Fan Transmissions Hi Mon,

Dear Dr. Gil,

So glad to hear you’re reaching for your dreams. Just like the graphic design business, the contactrun app, the transit ads thing and the temps from the Philippines idea. I know someday you will settle down and get a real job. In the meantime, we are happy to support you on this. But just be aware that I don’t think your dad can get his friends to pledge to another Kickstarter thing.

I have been getting these headaches off and on for six months and I was wondering if you could give me any advice. It happens when I’m listening to my collection of 90s rap music and has become quite the nuisance. Is there anything you could recommend or prescribe to help alleviate my condition?

Love, Ma Thanks, Ma. But this is a real job. Unless you meant one that actually pays. Dear Mr. Gil I read your story, “Digit Debacle” in Scifies #1 and I am still really confused by it. What is it that makes sense at the end? I tried to figure it out but couldn’t and for the life of me, it’s driving me crazy! Can you please explain? Thanks. Alfonzo G Thanks for writing in, cousin Al. I know my mom put you up to this and that you’re smart enough to figure it out. And I don’t want to spoil it for the other three people out there who bought Scifies #1, but here’s a clue. How would you count if you only had FOUR fingers? Hope that helps! Hi Mon, Me again. I was wondering if you should have so much swearing in your stories. And that sex scene in “The Hard Code” was a bit much, and with an android! Do you let your kids read this? Perhaps you should tone it down. Why not do something like “Archie” or “Peanuts”? Love, Ma. The kids have seen and heard worse in the movies, Ma. But the truth is, they seem to have no interest in reading my comic books. Kind of like my cooking.

Thanks, Ruford. 1) I am not Ramon Gil, the neurologist. I know he pops up number one on Google but that’s not me. 2) Stop listening to anything from the 90s. That shit causes brain damage. If you must, stick with the 80s. 3) You cheap freeloader! Go see a doctor and pay for it instead of e-mailing for free advice. Dear Editors, I really liked your comic books and would love to contribute. I am an aspiring comic book artist and would love to work for your company as a full-time artist. I am attaching samples of my work. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, Doug. Currently our company is just me and I’m not even full-time. There are no full-time jobs in indie comics. Comic book creators are the modern-day versions of starving artists. We have no cubicles, no health benefits and no 401Ks. We do it because we love it and because we are crazy. Having said all that, we are taking submissions. I will respond to your work privately. Others who may want to submit can send art samples to submissions@scifies.com. Thanks for the letters, everyone (which I really just made up). Please pick up all our titles this month...Silent Running, The Men from DARPA, The Professionals and The Hard Code. All available at Scifies.com!
