s the first and largest Muslim fashion retail brand in Indonesia, Shafira, pioneered by Feny Mustafa in 1989 has established measures to align themselves with other international brands. Through the utilisation of modern management as well as its simply elegant Muslim fashion design and taste, Shafira is trying to cater to the global market. With a vision to make Indonesia as the World’s Muslim fashion qibla in the year 2020, Shafira has started its journey in the year 2008 by provoking the fashion i n d u s t r y a n d g o v e r n m e n t . T o m a k e i t s d r e a m a r e a l i t y, S h a f i r a alongside the fashion community and the media has signed the Declaration of Indonesia as a World’s Fashion Muslim Qibla 2020 during the annual event Lebaran Bersama Shafira in 2009. T o r e a l i s e t h i s d r e a m, t h e In d o n e s i a n I s l a m i c F a s h i o n C o n s o r t i u m ( IIF C) w a s s t a r t e d i n 2 0 1 0 a s a f o r u m f o r the realisation of Indonesia as a World’s Muslim Fashion Qibla in 2020. The support of the various stakeholders of the fashion industry and the government (represented by the Ministry of Industry) has been greatly appreciated in t h e c r e a t i o n o f t h i s f o r u m.

h e c o n c e p t o f “B e y o n d B o r d e r s” d e e p l y e c h o e s i n t h e halls of Shafira in the year 2011, not only as a form of enlightenment, but also to prove that Shafira will go i n t e r n a t i o n a l. A s a f a s h i o n r e t a i l b r a n d t h a t c a n r e p r e s e n t Indonesia through creative hands that is realised in an industrial scale with a process that complies with the international quality standards. Shafira wants to give the chance for the fashion industry to optimise the potential of Indonesian handcraftsmanship and apply it into fashion collections that is comparable with other world-class fashion products. Through the marriage of cultural wisdom and m o d e r n i s a t i o n, S h a f i r a i s t r y i n g t o s h o w t h a t In d o n e s i a n products can stand on its own in the global market and c a p t u r e t h e h e a r t s o f p e o p l e a l l o v e r t h e w o r l d. Participating in Jakarta Fashion Week, I n d o n e s i a’ s largest fashion week that is trying to set Indonesia as A s i a’ s f a s h i o n c e n t r e i s a s t e p t o p r o m o t e S h a f i r a t o b o t h local and international fashion lovers and journalists. In the year 2012, Shafira will launch Shafira Around the World as an international Muslim Fashion retail b r a n d. I t s f i r s t s t e p i s a n i n v a s i o n o f f a s h i o n t o E u r o p e.
