Guru Smt. Gayatri Mahadevan Smt Gayatri Mahadevan learnt bharathanatyam in Chennai at Abhinaya Natyalaya under the tutelage of Guru Kalaimamani Krishnakumari Narendran in the pandanallur style of dance. Guru Krishnakumari is renowned for her fierce nattuvangam and her multi-media dance dramas. The pandanallur style of bharathanatyam is characterized by intense but understated Abhinaya and geometrical adavu techniques. Pandanallur style gives a lot of importance to abinaya.
Gayatri has performed as part of Guru Krishnakumari's travelling dance troupe for several years in productions such as Navagraha Ula. ‘Navagraha Ula ', which is based on the nine planets was a pioneer in bharathanatyam dance productions where computerized animation and special effects was introduced to a great success. The mythological and factual details about each planet are depicted. Gayatri is a versatile and popular Bharathanatyam dancer here in Knoxville who is looked up to by many upcoming students who want to learn Bharathanatyam. She has been performing and providing a glimpse of her dance skills in various community events. She works full time as a Financial Analyst but is very passionate about dance and has been teaching bharathanatyam to a small set of students since 2015. Archana, will be Gayatri's first student trained to perform a Arangetram.
Guru Smt. Rathna Rao Smt. Curu Rathna Rao started her early training in Dance at Mysore at the tender age of 6 under the able guidance of Asthana Vidushi Smt. Sundaramma, who was a student of the famous Jattithayamma of Mysore. She has taught dance to the girls of Indian Community for over two decades in Knoxville establishing Nupura School of Dance.
Archana Ramesh Archana is a 14-year- old, and has been learning Bharathanatyam since the age of 5. She started her bharathanatyam journey under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Ratna Rao.
Archana had an inherent interest in Dance and Music which was visible at a very young age. As a young girl, she explored many venues of art, but bharathanatyam had captured her mind and soul. Journey towards Arangetram enhanced her personal growth and made an incredible strong connection to cultural roots and deepened her relation with the art. As a passionate young disciple of Guru Smt. Gayatri Mahadevan, her dance has evolved through rigorous training and practice undertaken in the last two years. Apart from dance art form, she has been learning Carnatic Vocal music from Dr. Shankar Srinivas and learnt to play Western musical chords in Flute through her band at Farragut Middle School. She has a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo, accredited by World Taekwondo Headquarters Kukkiwon, Korea. Archana has always been interested in academic success and cultivating her leadership skills. She has received many accolades for her academic excellence in school. She served as Student council president in Intermediate school and now has flourished on to become president of the Student Government Association in the upcoming freshman year. As an Honor Student and being member of National Junior Honor Society, she has been actively involved as a team player assisting her school in various volunteering activities. Under the exemplary tutelage and training from Guru Smt Gayatri Mahadevan, she aspires to expand her horizon in Bharathanatyam and exhibit her skills on stage at this important “Arangetram event with your best wishes and blessings.
