Harper Creek Community Schools Welcomes Kindergarten and Ready Start Students for 2013-14 Harper Creek Community Schools is accepting registration for our full-day Kindergarten and Ready Start program. Parents of children who will be five years old by November 1, 2013 are invited to stop by one of our three elementary schools to pick up a kindergarten registration packet. City of Battle Creek residents have spring and fall cleanups for the disposal of construction debris available to them as part of their normal garbage service. Waste Management will conduct the spring event the week of May 6th through May 10th, 2013. Please have items at the curb prior to 6:00 A.M. on your regular garbage collection day. Each residence can place up to 10 cubic yards of home renovation or building materials out for pickup during the spring cleanup. Materials must be in containers, each weighing less than 50 pounds, or be securely bundled and tied but not over 4 feet long or 50 pounds. Please do not include these items that are not accepted as part of any curbside collection. • Large car parts, tires or batteries • Sharp or jagged edged items • Railroad ties or treated lumber • Stumps or branches over 2 inches in diameter • Sod, rocks, bricks, dirt or concrete • Hazardous materials Also this year, Calhoun County will conduct household hazardous waste collections on April 27th at Kellogg Community College and September 21st at the Toeller Building in Battle Creek.
