Mitsubishi recalls 2012 i-MiEV for airbag issues Mitsubishi is issuing a small-scale recall of a few of its 2012 electric vehicles. The side impact and curtain airbags are affected by the recall. There will only be 49 of the EVs targeted. AutoGuide explained that all the recalled vehicles are in Canada currently. It is anticipated that the U.S. will be affected soon. Looking at software compatibility The Safety Restraint System has compatibility issues between the sensors and self-diagnostic software. That means that in a diagnostic check, the SRS warning light might come on. The problem can trigger severe injury and needs to be dealt with. One issue is that the front airbag will have a delay before inflating in an accident, making it essentially useless. The side impact airbag might not inflate either if the light is lit while the vehicle is moving.
