The aim of this project is to propose a sensitive solution for the regeneration of urban park in Sofia, Bulgaria. The context sensitive design is incorporates architectural and landscape qualities to regenerate the existing public spaces and propose new urban centrality. Situated on one of the main green connection from the city to mountain Vitosha, the site is an urban void surrounded by dense city centre fabric, which makes it adequate for urban scale transformation with nature held in high regard. By looking into the history of the site and exploring the design through the perspective of time the project establishes a new city to nature connection, repatches the discontinuous city fabric and reestablishes the morphological and temporal coherency. The result is a liminal space: a sensory threshold in time and an intermediate space between city and nature.

CROSS THE LIMIT

The introduction of new element aims to between city and nature, creating NEW DECUMANO. Following the example of continuing the CARDO in the preceding URBAN STRATEGY, choate NEW URBAN CENTRALITY EMERGES. The element aims to unify the dimensions, both Connecting buildings from three main periods: monarch monarchy, socialism and democracy by giving them a common meaning. The act of FRAGMENTATION symbolises the history of the place and identifies its ARCHITECTURAL & CULTURAL INTENSITY.

The projects aims to overcome the limit imposed by the two highways in Seville and overwrite the arisen void. The strategy is to connect through the void formed by the two infrastructures, thus creating a new urban agglomeration Seville - Tomares. The link, moreover, transforms the void itself, turning it into an agricultural land. The former gray lands that were often flooded are now turned into flourishing aggricultural lands thanks to the complex channel system that is esteblished and serves as both irrigation system and as flood protection system. Also the once underused street is transformed to a multifunctional sequence of spaces that incorporates public uses, green areas and water channels. The channels are the solution to the adjoining previous gray land and are utilised as a flood prevention solution. 09

SANT ADRIĂ€ DE BESĂ’S FACTORY The area is favoraubly situated north-east of the El Besòs river, that also parts it from Barcelona. The river could be translated as a mirror axis for the urban development and further growth of the system, that interconnects a chain of nodes (abandoned and underused public spaces). In all cases the main branch of the network runs from the hilly terrain to the coastline. The publuc spaces constutite of parks, open spaces and also public buildings.

Masterplan

The factory site functions as a funnel,. threshold space that could very well bolster the fundamental concept of the urban redeveloplent and impement it on a larger area, intensifying the relations to the surrounding edges of the urban tissue and boosting the city life within it and overall Badalona and Barcelona.. 15

RE-formare MILANO

The project transforms the old slaughter house in east Milan into a vibrant urban hub, including social housing, library, gallery, concert hall and a fab lab. The functions incorporated are various and mixed, boosting the city-life and contributing to the socio-economic and environmental sustainability and prosperity of the formal slaughterhouse area. The site location is strategic and it can be used to complete the green network in this part of the city. The approach is based on the site as a part of that system, respectively the slow mobility system, since both are invariably related. The mixed use and that fact that on site is designed a new park, boosts overall the east part of Milano and are a preposition for the expansion of the north-to-south slow mobility system. The social housing incorporates a pedestrian bridge and a farmers market underneath. The products grown on the agricultural part of the park by the social housing residents are distributed on the market, thus completing the sustainability and social integration cycle.

Building Knowledge Hub: nZEB The project is for the establishment of Building Knowledge Hubs (BKH) on nearly zero-energy buildings in Sofia, Bulgaria. The hubs are aimed to become educational centres that facilitate the implementation of energy efficient construction in Bulgaria. The Hub is strategically situated in the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, expediting the spread of knowledge and kno know-how on nZEB. The initiative is also used to create a new, flexible learning space for the students that boosts creativity, knowledge-sharing and networking. The BKH is part of network of five hubs spread throughout Europe (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine). They are created as part of the Train-to-nZEB project. The project itself has received funding under Horizon 2020 programme of the EU.

Models in scale 1:1 For the project of creating a Building Knowledge Hub on nZEB details that represent the different types of construction are developed in a scale 1:1. All of these details are actual building size and demonstrate the nearly zero-energy building construction principles. The aim is to be able to exhibit them crearly through the models. There are few maquettes: some representing the massive construction type: loadbearing structure of reinforced concrete and bricks. Others represent wooden type of construction with insulation between the loadbearing wooden columns and beams.

Create your own space: the kindergarten Kindergarten project in the Danish city of Brande. The one-story kindergarten is intended for 84 chidren age 3-5. The spaces are open and the whole volume is distributed into two parts, that are separated by the services in the middle. The idea is to give the chidren posibility to explore and create the space themselves. The architecture is used as a tool to create feeling of indepencance, freedom and serenity and promote openness and infinity of the imagination. The building is calculated to be Low-energy class (class 2015) acc. to the building regulations. The materials used are natural and selected to increase the indoor comfort of the children and stimulate the creativity and process of learning.

24

attention to the detail The project is designed up to the final detail phas., Drawings are prepared for the different construction phases and spacialities. Teder documentation, cost estimations and project construction time schedule are also prepared. Llife-cycle estimations and energy certificate calculations are also thoroughly presented and included in the project with consideration of the operation and mantainance of the kindergarten in the future.

IN BETWEEN

NATURE The project is an exemplary project of social housing, manifesting the idea of nature and greenability within the building. It aims to underline the crucial influence of architecture on the socio-economic life and healthy living environment.

Low-energy social housing renovation on the city of Vejle, Denmark. The building is built in 1968 and consists of 50 apartments + basement. The refurbishment is conducted simultaneously in all the building and the existing apartments are rearranged and usable floor area is expanded. This is done via the inclusion of the existing balconies. New balconies are erected on site. For the construction are used steel frames, since they are light and easy to install. The project utilises and explores the fabrication and construction of steel balconies and demonstrates the stages on the construction of these balconies. All of the drawings necessary for the steel-works are competed, together with the case and work specifications for them. Details, element drawings and thorough 3D step-by-step visualisations are explored in depth into the construction of steel balconies and their application in the renovation projects.
