TOTAL PHYSICAL FITNESS CENTER STUDIO 2.0, KATHMANDU | 2021
Established in 2001, Total Physical Fitness Center (TPFC) has been in the physical fraternity for over two decades. TPFC supports training, with both exper se and equipment, in areas such as bodybuilding/sculp ng, weight-loss cardio, body weight cardio, combat training, circuit training and aerobics. To meet the growing demand, and vision to build fitness as a way of life, TPFC team started to build a new training space in 2020. We used a detailed BIM model from the begining to explore design possibili es. We took inspira on from industrial crossfit box aesthe cs and developed an open gym concept focused on minimum use of walls. Primary construc on materials included concrete, steel and glass. Detailed drawings and diagrams were designed to clearly understand the efficiency of the concept and eventually communicated to the clients for execu on.

The second floor interior wall along the front facade was painted with a graffi styled block le ers with the name of the gym for signage. Gym members can see the signage from the street through the facade. We first designed the murals and created drawings following the same principles used for the construc on process for the ar st to follow.

STREET TACO STUDIO 2.0, KATHMANDU, NEPAL | 2019
Located in the busy streets of Kathmandu, the goal of the project was to capture the street culture and integrate it into the restaurant. The brand was designed on the basis of client’s desire to serve quality tacos at affordable price. In considera on of Mexican heritage and street art of Kathmandu, the interior of the restaurant was designed using murals as well as collages. The name ‘Street Taco’ was chosen to reflect this essence of street vendors and tradi onal culture. The design framework for the restaurant was set up to be used as franchise in the future. The design helped the client materialize his vision and most importantly added value - to his business and Nepali food industry as a whole. Vicinity map

ARUN COMPLEX STUDIO 2.0, NEPALGUNJ, NEPAL | 2019
Arun Complex is a repurposed mixed use commercial building in Nepalgunj, Nepal. We were invited to design the interior spaces for this project by the client. The project was being developed using fast track delivery method in two phases. Phase I was a clothing store on the second floor, phase II was a restaurant and bar on the third floor. For the retail space, we took a minimalist approach to produce airy layout with simple and cozy appeal. This was cri cal element in our design as we wanted to allow the customers to move easily between different clothing sec ons. In addi on, we selected a neutral color scheme to maintain the utmost focus on the apparel on display.

DESIGN TOOLS
We started off with crea ng a detailed BIM model to explore different design op ons and come up with the ideal design solu on. To create a welcoming family restaurant, we wanted to bring in the outdoor picnic experience within the comfort of fine dining, while the customers could enjoy the local delicacies. We designed green walls around the sea ng areas in a well lit and temperature maintained space, as the site was located in a hot and humid region. ISOMETRIC VIEW: Detailed BIM Model

DYNAMIC PER҃SISTERS LOUISIANA UNIVERSITIES MARINE CONSORTIUM, CHAUVIN, LA | 2017
The coast of Louisiana is a working coast. The environment of coastal Louisiana includes both natural landscape and man-made infrastructure. These site elements are part of a dynamic environmental ecosystem. This system is rapidly changing - from con nued deteriora on of the coastal wetlands, to the rising sea level. Instead of figh ng the change, adap ng to this changing environment would help find a balance between the environment and its inhabitants. Collage and colladle (a hybrid of collage and model) was constructed to further understand and create the rela onship between the environment and its inhabitants.

The extension of LUMCON will act very similar to Phill (the saltwater filtering creature). It will filter the research informa on into the database. As Le Corbusier famously said “the house is a machine we live in”, the new LUMCON will be the machine for research. This moving architectural machine will collect, filter/analyze and store informa on on the field of research and will have enough lab and residen al spaces for 12 scien sts to work and live.

Moreover, few of the research laboratories, researcher’s offices and residen al spaces will designed into a movable modular units. These units can be transfered to the new mobile extension during field research. When these movable modular research units and the residen al units (of researchers) are transfered to the new extension, the vacuum of space in the exis ng building will be used as mul -func onal informa on spaces and residen al spaces for public use. This exchange maintains the efficiency of the building occupancy.

WORK + PLAY + INTERACT OFFICE SPECULATIVE BUILDING, NEW ORLEANS, LA | 2016
The major goal of this project is to design office spaces with a public plaza on the site. This approach enhances the exis ng poten al of the site for more social interac ons and is reinforced by the exterior balconies that are inspired by the balconies in Bourbon Street. The exterior walls of the balcony also serves as a ver cal garden to the people on the opposite side of the building. The Piazza d’Italia, a historic landmark of New Orleans, integrated in the design serves as a focal point of all the social spaces in the site.

WABASH ARTS CENTER ARTS CENTER, CHICAGO, IL | 2015
Wabash Arts Corridor lies hidden within the grid of Chicago. The objec ve of this project is to highlight the Wabash Arts Center - the jewel of this corridor. Wabash Arts Center will be a hub for public art and engagement. It will encourage people to interact with each other and with arts by being a social interac on space for local people and an informa on center for the tourists. Most people do not realize that there is an arts corridor on S Wabash Street. So, it is important that people realize that WAC is a living urban canvas of Chicago. The main circula on of the building itself acts as corridor that cuts the building. This main corridor will ac vely interact with the main programs of the building.

In the research from 1951 tled “The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis”, Alan Turing analyzed the pa er-forming processes in the nature. These processes were a result of two different chemicals reac ng with each other with different diffusion rates crea ng zebra stripes. Inspired by this phenomenon, the dual nature of human and computer spaces is projected inside this building using the reac on diffusion equa on. Th equa on was also used to generate the facade of the building, camouflaging itself with the rocky desert surroundings.

NIRVANA MIXED USE BUILDING, LAFAYETTE, LA | 2012
Nirvana is a state of freedom from any human desires or sufferings caused by desire. The design has followed the so formed path of dematerializa on. The openness created by the facade followed by the closeness created by the wall behind the building signifies the duality of the design. The gradual changes in the materials and the openness in the wall conveys the idea of nirvana through it.
