My name is Karen Grosteffon and I have been in business in the Battle Creek and surrounding areas since 1987. Many of you may recognize me as being owner of Karen’s Keepsake’s and Karen’s School House Antiques. For the past 30 years I have had many successful estate sales big and small. I have obtained a vast knowledge of the value of antiques as an antique appraiser. With this knowledge I have helped many families understand how a successful estate sale should run. I am beginning a new adventure at a new location. This new location will be having estate sales, specializing in large quantities of household items, antique, collectible, and Fenton Cranberry glass. My new location is at 205 Highland Ave. in Battle Creek behind Duncan’s Hair Salon, across the street from Planet Fitness and Volcano Pizza, just up the hill from Goguac Lake public access. This space will be organized for you to purchase clean, functional items. I believe by opening this new location, it will allow me to better serve my clients with their own estate sale by moving everything to a location without worrying about the condition of their home. It will also provide a great opportunity for me to combine many small household estate sales into one big clean organized sale. Look for my ads in the Battle Creek Shopper News, they are always hi-lighted in yellow, as well as on my website at www.estatesalesbykaren.com for the dates and times of each sale. My staff and I encourage you to stop in and get on the mailing list at one of my upcoming sales so you can be QRWL¿HG RI WKH XSFRPLQJ VDOHV DQG IHDWXUHG LWHPV 7KLV location will not be open on a daily basis. It will be open on sale days only. I look forward to being able to continue serving Battle Creek and surrounding areas in this great new location.
Please feel free to contact me about dates, times, or maybe even your next estate sale at

Burnham Brook is now The Kool Family Community Center!
Dear Friends and Neighbors, Twenty years ago, the Burnham Brook Community Center was created as the west end gateway anchor to downtown Battle Creek. Led by former mayor, businessperson and long-time civic leader Preston Kool, a dedicated group of community volunteers recognized a need in our community and set out to address it. The community envisioned a place where people could meet, enjoy activities and pursue an active, healthy lifestyle. From this vision, the Community Center was born. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Battle Creek Community Foundation since 2008, the Battle Creek Community Foundation proudly renamed the facility to The Kool Family Community Center. This renaming signaled the continued evolution of the west end anchor gateway community. At the Kool Center, we’ve set out to show examples of the impact a community can make when people come together. As a part of the 20th Anniversary, much work has been done to transform The Kool Family Community Center and the surrounding area. Due to the generous financial support of Battle Creek resident Norman Reister, a lobby mural has been created by local artist Xenia Rose. Additional donations and sponsorships have helped with the purchase and installation of new billiard tables and other modernizing improvements.
The Kool Family Community Center is led by an active, dedicated board of directors from across our community, including: Tim Kool, Chairperson
