for use again thanks to the one-hour charger, which is supplied as standard.
140
The Uneo Maxx is expected to be available at retail outlets from February 2011 onwards at the recommended retail price of 199.99 euros. It comes complete with the one-hour charger, the battery, two masonry drill bits (six and eight millimeters), two universal drill bits for wood and metal (five and six millimeters), and four different types of long screwdriver bits. Once the user has purchased the tool, he or she can therefore start working straightaway. The most compact tools in its class With a length of only 259/260 millimeters (14.4/18 Volt) the new Bosch Cordless Jigsaws GST 14,4 V-LI Professional and GST 18 V-LI Professional in the “dynamic series” are the most compact tools in their class. They are particularly suitable for trimming or adjustment work in tight spaces or hard-to-reach areas. During these tasks, they stand out due to their perfect handling and maneuverability in curves. Professional tradesmen who want the cordless freedom of a battery-operated tool also benefit from high performance with these jigsaws: both tools offer fast sawing progress and long runtime with their 3.0 ampere hour lithium-ion batteries. With only one battery charge, the GST 14,4 V-LI Professional, for instance, achieves a cutting length of 18 meters in 22millimeter chipboard, whereas the GST 18 V-LI Professional even achieves 22 meters. Both cordless jigsaws are ideal for jobs where no plug socket is available or if short jobs need to be done in a number of different locations. The robust aluminum sole plate can be pivoted up to 45° for miter cuts. It has a plastic sole for optimum gliding over the workpiece and to protect delicate surfaces. A steel overshoe for the sole plate for cutting metal and a dust extraction adapter for extracting dust are available as accessories. The right tool for every construction phase Bosch is dividing its entire range of professional power tools with 14.4 and 18 volt lithium-ion battery into three tool classes with different advantages: “robust series”, “dynamic series” and “light series”. Both new cordless jigsaws are part of the “dynamic series”. This series stands for unbeatable battery runtime. Unique endurance in combination with high performance capability and a compact design make them the universal solution for all professional users in the interior fitting trade, and for carpenters, joiners or roofers. Convenient functions and easy handling Due to the ergonomic bow handle with a grip circumference of only 128 millimeters and a softgrip covering, the GST 14,4 V-LI Professional and GST 18 V-LI Professional ensure comfortable and low-fatigue working. The low weight of only 2.3/2.4 kilograms (14.4/18 Volt) also contributes to this. Both jigsaws have a tool-free one-hand saw blade clamping system with saw blade ejection and park position. In the park position, the saw blade only needs to be inserted. It is automatically locked. The saw blade is ejected just as quickly by operating the SDS lever, without needing to touch the blade. This feature is particularly advantageous if the saw blade is hot or broken. Optimal adjustment to different materials such as wood, plasterboard or steel sheet is made possible on both tools by a four-stage pendulum action and the continuously variable accelerator function. These features make it easy to perform precise sawing starts or clean plunge cuts. Cutouts in worktops for sinks or in wooden decking are as effortless as cutting to size solid wood, cable ducts, plastic pipes or trim panels. The powerful chip blowing function and the integrated LED lighting ensure the best visibility of the cutting line. The motor brake in the tools stops the saw blade immediately if the accelerator switch is no longer actuated. In addition, the motor is reliably protected against overload by the Bosch Electronic Motor Protection (EMP).

Light weight with good cutting ability
Available as from January 2011: The cordless hedge trimmer AHS 36 V by Metabo is the lightest professional tool on the market with only 3.9 kg of weight. Source: Metabo
Anyone who has to cut hedges far away from any power supply has until now been dependent on loud petrol powered or heavy cordless hedge shears. Now however, Metabo has now developed the cordless hedge trimmer AHS 36 V, a light weight machine with excellent cutting properties for professional use. The hedge trimmer, which will be introduced to the market in January 2011, is the lightest professional tool on the market weighing in at only 3.9 kg. Whether you are a janitor, landscaper or gardener, professionals cut large hedge areas with this machine with ease and without the risk of accidentally cutting through a mains cable. Its also friendly in terms of noise pollution on e.g. cemeteries and in parks. The AHS 36 V compliments Metabo's range of mobile gardening tools. An extensive range of gardening cordless tools is now available to the professional: the PowerTrimmer, PowerCutter and the new AHS 36 V. Fast and powerful cut The cutting properties speak for themselves: The machine permits fast efficient work with a blade length of 55 mm and a stroke rate of 2,700 cuts per minute. Thanks to a cutting capacity of 20 mm and professionally sharpened blades in typical Metabo quality, even thicker branches can be removed without any effort. The precision blade guides ensure an ideal cutting quality and thanks to the low friction loss, a longer battery life is achieved. The aesthetic appeal of the hedge trimmer lies also in its dynamic design and rubber coated handles.
Convincing safety concept Long service life and safety - this is what Metabo focused on even for the AHS 36 V. An impact protection plate at the front end of the blade shaft ensures that the blades are optimally protected even when placing it on a hard surface. The Electronic Single Cell Protection (ESCP) developed by Metabo prevents the battery from being overcharged and also prevents a damaging deep discharge when working. The tool switches off automatically as soon as the battery is too hot or the blades of the hedge trimmer are jammed. ESCP prolongs the service life of battery and tool and ensures safe working. The safety system is so effective that Metabo grants a threeyear warranty on the battery.

From case to problem solver Metabo introduces a new case concept with a system which sets the standard in the construction and metalworking industries. It ensures that the professional user has their entire kit, power tools, accessories and consumables, ready to go and in accordance with the task in hand. It also ensures that it equipment is easily transported from site to site. Alongside the main very robust tool case, the new system is characterized by the PlusBox – a true innovation which Metabo has already registered for patenting. The PlusBox can be used separately to accommodate small items such as screws and drill bits, replacement batteries or safety equipment, but then up to two PlusBoxes can be attached to either side of the main carry case, ensuring that the professional user is perfectly equipped for all their tasks. The clever boxes are extremely practical even without the case. The user can mount them to a wall or in a vehicle using the metal brackets supplied and use them to store or transport consumables. Metabo will be introducing the case system step-by-step for almost all power tool product groups between Autumn 2010 and Spring 2011. The versatility of the power tools made by the traditional manufacturer is reflected in the new case concept. Two case sizes are sufficient to accommodate the power tool range along with the associated standard accessories. The two versions are either 112 or 132 millimeters in depth but the same length and height (495 x 320 mm) which ensures that they are easier to stack and store. The offset positioning of the handle makes it possible to carry two cases in one hand with no difficulties at all. The case is made of polypropylene with metal clips. This ensures that the case is resistant to bumps, scratches and other wear and tear as well as providing optimum protection for your Metabo tools at all times. The interior offers plenty of space: It is compartmentalized by dividers which keep the tools stable and also enable flexible packing to include batteries, chargers, additional handles, grinding discs, battery–powered lamps and other accessories. On the left and the right of the case, dovetails are used to fit the boxes. With dimensions of 116 x 320 x 112 millimeters they expand the already generous capacity of the case considerably. The boxes are supplied with removable dividers so that the user can configure the box to suit their requirements. Simply exchanging the boxes enables the users to adapt their kit to suit the task in hand. In this way, the case system not only improves organization, it is also a practical aid for the professional user. For further information please contact: Metabowerke GmbH & Co. Flexible core drill master MAG 32 and MAG 50 are the two new magnetic core drills from Metabo. With these drills, professional users are able to undertake numerous drilling tasks from small keyhole sizes, to location holes for bridge and machine construction as well as dockyard work. The compact MAG 32 is designed for core drilling tasks up to 32 mm and coventional drilling up to 13 mm in diameter and is ideal for mobile use. The MAG 50 is characterized by its versatility. It can be used as a core drill and conventional drill for maximum diameters of 50 mm or 20 mm respectively, but it can also be used as a thread cutter, countersink and frictional tool. Metabo offers appropriate HSS and carbide core drills for steel, non-ferrous and light metals as well as additional accessories such as a quick-change system and a wide range of adapters. The bigger and deeper the hole to be drilled and the harder the materials involved, the greater the advantages of core drilling. Whereas a conventional drill needs to remove the entire diameter, the core drill only needs to remove the thin ring of material at the edge of the drilled hole and eject the core, an economic procedure but one that makes high demands of the tool used. The new magnetic core drills with their powerful and extremely robust Metabo Marathon motors ensure excellent drilling performances even when in constant use. The integrated coolant tank is particularly practical. The coolant is guided automatically to the tip of the drill, thus ensuring that the user does not require an additional coolant spray. The fact that the machine can be operated with one hand is, for example, very practical when working on a ladder. The precise dovetail guide enables precise drilling. Strong magnets the effectiveness of which is increased from 70 to 100 percent when activated give the drill secure hold. The scope of delivery includes a securing strap that can be used to secure the drill to scaffolding when carrying out vertical and overhead work. The MAG 32 with its 1,010 Watt motor and 450 revolutions per minute is one of the most powerful machines in its performance class. The usually large hub area of 160 mm means that large tools, for example, spiral drills can also be used. Metabo supplies the drill with the current 他 inch or 19 mm Weldon chuck. This can be used to directly accommodate HSS and carbide drills. Thanks to the various adapters, it can also use core drills from other manufacturers as well as current chucks for conventional drill bits. The MAG 50 goes even further. It provides a performance of 1,200 Watt and, with the two-speed oil bath gear, offers two speeds: in first gear, 100 to 250 rpm, in second gear 200 to 450 revolutions per minute. The Vario-Tacho-Constamatic (VTC) full wave regulation electronics enables stepless regulation of the revolutions. In order to prepare the drill for core and full drill, frictional drilling and countersinking, it has a 160 mm hub area. The user must switch from right rotation to left to cut threads. The Cutting Edge in Cordless Whether roofer, antenna manufacturer or locksmith: More and more professsionals in the construction and metal working sector value the use of cordless angle grinders. Wherever mains cables get in the way, the mobile tools impress with their great flexibility. Proof that this does not impair endurance shows in a new development from Metabo. In September 2010, the traditional manufacturer has introduced their cordless angle grinder W 18 LTX, with 18 volts and a disc diameter of 125mm. The machine impresses with its 3.0Ah lithium ion battery pack technology and especially powerful electric motors. The result of this combination is an angle grinder from Metabo that manages the highest amount of cuts with one battery charge in metal - up to 45 per cent more than comparable professional tools of the competition. Handy: rotating battery pack, detachable dust filter The W 18 LTX is the only professional cordless angle grinder with a rotating battery pack. This permits the craftsman to work comfortably in hard to reach areas and an important benefit is the slim, compact construction of the tool. A unique selling proposition is the detachable dust filter which prevents metal particles from entering the ventilation slots and damaging the motor. Such protection is very useful for cordless angle grinders as the permanent magnets of the battery pack attract the metal dust. Handy for the craftsman: The filter can be fitted and detached without tools and can be cleaned easily using compressed air. To speed set up, the machine comes with a quick tool change system which permits changing the grinding discs without tools. More protection thanks to direct temperature monitoring Typical of Metabo is the multifunctional monitoring system. In order to prevent an overload situation, a sensor measures the temperature directly at the motor - a unique function for a cordless angle grinder. The monitoring of current ensures that the machine switches off immediately should there be any lock up of the disc. The battery pack temperature is also constantly recorded. If it reaches a critical level, the device switches off. The electronic single cell protection (ESCP) protects each individual battery pack cell from getting completely drained during working or from any overload during the charging process. This monitoring system increases the service life of machine and battery pack. The reliability of these high-quality battery packs is reflected by the 3-year guarantee Metabo

offers on even its batteries. In special situations the no-volt release switch prevents the angle grinder from starting again accidentally after changing the battery pack and this safety cut out is visible by means of an LED warning light. This ensures that the professional user can work not only quickly and comfortably with the cordless angle grinder W 18 LTX, but also gets that extra bit of special safety. Color-Coded AO-BQ Polishing Wheels The next generation of the wellproven AO-Q product range were introduced to the market with the name “AO-BQ” the range comprises a foamed-polyurethane base matrix, homogeneously impregnated with abrasive grits and polishing agents. This range was developed for use on straight-line and double-edger machines, for edge finishing of all types of flat glass. Research and development of bonding AO-Q was driven by a fundamental principle: “theory is important, but practice is decisive.” The grit size of the polishing wheels is now color-coded, ranging from blue (coarsest) to yellow (finest) to facilitate fast and easy wheel replacement. Bonding AO-BQ advantages in operation include optimum grain adhesion, long working life and high profile stability, resulting in excellent surface finishes at low working pressures. These characteristics are particularly useful when finishing laminated safety glass on straight-line edgers. This process is often adversely affected by small particles of the plastic lamination film, which break away and then clog both diamond and polishing wheels. To avoid this problem, ARTIFEX has developed ‘segmented’ polishing wheels, which eliminate the clogging problem by flushing out the laminate residues through the combination of the wheel design and coolant flow. Bonding AO-BQ segmented wheels are also recommended for thick float glass (19 & 25mm) where the wheel design also reduces heat generation in operation. The ARTIFEX Bonding AO-BQ range is available in cup wheel form on a support plate or in complete material and with continuous or segmented bands. For machine designs where the mounting spindle uses counterbores. ARTIFEX recommends cup wheels on epoxy-resin mounting plates, as
the resin plate itself gives greater stability and strength in operation. Unmistakable colors! The new product range is available in grits AO 40 BQ 6 (blue) AO 60 BQ 6 (green) AO 80 BQ 6 (red) AO 120 BQ 6 (yellow). By color coding the various tools, confusion in grit selection is eliminated. As well as their standard range, ARTIFEX also develop bespoke solutions for machinery manufacturers aimed at meeting the requirements of the customer and their specific surface-finishing demands. This close cooperation ensures the highest level of product development and production, resulting in optimization of manufacturing process for all parties – or in other words the common goal.

Technical information on Artifex abrasive tools Grinding In grinding operations, stock is removed from the workpiece using a tool consisting of an abrasive material suspended in a bonding medium. The performance of the tool is dependent on the size, hardness and concentration of the abrasive grit as well as the hardness and elasticity of the bond. Abrasive materials The most commonly used abrasives are aluminium oxide (standard, semi-pure and white) and silicon carbide. The aluminium oxides are softer than silicon carbide, making them ideal for use with relatively tough materials, such as steel, cast steel and malleable cast iron. Silicon carbide, which is almost as hard as diamond, is used on a range of materials with lower mechanical strength, such as cast iron and non-ferrous metals. Hardness One of the major factors affecting the performance of a tool is its hardness. The elastic bonding medium used in Artifex abrasives is specifically designed to adapt to the geometry of each individual workpiece. Since each abrasive grain is fully suspended in the bond, a perfect surface finish is guaranteed. Grinding with Artifex tools - Artifex elastic bonded tools are particularly effective in applications where conventional ceramic or synthetic resinbonded tools offer no improvement in surface finish. - Artifex tools are available in a range of hardness grades for each individual grit size. The choice of grades provides a wide spectrum of performance, ranging from extremely high stock removal (hard bond) to ultra-fine surface finishing (soft bond). - Abrasive wheels are much more durable than conventional sanding belt tools because fresh abrasive grit is constantly brought to bear on the workpiece. The surface finish achieved with Artifex tools is therefore consistent throughout the entire service life of the tool. Surface roughness with Artifex P The series of charts on the left shows the differences in surface finish that can be achieved by simply varying the grit size on an Artifex P grinding tool. All other parameters, including the type of bonding medium, are identical.

Staying ahead through advanced engineering The compact class of petrol chainsaws from DOLMAR Users of petrol chainsaws, whether professionals or demanding homeowners, recognize that the DOLMAR brand name stands for short innovation cycles, sophisticated engineering and long years of reliable service. At demopark 2007 the long-established Hamburg power products manufacturer – which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year – unveiled a new compact class of petrol chainsaws While the term “innovative” is much overworked these days, it certainly applies to the two new DOLMAR petrol chainsaws. These powerful machines for the quality-conscious private and semiprofessional user incorporate a series of technical refinements that set new standards in this product segment. The new PS-420 and PS-350 compact petrol chainsaws from DOLMAR are driven by powerful, free-revving and hightorque engines made from lightweight magnesium castings. Featuring a vertical 6-port die-cast cylinder, the engines have displacements of 42 cm³ and 35 cm³ respectively and are rated at 2.1 kW and1.6 kW. Starting system For many homeowners, the hardest part of using a petrol chainsaw is getting it started. So they in particular will welcome the springassisted starting system fitted to the new DOLMAR compact class chainsaws. This clever and sophisticated starting system is a minor technical triumph and makes the new chainsaws much easier to start and a real pleasure to use. The system works by using spring pressure to help overcome the compression resistance. The side-mounted air intake on the engine housing is positioned to ensure that the combustion air is drawn in where it is likely to be cleanest – well away from sawdust and chips.
automatically return to its starting position. For Service position depress the combination switch fully until it locks in the safety position. Primer pump The easy-start system developed by DOLMAR’s engineers and fitted as standard is characterized by a new ignition curve for optimized engine management, particularly at the starting stage. 3 or 4 strokes on the fuel pump (primer) fitted as standard serves to fill the LE carburettor with fuel. For easier starting from cold the combination switch is moved to its upper position to operate the half-throttle and choke functions. Now the chainsaw can be started with very little effort just by pulling the starter cord a few times. Air filter The large-capacity air filter has sloping sides, preventing dirt from collecting on the surface, while a collar around the housing effectively prevents dirt ingress from outside. Maintenance and cleaning of the air filter could not be simpler. The cover is held in place by a central screw and clips, which can be removed without tools for quick, easy cleaning of the nylon mesh filter insert.
Combination switch An important new safety feature is DOLMAR’s “Touch & Stop System”. As the name suggests: just a light dab on the combination switch will cause the engine to cut out immediately in any situation, and the switch will

Everything for watering the garden Kärcher has greatly expanded its range of products for conveying, transporting and deploying water. Along with garden pumps, the cleaning equipment manufacturer now offers spray guns, sprinklers, rain guns, automatic watering systems, hoses, hose trolleys and couplings. All couplings are compatible with other makes of connector.
Nine different spray guns and manual spraying devices and a spray lance make it easy to water lawns, vegetable plots and flower beds. They feature precisely adjustable spray patterns, an easily adjustable water flow and good ergonomics. For those who do not want to water manually, Kärcher has eight different models of rain gun for small and large areas, including circular, rectangular, spray and multipurpose systems.
A 15-year manufacturer s guarantee on all models speaks for their high quality. Hoses can be stowed away tidily on three different hose trolleys or brackets. The HR 25 bracket is very compact, easily portable and can be wall-mounted if required. Both trolleys have a hose guide for easy spooling in both directions. The top of the range HT 80 has an all-steel frame and drum and a height-adjustable push bar. The handle of the HT 60 folds down for space-saving storage. Kärcher s one-way and multi-way tap couplings and various hose couplings are made of high-grade plastic with anodised aluminum, or of hard-wearing brass. Couplings can be used universally with all popular diameters, thanks to a patented hose connecting element that fits 1/2, 5/8 and ¾ inch hoses. The tap connector has an internal thread that is useful for connecting a hose to kitchen or bathroom taps. If you are away from home for some time or want to water at fixed intervals, water timers and computers will take charge of watering the garden. Kärcher has added four such devices to its product portfolio. Different watering cycles and spreads enable watering to be adjusted optimally to the needs of plants. The two high-end models can be connected to the new Kärcher rain sensor, which measures rainfall and adjusts irrigation accordingly.
Also new to the range are highly elastic and kink-proof hoses in a variety of lengths and diameters. The double reinforcement of Kärcher s patented Super Trico-Net hose makes it extremely hard-wearing. It has a burst pressure of 35 bar, ten times greater than normal tap water pressure.

All you need to tackle the garden “PowerCutter Li” – an all-rounder in the green outdoors Weeds, treeing and unshapely box trees: no garden is ever entirely finished as there’s always something to be done, regardless of the time of year. But without hard work and green fingers, nature swiftly goes wild. And without the appropriate tools, of course. Garden-lovers who think they already have everything will be thrilled with the new “PowerCutter Li” from Metabo featuring a reliable replaceable lithium-ion power pack. From trimming hedges through cutting soft and hard wood to filigree pruning of box hedges, this nifty all-rounder easily masters any task in a single operation, regardless of the direction, claims the manufacturer. The heart piece of this multi-talent and innovative product is its rotating cutting blade. Apparently, it rotates 1,400 times a minute in no-load run supplying the 7.2-Volt device weighing in at a mere 1 kilogram with significantly more power than comparable cutting tools. It therefore makes light work of plants up to 8 mm thick as well as swift and accurate trimming in tight spaces. Accidental contact with the blade from the side is prevented by a fixed safety blade mounted above the rotating cutting blade. A transparent hand guard provides additional protection from injury while an ergonomically-shaped and rubberized handle ensures a secure hold when cutting. Apart from numerous applications, the supplier based in Nürtingen also took consideration of the various area sizes and user needs when developing this electric power tool and therefore designed the device in two different versions offering the same functions. While the “PowerCutter Li” offers a power pack capacity of 1.1 amperehours (Ah), the “PowerCutter Li (Pro)” is designed for 2.2 Ah and even predestined for “24-hour jobs” thanks to the extra power pack also supplied. With the result that this innovative newcomer is ideal for both amateur gardeners at home and professional landscape gardeners. The “LC 60” charge station is a firm component of the range for both models. Unlike comparable products, it promises by far the shortest charging times of 30 minutes (1.1 Ah) and 60 minutes (2.2 Ah), respectively – a very practical feature for those who enjoy tinkering around outdoors as well as indoors where they also rely on battery-operated devices: These power packs are compatible with the “PowerMaxx Li” and “PowerGrip Li” (drill) screwdrivers offered by Metabo. With a gearbox housing made of aluminum and diamond-ground blade teeth made of highquality steel, both the “PowerCutter Li” and the “Pro” version represent extensive durability.
166
What’s more, the cutting blade in the “Pro” range can be used on both sides which in turn doubles its lifecycle. The blades on both models can be easily sharpened using a whetstone. Good working results are also ensured by careful storage and regular maintenance which are guaranteed in the form of a slipcase for mounting on the wall as well as the appropriate oil or spray from the accessories range and included in the scope of supply. Appearance and finish are, as usual, of a high standard. The control elements are on the handle and are easily accessible. Even small hands are able to use the one-handed controls. Naturally, the blades are top quality, as is only appropriate for a set of WOLF-Garten shears. The system for changing the blades quickly allows the problem-free changeover, without getting greasy fingers. Within a few hand movements, the lawn shears become pruning shears and vice versa.
Garden Secateurs with Power
Long-lasting batteries offer a high cutting performance; they supply power for an average running time of 50 minutes. The charger only requires two-and-a-half hours to “fill it up”. The practical and comfortable packaging is simultaneously the docking and the charging station. It can be easily fitted onto the wall – then the blades are stored safely. The family garage is the optimal place to offer dust protection. Other blades can be kept there as well.
Fully Automated Power Tool – Not just for the Pros! Blackberries, roses, vines, perennials – sometimes the seemingly endless task of pruning can test the strength of even the most enthusiastic gardener. Motor-powered secateurs have been available – but only for commercial use. Now LI-ION Power RR 3000 garden secateurs are on the market. WOLFGarten again takes innovative steps to kit out its customers with the best gardening tools designed to keep everything in trim. The amateur gardener used to depend on his own strength to prune back unruly plants. Some secateurs were automated, but were mainly for pros, and too expensive. The equipment was not suitable for the home-based amateur gardener. But landscaping at home increasingly calls for better equipment. Tools should be lightweight and easytouse, so the product reaches a wider target group. The RR 3000 garden secateurs live up to all these requirements – for a maximum branch diameter of 15 mm, this battery-operated garden tool can perform 400 pruning actions. And the blades are top quality – as you’d expect from WOLF garden secateurs. For stable use and with soft grip for secure handling. The RR 3000 is reliable to use and perfect pruning jobs are light work.

garden lawn or for shrubs on vegetated roof-decks in front gardens, on balconies or patios and even on the camp site. Lithium-ion batteries were first used as an energy source for power tools in 2003 on the Cordless Screwdriver Ixo from Bosch, more than three million of which have been sold so far. Now the developers at Bosch have designed a grass and shrub shear for gardening enthusiasts which is just as easy to operate and whose design, ergonomics and practical benefits are equally impressive. Bosch supplies the Isio at retail outlets since Spring 2007 in several different versions: as a grass shear, as a shrub shear, as a grass/shrub shear set and as a grass shear with telescopic handle and wheels. The tool always comes complete with a battery charger. Bosch supplies all versions in a very attractive packaging, which also makes the tool an ideal gift.
World's first lawnmower with lithium-ion battery A beautiful lawn is like a calling card. The lawn requires suitable care for it to flourish. It absolutely has to be cut weekly. The lawn reacts best when no more than approximately a third to a half of the grass length is cut off when mowing. Afterwards, the blades of grass should still be four to five centimeters long. Anybody who wants to follow these recommendations, which are provided by professional gardening experts, needs a powerful lawnmower that is always ready for use. After all, mowing is supposed to be enjoyable and it should produce good results quickly.
The transparent perspex cover makes the already shapely Rotak LI to an eye-catcher. Moreover, the cordless mowers have grass combs, which guide grass growing close to the edge into the cutting mechanism, thus making it unnecessary to trim these areas separately. All of this means that mowing with a Rotak LI is easy and fast. Now nothing can stand in the way of the pure enjoyment provided by a perfectly neat lawn.
Bosch has created an ideal solution for this: the new Rotak LI cordless mowers, the world's first lawnmowers with lithiumion battery. These innovative tools offer many advantages compared to established lawnmowers whether they be petrolpowered, electric or classical cordless mowers. For example, due to the more lightweight LI batteries, the cordless mowers from Bosch weigh approximately 40 percent less than the established cordless mowers with lead gel battery. With their total weight of about 14 kilograms the Rotak LI mowers are easy to handle. At the same time, these powerful and sleek mowers spare gardening enthusiasts both the unhandy cable of an electric mower, and the awkward starting and the exhaust gases of a petrol-powered mower. Unlike conventional batteries, the LI batteries have hardly any self-discharge and are always ready for use when you need them.

Three garden tools in one The new Cordless Shrub and Grass Shear Set ASB 10,8V LI from Bosch offers three ideal garden tools in one. If you combine the cordless shear with the blades included in the set – a grass shear blade, a shape cutting blade and a shrub shear blade – it is possible to perform different applications. The ten-centimeterwide grass shear blade enables gardening enthusiasts to put the edges and corners of their lawn into shape. The twelve-centimeter-long blade for shape cutting is ideal for sculpting figures. The 20-centimeter-long shrub shear blade enables powerful trimming of all types of shrubs and bushes. Whichever application it is used for, this compact, ergonomic tool with a weight of only 900 grams is very easy to guide with one hand. In addition, the small grip circumference, comfortable softgrip and balanced weight distribution make work easy. Bosch has developed a new SDS system for easy, tool-free blade changes. All you have to do is gently press a button to release the blade and replace it with another one. It is also possible to combine the grass shear with the telescopic handle from the Bosch range of accessories, which makes the set an absolute allrounder. The 10.8V lithium-ion battery provides the shrub and grass shear with high power. Even larger shrubs and bushes are quickly and cleanly cut into shape with the laser cut, precision ground blades. A special feature of the new Bosch shrub shears is the “Anti-Blocking” System, which ensures uninterrupted cutting, even of thicker branches. The electronics of the shear detect if the blades cannot cut through the branches straight away. If this happens, the running direction of the blade is automatically adjusted, so that the shear does not stall. These advantages make the ASB 10,8 LI the most powerful shrub shear on the market. Bosch supplies the ASB 10,8 LI in a robust carry box. This offers compact storage for the cordless shear and the three blades, and also provides the best protection against weather effects. With these tools, available from February 2010 onwards, Bosch will complete its range in the hedgecutter and shrub shear segment. The Isio, 1.5 million of which have already been sold, is ideal for taking care of small box trees. The ASB 10,8 LI makes it easier to take care of stronger and larger shrubs and bushes. The five Cordless Hedgecutters AHS 54-20 LI, AHS 48/52 LI and AHS 41/52 Accu are available for all larger hedges. In addition to this, Bosch offers a wide range of corded hedgecutters.
The long runtime of about 100 minutes provided by the 10.8V-LI battery in the shrub and grass shear is a particularly convenient feature when working on larger shrubs. A four-stage LED light displays the charging state of the battery. The user therefore always knows how much longer he or she can work with the tool. When the battery is flat, it takes only three hours to completely recharge it. 50 percent of the full charge is available again after only 1.5 hours of charging. The battery also has all of the known advantages of Bosch lithium-ion technology.
