GROUND FLOOR PLAN

FIRST FLOOR PLAN

The aim was to explore the design of buildings addressing the socio – cultural & economic needs of contemporary urban society. A passive building with an organic planning and structure, where the building gets adapted with the surroundings. The shape and organisation of the buildings is in such a way that the moving wind gets trapped inside and cools the building by itself.

Zamin Puravipaalayam is rich in both architecture and cultural heritage. The village is home to a large number of communities belong to various religions. Athough signs of early urban development is seen in the buildings. The uniqueness of the village still remains and is vissualy vissible in the typical village houses. A vast veriety in houses such as kaccha, semi-pucca, pucca can be seen, the place remains the same in aesthetics and mass since 1840.

Due to the unavailability of a proper building, milk booth is not functioning properly here at Zamin Puravipalayam. Thus the vendors of the village have to go to another village called Nadupuni which is 5km away from the village, so i had given a proposal of milk booth. The proposal is a cost effective design which can be easily constructed with the help of the labours here in the village itself. cost effective techniques like Filler slab, Rat trap bond walls and Jali works are used in the building. The roof of the building here represent a snail shell in golden proportion that gives a pleasent view for the building.

The growth pattern of the village is purely based up on the zamindar palace, so a centralized growth pattern is seen here in this village. Farm lands , paddy fields and coconut plantations are locacated in and around the village.

THE MOVING BUILDING.... Dynamic Architecture is an important step ahead towards the architecture of the Future. architecture should be an output of logic and that buildings should be a result of technology and ecology. Every one likes changes around them, children too likes it. The changes in their chi surrounding makes them happy and attracts them more.

FIRST FLOOR PLAN

A school building should not just attract students it should make them stay inside. The rotation of the building causes change in environment and view from inside , This gives a new surrounding for the user everytime.

WHEN CUBES BECOME SPACES.... Cubes are one of the stable form in 3D shapes. It also have the basic physical properties which provides pleasentness in vision and thus is here used as the concept

SEMESTER - 2

The aim of the design was to provide a living come oďŹƒce space for an artist under practice. So the combination of formal and informal spaces and their zoning was the challenging part of the design.

The idea was to play with cubes by interlocking them and by placing them one above the other. Its the addition and subtraction of cubes that bought up the form for the design.

PHOTOGRAPHY & MODEL MAKING

PHOTOGRAPHY... Rather than just a HOBBY Photography is a WAY OF LIFE. I felt its not just how we hold a camera and snap a pic, Its the way we see life and everything around us that gets reected in the frame. I love Photography, I always did and i always will.

MODEL MAKING... Well before being a part of architecture the art of model making took over my attention. I should say this made a lead to my path of architecture.
