Neighborhood Planning Councils (NPCs) are resident-based groups that serve an important and specific purpose in our community. The purpose of Neighborhood Planning Councils is to provide a forum to inform and discuss with neighborhood residents and representatives of the City staff and City Commissioners, issues and concerns of that neighborhood. Generally, the City informs the NPC of facts and potential results of pending decisions, opportunities or other changes. The NPC discusses and decides what, if any, recommendations it would like to make or strategies they would like to develop.

SUMMER 2014 NEWSLETTER TOWNSHIP ROADS: The next Public Forum Meeting on Road Repairs is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 6:00pm at the Pennfield High School Auditorium. The first meeting on April 23rd was attended by well over 200 people. At this meeting, the Township will be presenting 2 or 3 different options as it relates to a possible road repair millage request on the November ballot. The Township will also be looking at “bonding” the project through Calhoun County which would allow us to borrow the entire amount up front with a plan to have all our local and primary roads repaired within 3 years beginning in the summer of 2015. PEDDLERS, TRANSIENT MERCHANTS AND SOLICITORS ORDINANCE: Soliciting door to door is prohibited unless legally registered by Pennfield Township. If someone comes to your door to peddle or solicit, they must have proper identification along with an official certificate from Pennfield Township. If they do not, please immediately notify either the Pennfield Township Office or call the Sheriff’s Department at 911. The only exemptions to this ordinance are political candidates, religious groups and groups representing the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or Pennfield sponsored groups or athletic teams. VETERANS EXEMPTIONS: If you are a disabled veteran with a service-connected disability of at least 60%, receiving 100% disability payments, considered 100% permanently and totally disabled or 100% unemployable through the Veteran’s Administration, you may be eligible for a tax exemption on your property taxes. Please contact Township Treasurer Barb Phillips at (269) 968-8549 for additional information. SCRAP TIRE RECYCLING DAY IN PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP: There will a free scrap tire recycling day on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 9:00am to 12:00pm behind the Township Office. NO RIMS. Please contact Township Supervisor Rob Behnke at (269) 968-8549 for more information. VOTER ABSENTEE BALLOTS: Pennfield Township now provides a permanent absentee voter list which enables you to receive an application for every election. Please contact Township Clerk Kathy Case at (269) 968-8549 for more information. PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP WEBSITE: Please be sure to check out our website at www.pennfieldtwp.com for a “mountain of information” involving board meeting dates, individual property information, board meeting minutes (includes meetings of the Township Board, the Township Planning Commission and the Township Zoning Board of Appeals since 2007), GIS mapping, monthly recycling program, Township ordinances and related forms. Our website is the only local governmental website that includes copies of our monthly budget reports (General Fund, Permits, Water, Sewer and Metro Fund), the monthly Treasurer’s Report, a listing of the monthly bills approved for payment by the Township Board as well as a listing of Township Board approved wages (salaries and hourly rates) for all Township employees for FY 2014-15. Did you know that you can pay your monthly water/sewer bills online at our website? Or your property taxes? Click on the ONLINE PAYMENT box located on the left side of the Township website to check it out (a small fee does apply). BREAKFAST ON THE FARM:
