Welcome

Teixeira Cattle Co. is a family owned and run cattle & hay ranch. We are not perfect, but we will strive to be. We are working on the quality of our herd, we have cut numbers, shortened up our calving window, using new AI sires, focusing on marbling, birth weights, tenderness and we still want that nice phenotype. We enjoy walking through the bulls and cows, and seeing good feet, structure and a uniformity to the animals. It’s what we like to see. As we start having calves hit the ground, January 1 didn’t disappoint. We had 2 New Year’s calves, a boy and a girl to kick things off, we are awaiting a massive drop of AI & ET calves, it’s really exciting. We hope you are pleased with your calf crops as well, we love hearing from our customers, their excitement too! Thank you all for your faithfulness and belief in our program.

We have very much enjoyed the haying side of things, the people we meet and just the challenge of making nice quality hay. It’s amazing to us that we have been here since 2010, we purchased the ranch and a bull sale came with it and we are pleased to be here and in this community. Since our permanent moved up here we are slowly getting time to do more. We have finally finished the calving barn, which has been a two year project. The heifer calving pen has been completed. The front of our sale barn got an upgrade and we hope to make some changes in the inside within the next couple of years. In this line of work, you work all day and evenings are precious family time, it’s nonstop. One of these days we will have everything dialed in, we are getting there, slowly, but surely.

This past year has been a little exhausting, John’s slow recovery of just building back his muscles have been strenuous, slowly but SURELY! God will help him overcome this. In 2023 we are looking at the JOY in all things, in farming and ranching, it seems something always comes up, breaks or breaks down, something gets in the way or making plans only to have them completely changed! We are choosing to look at life with a smile and laugh. God is in control.

We were grateful and proud of our son Nathan who’s going into his 3rd year of service in the Army. We were happy to have him home through Christmas and New Year’s. We are praying he stays strong mentally and physically through all his endeavors. Joseph is in his Junior year of high school and would love to be on a tractor full time, but he’s still working hard and playing baseball, preparing for a great season. Ben has been all around the surrounding states playing hockey, he has thoroughly enjoyed this new sport, he gets up at 5AM to go to practice and I don’t even have to push him, so that says something!

Allan & Cee have been busy, we sent them to the Angus Convention in Utah, (we are seriously trying to get there again!), then they were in Texas with family in October celebrating their great granddaughter’s 1st birthday, and they went to Aficia on a missions trip in November and had a wonderful time! We are grateful for their health and happy they can go and do all these things!

Working alongside us, we cannot thank our crew enough, Ricardo, Nicolas and Emmanuel for our daily work load. We always say we have a list of projects that just keeps growing, one day they will all be checked off…right?
