THE PROJECT AIMS TO LOOK BEYOND THE SPECIFIC TYPOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS OF A BUS STAND BY REPROGRAMMING ITS NORMATIVE USAGE THROUGH A MULTI LAYERED ACTIVITY HUB. THE EXISTING FUNCTIONS OF THE BUS STAND AND ITS PRECINCTS WERE STUDIED AND ANALYZED BOTH FROM QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE PERSPECTIVES, RANGING FROM TRANSPORT / TRANSIT SYSTEMS, PEDESTRIAN CIRCULATION, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, URBAN FABRIC ANALYSIS, ETC. TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS COULD SERVE AS A FOCAL POINT FOR MULTIFACETED AND MULTI PURPOSE ACTIVITIES IN AN ERA WHERE SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL RESOURCES ARE INVESTED IN THEM. THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE BEING, CREATING SPACE WHICH IS A SUBSET OF ACTIVITIES ON A LARGER SCALE AND ADDING VALUE TO THE MOBILITY OF THE USERS.

The parking system was used as the foundation for the design’s grid. Each parking place has dimensions of 2750 x 6000. The above standard width is intended to accommodate the upcoming trend of broader automobiles being put on the road. Eight parking spaces are contained in each grid of 11600 x 11800, and the neighbouring grid is 9400 mm to facilitate the easy passing of two vehicles.
Given that the design asks for lengthy alleyways, to reduce consumer dissatisfaction and prevent traffic congestion, a digital signage system depicting the number of available parking spots may be employed at intersections to alert drivers. Fig A.P.001_03 - Second Basement Plan 05

The bus shelters are curved steel structures with lightweight shingles. This allows the passengers to enter without being affected by adverse weather conditions.
The waiting areas are well-lit to maintain a sense of security within the passengers. The colour scheme decided for the bays are taken on to various elements in the space for easier identification.
The workshop provided as part of the system also comes along the route for easy access. The route is kept linear to reduce congestion and blocks. Fig A.P.001_04 - First Basement Plan 06

The bus enters the site through the Muncipal Office Road and exits through the Ring Road. The bus enter directly to the aligthing bays to drop of the passengers in case it needs to access the fuel station or the workshop. The road then leads the bus to the corresponding boarding / deboarding bays.
3. The third entry would be at the right wing from the alighting bays.
There are three entries for the users: 1. One is the main entrance at the right wing from the junction under the skywalk. This would be used by passengers of higher frequency and short distance routes. Fig A.P.001_05 - Ground Floor Plan 07
2. The other is through the left wing which provide direct access to the commercial and leisure spaces. The office block can also be directly accessed through this.

The upper floors in both wings functionins as office spaces and communal facilities such as halls, dormitories, and childcare centers (cheche). This integrated design optimizes the use of space, fostering a dynamic environment that accommodates both professional workspaces and community-oriented amenities.

The primary structure features a two-screen movie theatre and retail stores on the second floor, providing entertainment and shopping options for both bus passengers and the general public.

Upon exiting the theater, the usersare welcomed onto a dedicated floor that seamlessly integrates a vibrant food court and an inviting roof garden. This design encourages a smooth transition from entertainment to a relaxing dining and outdoor experience.

A green roof garden is provided above the food court. This space could accomodate various activities for the daily users, such as having meals, yoga, etc. Fig A.P.001_08 - Terrace Plan 10

To offer the greatest amount of seclusion from the buzzling station, the office tower has been occupied vertically. The red cascading structure of the facade offers protection from the sun and rain. The architecture uses the cascading structure to water the plants, which serve as a a buffer for noise.

Designed for optimal natural lighting, the roof structure in this wing floods the coworking spaces with indirect sunlight, creating a bright and inspiring atmosphere for enhanced productivity and well-being.

MY JOURNEY WITH THE FIRM BEGAN AS A SITE ARCHITECT FOR THE EXPANSIVE 16,000 SQM RESIDENTIAL PROJECT, TERRA HOUSE. NESTLED WITHIN THE SCENIC EXPANSE OF WAYANAD, THIS PROJECT ENCOMPASSES A VAST PLOT OF LAND FEATURING SIX VILLAS, A DORMITORY, AND ASSOCIATED SERVICE STRUCTURES. THE VILLA SHOWCASED HERE IS SITUATED ON THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE TERRAIN, SERVING ALSO AS AN IDYLLIC HOLIDAY RESIDENCE FOR THE CLIENT AND THEIR FAMILY. CRAFTED TO MEET THE CLIENT’S DESIRES, THE VILLA’S LAYOUT FOCUSES ON A SPACIOUS 3 BHK PLAN, DISTINCTLY SEPARATING PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SPACES. THE INTEGRATION OF THE PUBLIC ZONE WITH THE POOL AND KITCHEN ENABLES SEAMLESS EVENT HOSTING WITHOUT COMPROMISING PRIVACY. THIS THOUGHTFUL ARRANGEMENT BALANCES FUNCTIONALITY, FOSTERING A HARMONIOUS BLEND OF SOCIAL AND INTIMATE LIVING AMID WAYANAD’S STUNNING SURROUNDINGS.

III Unnamed Residence
THE OBJECTIVE WAS TO DEVELOP AN INTERIOR PROPOSAL FOR AN EXISTING RESIDENCE IN COIMBATORE. THE DESIGN CONCEPT EVOLVED THROUGH EXTENSIVE DISCUSSIONS AND CLIENT APPROVAL OF THE MOOD BOARD. THIS PROCESS INVOLVED CONTINUOUS COLLABORATION TO ENSURE ALIGNMENT WITH THE CLIENT’S VISION AND PREFERENCES, SHAPING A DESIGN THAT SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATES THEIR ASPIRATIONS WITH FUNCTIONAL AND AESTHETIC CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE SPACE.

Daughter’s Room : The client’s request involved the incorporation of a serene study area and a preference to conceal storage spaces, which have been discreetly integrated beneath the bed for a streamlined and uncluttered aesthetic.
Living Room : The entrance leads to a passage that culminates in a Buddha statue, fulfilling the client’s vision. The remaining space is dedicated to the living area, featuring a TV unit spanning the entire wall and complemented by a spacious sofa for a comfortable and inviting ambiance.

THE PROJECT INVOLVED MY ROLE AS A SITE ARCHITECT WORKING UNDER THE INTERIOR CONTRACTOR. CHALLENGES AROSE AS THE INITIAL DRAWINGS FROM THE ARCHITECTURE FIRM DID NOT ALIGN WITH SITE REQUIREMENTS OR MATERIALS. MY RESPONSIBILITY WAS TO THOROUGHLY STUDY THE DRAWINGS AND METICULOUSLY REVISE DETAILED PLANS FOR EDGE DETAILS, FALSE CEILINGS, LIGHTING, FURNITURE, DOORS, AND MORE, ENSURING CONFORMITY WITH SITE CONDITIONS. THIS TASK DEMANDED CONTINUOUS COLLABORATION WITH SUBCONTRACTORS, INCLUDING HVAC AND ELECTRICAL TEAMS, AS WELL AS CARPENTERS. THIS HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE PROVIDED INVALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO ON-SITE INTRICACIES, CONSTRUCTION DETAILING, AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS. ADHERING TO CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY, I AM UNABLE TO SHARE SITE IMAGES OR PLAN DRAWINGS.

JAN 2022 - JUN 2022 SIKKIM, GANGTOK PPA IS A DESIGN FIRM BASED IN GANGTOK FOCUSED ON DELIVERING THE HIGHEST QUALITY MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGN. THEIR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY IS ROOTED IN THE CONTEXT THEREFORE; ISSUES OF IDENTITY AND CULTURE GET AS MUCH ATTENTION AS ARCHITECTURE IN THE CONTEMPORARY CONTEXT. THEIR PROJECTS ARE VARIED IN SCALE RANGING FROM A 1.2KM STRETCH WALKWAY WITH ALLIED FACILITIES IN THE HEART OF THE TOWN TO SMALL RESIDENTIAL UNITS AND THE DESIGN OF INDIVIDUAL FURNITURE PIECES. THEY ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A NUMBER OF LARGE SCALE HOSPITALITY PROJECTS SINCE TOURISM IS THE MOST IMPORTANT INDUSTRY OF THE REGION. THE FOLLOWING HIGHLIGHTS FEW OF MY CONTRIBUTIONS AT PPA ( PRASHANT PRADHAN ARCHITECTS ) :

V Goswami Residence
THE CLIENTS AIMED TO MODERNIZE THEIR HOME FOR A GROWING FAMILY AND INCORPORATE NEW FEATURES, INCLUDING AN ELEVATOR FOR THEIR PARENTS. HOWEVER, COMPLICATIONS AROSE WITH MUNICIPAL APPROVAL, LEADING TO THE DEMOLITION OF THE ENTIRE EXISTING BUILDING. THE REMAINING TRIANGULAR PLOT REQUIRED VAASTU COMPLIANCE, INSPIRING A DESIGN APPROACH INFLUENCED BY CORBUSIER’S MILLOWNERS’ BUILDING. EMBRACING THE LARGER FACE OPENING TO A VAST WEST LAWN, THE WEST FACADE WAS REIMAGINED WITH A SERIES OF PARALLEL WALLS, ENSURING A THOUGHTFUL AND CONTEXT-SENSITIVE DESIGN.

THE DESIGN ENCOMPASSES A FOUR-FAMILY APARTMENT IN DELHI, WITH THE FIRST AND SECOND STORIES DEDICATED TO INDIVIDUAL UNITS. THE FOURTH AND HALF OF THE THIRD STORY FORM ONE UNIT, WHILE THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE THIRD STORY CONSTITUTES ANOTHER. DESPITE THE CONSTRAINTS OF A SMALL PLOT, THE DESIGN ADEPTLY ADDRESSES CLIENT INPUTS ON LAYOUT PREFERENCES, INCORPORATING DOUBLE-HEIGHT SPACES, SERVICE ACCESS CONSIDERATIONS, AND FRONT-FACING GLASS FACADES. THE RESULT IS A WELL-PARTITIONED SPACE, BALANCING PRIVATE AND PUBLIC AREAS WITH CAREFUL ATTENTION TO PROPER LIGHTING AND VENTILATION. THE DESIGN SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATES CHALLENGES, DEMONSTRATING EFFICIENT SPACE UTILIZATION AND A THOUGHTFUL APPROACH TO CREATING A HARMONIOUS LIVING ENVIRONMENT WITHIN LIMITED SPACE CONSTRAINTS.

DAYS INN WYNDHAM IS A DISTINGUISHED 4-STAR HOTEL NESTLED IN THE PICTURESQUE GANGTOK, OFFERING BREATHTAKING MOUNTAIN VIEWS. THE HOTEL BOASTS 43 LUXURIOUS SUITES AND OTHER ALLIED AMENITIES. MY INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROJECT COMMENCED POST-CONSTRUCTION, WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON THE RESTAURANT AND BAR SPACES. WITHIN THIS SCOPE, MY MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED CREATING RCP DRAWINGS AND CONCEPTUALIZING THE DESIGN FOR THE BAR AREA. THIS UNDERTAKING DEMANDED A METICULOUS APPROACH, ENSURING A SEAMLESS BLEND OF FUNCTIONALITY, AESTHETICS, AND ADHERENCE TO THE HOTEL’S OVERALL AMBIANCE. THROUGH THOUGHTFUL DESIGN AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL, THE RESTAURANT AND BAR AREAS WERE TAILORED TO ENHANCE THE OVERALL GUEST EXPERIENCE, CONTRIBUTING TO THE HOTEL’S REPUTATION FOR LUXURY AND SOPHISTICATION.
