Dear Friends: Thank you for your interest in our club calf dispersal. We’ve been breeding club calves as a family since 1995 and have gotten great enjoyment from these cows and the process of making them better. The thrill of raising a great calf, the excitement of selling and showing them, all of the things involved have been great for us. So, the decision to sell them was not an easy one but a necessary one given our current workload and the focus of our operation. We are a family farming operation that has grown in recent years and the demands on our time have gotten too great. Our Angus/Simmental cow herd and bull sale has grown and so has our crop work so, since breeding and selling club calves interferes with our planting, harvesting, and selling bulls, the decision was made to sell the entire club calf herd. Likewise, our children have grown and are interested in some great activities off the farm and we need to make time to participate with them. We have tried several options but the best decision, we think, is just to sell them all and let you take them from here. The cows are great and we will miss them. We’ve been fortunate to raise some great calves over the years and we feel like the best females we’ve ever had are just hitting their stride. We’ll be excited to hear of your successes with these cows because we know there are many top calves in them. In fact, we’ll likely need some of them back for our boys to show because they love the business as well. Call us when they calve and stay in touch. We know you’ll enjoy the cattle and we appreciate all of the support over the years from our great customers. Visit us anytime on the farm and we hope to see you at the auction, Jay Mertens and Families
