oseph Kchodl aka PaleoJoe uses special tools and a gentle and steady hand to clean rib bone pieces of an ancient triceratops. The paleontologist, speaker and author was at Historic Charlton Park this week, helping to set up a new exhibit on old dinosaurs. Next week, during spring vacation for many area schools, Charlton Park will be open for individuals and families to stop in and see what PaleoJoe has dug up. Kchodl will return later this month and again in May and June to demonstrate bone cleaning. A triceratops skull (inset) is surrounded by other skull shapes of ceratopsians, a Greek word for meaning “horned face.” To learn more about PaleoJoe, the dinosaur exhibit opening at Charlton Park Monday, April 7, and related events, look inside this week’s Reminder.
