Welcome to the CX Advantage Sale 2013… COX EXCALIBUR and our Production Partners want to welcome everyone to our 11th CX Advantage Sale. We are blessed as breeders to be in a Great Breed of Cattle and to watch the demand for cattle grow around the world. Looking back over the last 30 years of Cox Excalibur being in the cattle business, I don’t think I have seen a better time to be in the cattle business and especially Red and Black Brangus. The demand is not just for BEEF, but also our breed of cattle. Breeders around the world are catching on to these cattle that will grow on grass in hot, humid, tropical climates, where the largest percent of cattle are in the world. Breeders and cattlemen are also noticing how well these cattle grade and perform. Selling pounds of beef that can marble will produce a product that the customer and packers are demanding. Brangus and Red Brangus fit that demand. Take a close look at how the cattle are scanning with ultrasound and with the majority of our cattle coming in with the right size ribeye, high IMF, (intramuscular) fat and very low back fat. These traits are hereditary and important to the growth of our breed. The U.S Cattle Herd has continued to decline. Over the last few years with the drought and some other factors, the total herd of cattle has shrunk and has been in decline for years. With the growing population around the world and the demand for beef growing, that has kept prices high and probably going higher. The seedstock business has always benefited after a herd reduction and we have been seeing that in the demand for bulls and the prices being higher than normal. Even the prices for heifers have risen with new breeders wanting to get started in Red Brangus from Mexico, South America, and Central America. We encourage you to stay focused on breeding better cattle, and collecting data to support your program. Over the last 30 years, we at Cox Excalibur are thankful for our repeat customers and the new breeders selecting us to help them get started in Red Brangus. A new addition to Cox Excalibur is we are now offering our Black Brangus customers a choice on genetics we have been developing and breeding The Don Cox Family for over 15 years. We have followed the Black cattle for years and are determined to breed and develop some of the best genetics possible. Our customers in South America look at Brangus as Red or Black. Jose and I work hard to produce cattle that grow on grass and will perform. Jose loves the cattle and believe me he knows what cattle work for our customers. Jose has helped build Cox Excalibur into a ranch that has sold cattle in 10 countries and many of those customers are repeat cusJose Ramirez tomers. That is what is important to us, we want our customers to be successful and be repeat customers for our new genetics. Your success is our success; we hope you find the cattle you are looking for at Cox Excalibur and in the CX Advantage Sale 2013.

CX FFA Donation Program Makes Headlines Reprinted from the Weimar Mercury
Cox Excalibur Donates To Weimar, Columbus FFA
Every year for the past 10 years, Cox Excalibur Brangus of Weimar has donated a heifer to be sold at the CX Advantage Sale held at the ranch to benefit the Weimar and Columbus FFA chapters. Don Cox explains to the crowd every year that these FFA students are the future to the cattle industry and our country. “We need to make sure they have the resources available for projects and trips.” Cox Excalibur has donated a heifer to sell and every dollar raised from the sale of the heifer and donations made directly from the crowd are split equally between Weimar and Columbus FFA chapters. There has been almost $50,000 donated by Don and Gina Cox to the FFA chapters. And, in October 2012, there was a record amount donated because the first bidder, Jon Marshal of Katy, bid $3,500 and then said, “Sell her again.” Jon is a very generous man who believes in our youth and the livestock industry. His donation of $3,500 started a trend. The donation heifer bidding started again and the bid of $2,800 was won by Joe Dillard of Dillard Land and Cattle of Muldoon. And Joe said, “Sell her again.” The third bidding began and at the end Joe Dillard won the bid and paid another $2,500 for a total of $5,300 from Dillard Land and Cattle. Don Cox was stunned that two breeders turned the heifer back to sell again and raised more dollars for our FFA kids. The total raised for the heifer after the crowd donated in an open auction was $10,250. The FFA students from Weimar and Columbus are always at the sale to help make sure ice and drinks are set up, chairs and tables are in place, helping the auctioneer with taking bids and assisting in the overall preparation for the sale. One of Don Cox’s favorite memories from his generous donations to the FFA chapters was the day he was shopping at McCoy’s. A young man approached him and said, “Mr. Cox how are you doing? I am one of the FFA students who used to come to your sale and I want to thank you.” He went on to say, “I was one of the students who got to fly to Washington, DC and I got to see Congress and much more. It was a great trip and I had never been out of Colorado County. That was a trip I will never forget and I wanted to thank you.” Don Cox said, “That he will never forget the look and sincerity on the young man’s face. That is why we do it.” Our FFA students are our future and we are pleased to be able to help and donate a heifer every year. Don Cox also is thankful for all the work the FFA teachers and sponsors do for these kids and wants to express his thanks to Liz Treptow of Weimar FFA and Kevin Page of Columbus chapters.
A special thanks to all those who made a contribution to the FFA Chapters and to Jon Marshall (left) and Joe Dillard (right) for purchasing the 2012 Donation Heifer

A special Dream daughter that is double bred top and bottom by CX Legend 46/P2. When examining the bottom side of her pedigree you will see DC Mike 54/3 one of the best ever Dogwood Creek Herd Sires. He was named Mike after the Ranch manager who thought he was the best bull they ever raised. His natural muscle and easy doing nature produced some of the best animals ever at Dogwood Creek. When they were dispersing, Cox Excalibur had the opportunity to select from the entire herd before they were offered to the public and we bought all the Mike 54/3 daughters we could. Strong EPDs both on performance and carcass numbers. Selling pasture exposed to the 2012 Grand Champion Bull in Houston, -C- Prince 30W from 8/28/13 to 10/11/13.

Her sire, CX Meathouse 930/U, was a two time Grand Champion at the Brangus Futurity in 2010 and also at the Western National. His calves are setting some records at CX with his being extremely long, phenotypically correct, lots of thickness and natural muscle. One important fact about Meathouse is you can put him on 100% grass breeding cattle in the middle of the summer and when you take him off he hasn’t lost hardly any body condition. With the sire of CX Promise Keeper 84/R being CX Promise 37/K, you have a three time Grand Champion with sons and daughter setting records in the Red Brangus Breed. You have the outstanding Red Angus Sire, Leachman Heavenly 8141 who stands at the top of Red Angus in many categories, and on bottom side you have Windac Predominant 706/0 the Grand Champion Bull for the ‘90s. On the maternal side of this pedigree don't overlook the El Cid 52/U5 and Tremor's Levy the sire of the Grand Champion Miss HS 198/4. Tremor's Levy pedigree goes back to Rocky Joe, one of the bulls that you will find in the foundation animals of Brangus. With this young Herd Sire we are already seeing tremendous calves and will be showing some of his first calf crop in our CX Show string. He adds length, depth, width and bone to his progeny. We are offering two heifers by CX Promise Keeper 84R, don't miss your opportunity to own these genetics.

A daughter of the two-time Grand Champion CX Promise Keeper 84R from the 2007 Brangus Futurity and the State Fair of Texas. When you examine this pedigree you get the advantage of cattle that perform in the pasture and show ring. The HS 198/4 cow as I had mentioned earlier was one of the best Red Brangus cows I ever saw win Grand Champion in Houston. When we added the bloodlines at the bottom of this pedigree we have been very pleased with the results. If you are looking to add some consistency to your herd, you have three heifers out of the 36 cow family that can do that for you. One of the best milking cows at Cox Excalibur is out of the 36 cow family and half sibling to these 36 heifers. This 36Z1 heifer has two of the best Sureway herd sires in the pedigree. Jim and Linda Hunt were great breeders and when they used Mr Easy 600J and Premier’s 905E in the same breeding, they knew they would get a good result. When we combined that with the Promise Keeper line of genetics you get balanced EPDs with good carcass numbers and proven milking ability on grass. Take all 3 of them home to get some consistency in your herd. Selling pasture exposed to the 2012 Grand Champion Bull in Houston, -C- Prince 30W from 8/28/13 to 10/11/13. Lot

FFA Donation Lot…A very close genetic package to the 36Z3 heifer. This 70 cow family has been very good when crossing to our CX Herd Sires. Very consistent and balanced EPDs. Selling pasture exposed to the 2012 Grand Champion Bull in Houston, -C- Prince 30W from 8/28/13 to 10/11/13.
CX HOME RUN 135/P 2010-11 & 2011-12 Show Bull of the Year and Sire of the 2008-09 Show Bull & Show Heifer of the Year CX Home Run 135/P continues to impress breeders all over the world. At the Brangus Futurity in West Monroe this year, Home Run was awarded the Show Bull of the Year for 2011-12. He continues to produce Champions and top selling cattle all over the world. In this year's sale we are offering nine top heifers, one show heifer, and three top herd sire prospects. We believe Home Run will be one of those bulls that will still be used many years from now. We have had customers tell us that is doesn't matter what kind of cow you breed Home Run to, whether it is an average or below average cow, the calves are great. That is a mark of a true herd sire when their calves are good across the board. Another strong point of Home Run is he will add natural fleshing to his calves with plenty of depth, thickness and bone. His sons and daughters are now producing Champions just like their sire. These nine Home Run daughters pasture exposed to CX Meathouse 930/U should be a combination that anyone will be proud to own. We think Meathouse will be another outstanding son of CX Payload 307/L1. The mating of Payload bloodline with the Home Run bloodline should be exceptional. Take advantage of over 28 years of stacking genetics to get to the CX line of Home Run genetics. If I were starting a herd of Red Brangus today, I would definitely have as many Home Run daughters as I could afford in my herd. If you already have a herd of Red Brangus, you won't be sorry to add a Home Run son as your herd sire. His ultrasound and performance numbers along with his easy fleshing type of cattle are what we need in today's cattle industry. Sire of Lots 7, 33, 34

One of two Paymaker daughters we are selling in this sale. Same story as the 133Z, Paymaker daughter with Promise Keeper added to her pedigree. I can say this with confidence, it’s been many years since we sold a Sensation daughter out of the 745 cow family. Those two families helped give us a great start and win many Championships for CX. Sensation would be 25 years old today if he were still alive, but one thing for sure, his genetics are used every year by top cattleman around the world. Last count he had produced 18 Grand Champions in seven countries. I just wish I would have been smart enough to get pictures from all the people over the years who said he is one of the best bulls they had ever seen. Here is your chance to own a Sensation daughter out of one of the top donor cow families Cox Excalibur ever owned.Selling pasture exposed to the 2012 Grand Champion Bull in Houston, -C- Prince 30W from 8/28/13 to 10/11/13.

A Black Diamond 36U daughter with two Summit Sires on the bottom side. In Black Brangus you don’t have to look far to see the high quality cattle produced by Bright Side 789G5 and News Maker of Brinks 71Z4. When we started breeding Black Brangus we were very selective in cattle that don’t have to have a feed bin in front of them 24 hours. We cull hard and have made some mistakes, but when we breed Black Diamond 36U to some of the Brinks bloodlines, we get great results. Our customers that have bought Black cattle from us say, these cattle really perform in the pasture. Real simple is they can’t grow on grass we don’t need them and neither do you. Selling bred to SBR Night Train 781RZ, safe in calf 1st trimester. SBR Night Train 781RZ is one of the up and coming powerful Herd Sire Prospects in Brangus. We are selling full possession and ½ embryo interest in this heifer. Buffaloe’s Ms Powerman 124Z2 is an AI calf sired by the great CX Powerman 307/H bull. I doubt that you will ever see another opportunity to buy a Powerman daughter or any other granddaughters of the great CX 307/O cow. Don Cox will tell you that 307/0 was without a doubt the best cow he ever raised or owned. Too boot, her dam is our donor 124S3 who was the cow in the 2011 Brangus Futurity Cow/Calf Champion. It does not get any better than this. Why would we sell heifers with this pedigree? Drought has forced the liquidation of many of our cows and we are forced to feed the rest. We are also blessed by having two embryo, full sisters to take her place. Don’t miss adding foundation CX and Buffaloe genetics to your herd. You won’t have this opportunity again.124Z2 is exposed to Buffaloe’s Gladiator 124Z who is from the same cow family but not closely related. He is a BKC Superman 101U son. BCC NB Ms Superman 237Z is an AI calf sired by the outstanding bull, BKC Legacys Superman 101U. Superman comes from a powerful female raised by Buffaloe Cattle Company and sold to BKC Ranch to start their herd. Buffaloe’s 101 blood line came from CX genetics when we purchased the great female, 101/G, from Don Cox. The 237 cow family is also CX breeding from CX 237/H, a donor cow owned with Cox Excalibur. The 237Z heifer has been in the show ring with a junior for the last year. She is extremely docile and loves hand outs. 237 has been exposed to a Triangle K Bull, TK Highlands 101X6 and later to a Superman son, Buffaloe’s Gladiator 124Z. Buffaloe’s Ms Vincent 265A is a show heifer prospect with a long, deep and thick body. She is sired by Buffaloes Vincent 07X, one of our young herd sires who is a Rocky Street son. His dam, BCC Chiefs Squaw 7P, was Grand Champion in the 2006 San Antonio Show and Brangus Futurity and is our leading donor cow. 265A’s bottom side is derived from BCC Boxcar 348N, senior champion in the 2006 shows and Sureway’s 265 bloodline. Her dam, 265T, produced a great Rocky Street Show heifer two years ago and repeated with 265A. This heifer traces top and bottom of her pedigree to CX Chief Cardinal 847/G which we believe is the best Red Brangus bull that we have ever seen. Don’t miss adding solid CX and Buffaloe genetics to your herd and as a bonus have the opportunity to lead her in the show ring.
