RAKSHIT PAHUJA Hi! I’m a 6th semester architecture student at Chandigarh College of Architecture, seeking the posion of an intern architect. My passion for architecture iniated from my curiosity and constant demand for logic. I hope to connue navigang through various new avenues of design, all the while constantly learning through my experiences. The following is the compilaon of projects that reflect my ideas, passion and appreciaon for architecture. I hope to contribute the same to your firm.

studio apartment Academic / Private / Single living unit / Nature responsive / Relaxative

AutoCad / Rhinoceros / V-ray / Photoshop / Illustrator

Site - Tome, Chile Area - 80 sq. m

This living unit is designed for a corporate worker with a 9 to 5 job, a person living alone with not much me to interact and socialise. Therefore, the apartment and the surroundings itself interact with owner. In this house, you know where you are and yet understand you are part of a whole; the apartment, the surroundings and the nature. Closer to any natural thing, in its ambiguous scale, this small building is more than a hut but less than a house: it is a coage. As an opaque block, a monolithic object heavily anchored at the edge of a cliff, it is facing Pacific Ocean. The building could be read as a structure that runs perpendicular to the natural topography. The apartment is divided into 4 levels with specific funcons which descend towards the sea.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Wondering why we used to make the same type of house as a child, I based my concept off of that psychology. Research shows it is directly related to the environment the child is living in. The more open and green a space is drawn, the happier the child’s living environment is.

Experiments were carried out on school children where they were asked to draw a house. It resulted in different surroundings and design elements in the drawings. Differences concluded that higher the number of windows in the house, more posive and less depressed a child’s living environment was and vice versa.

Hence, the concept for the studio apartment is derived from this concept. Using this knowledge for a more evolved person and what he/she needs to stay happy and self-sufficient, the apartment is located amidst nature a lile away from the hustle bustle, which allows the person to introspect. The apartment, surroundings and nature interact with the person by intangible means. Posive response Negave response

MNC OFFICE For world wildlife fund Academic / Public space / Organic / Responsive / Contextual / For a cause

AutoCad / Rhinoceros / V-ray / Photoshop / Illustrator

Site - Ernakulum, Kochi, Kerala Area - 1600 sq. m

The office is designed for World Wildlife Fund which is a non government organisaon of wildlife conservaon and endangered species, located alongside a bird sanctuary in Kerala. This area of Kochi lying along the Arabian Sea is an upcoming industrial hub. The design of the office is in sync with the ideologies and influences of the company. Organic yet funconal by all means, the structure interacts with the context, nature and the people working inside.

“Every place is given its character by certain paerns of events that keep on happening there. The more living paerns there are in a place the more it comes to life as an enrety, the more it has that self-maintaining fire which is the quality without a name. And when a building has this fire, then it becomes a part of nature.Like ocean waves, or blades of grass, its parts are governed by the endless play of repeon and variety created in the presence of the fact that all things pass. This is the quality itself.” - Christopher Alexander

Kochi, Kerala being a coastal city has a wet and humid climate which is addressed by various passive strategies used in the building. A mural wall has been provided to stop the scorching heat and sunlight from sun in the north west direcon. It also symbolises the logo of the company.

Protruding columns from the roof along with abstract steel bars connecng them act as areas for the migratory birds to perch and rest.

Site Plan The site being in the only green patch le in the industrial hub, acts as a green lung for Kochi and serves as a resng place for migratory bird species. Due to construcon of high rise buildings, the influx of the migratory birds is hindered. Due to this reason the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary is losing its identy and so is the place. Therefore, the office is doing its part by interacng with the context and its surroundings and preserving the identy. pgpg 12/13 6/7 8/9

The brief of the summer school intended to make prototype of a working digital facade system on 1:1 scale with responsive and adapve shape shiing structures. The workshop included computaonal design, programming and digital fabricaon.

Dynamic facades have the potenal to add to the architectural expression of a building by visualizing the changeable aspects of the environment. Since the building envelope , or facade, is in essence the public face of a building, and has therefore a large impact on the percepon of the building, thus from an energec perspecve, a shape shiing envelope acts as an even more opmized buffer or mediator between the interior and the exterior environment.

This site was selected as construcon, culture and feelings of people for their houses were interconnected. As these vernacular houses were being destroyed by the Central Government to construct a large corridor for tourism, we wanted to preserve the unique construcon techniques and fill the gap of knowledge in case these houses were to be destroyed undocumented.

Our CONCEPT is based on empathy, senses and simplicity. Our main aim is to add features which interact with the environment so that users can explore the built environment, people and culture of a particular place with the best sense of belonging. Relating our app to the human experiencies and behavious, we added sense features like sight and sound which responds to the built environment and help people to feel what a place will be like through our app. It indulges with the environment and lives with it. Always. Interface Design is interactive and clear for hassle free use.

These features we provided therefore help connect with the built environment, people and culture in a better way. We as architects, capturing the world with creative lens have the ability to share our user experiences in a more meaningful and experiential way which may boost better sense of feeling amongst the individuals for the place they’re at. Therefore this app provides exploration of real life through digital technology.
