ORIENTAL INTERIORS By Rakel Pariente It is true that now a day the oriental influence strike hard on occidental society, an example of this is how the interior designs tendencies are becoming into an oriental style. If you are thinking in decorating a space with an oriental style, you can find some tips here.
The oriental style is exotic, balance and must transmit a peace atmosphere. Shapes and materials give us the exoticism we are looking for, we never forget to use it in balance and coherent way. Neutral tones such as white or beige give us a peace atmosphere. We can combine those tones with black (which stylizes spaces) or red (which gives force). A coherent combination of all the elements gives us a balance. This balance should be base on the Ying Yang Theory. It is not difficult to find contrast on oriental style, but always with a balance in it.
Another important thing is the point of view. The visual angle should be as clearer as it can. This means that the oriental style tends to be minimalist, and the elements should be simples. Referring to material using on this style, bamboo; cedar wood; stone; rice wallpaper; wicker and silk, all this materials are related directly with the nature, and appear on the space as much similar as they are on the nature.
The contrast in an oriental style uses opposite concept in a balance way, for example, a combination between aged wood & lacquered finished; the tact of the silk with the force of the wicker; the stone with the rice wallpaper.
The furniture shouldn’t be high, low and horizontal furniture must be present on the space.
Characteristics: ‐ Organization and simplicity, only a few accessories in the space. ‐ Light, low and horizontal furniture. ‐ Naturalness on the spaces. ‐ The light should be natural as much as possible, if not the light should be white.
