Our Story

Our journey in Agriculture began in 1891 with the marriage of David James Williams to Jeanette Bain Cravey and the deeding of the homeplace by her father Captain John Cravey. Our sale site is located across from the original farm house where my brother Derek and his family reside. Adjoining property was added by our grandfather Dave M. Williams and our father David T. Williams.

Livestock in the early years consisted of pigs, chickens, mules, and cattle. Crops such as corn, wheat, oats, soybeans, and peanuts were grown for feed and sale. Our Grandfather sold steers once a year to an order buyer for 10 dollars each. Cattle were mostly free range and steers only penned for fattening. Mules for plowing were shipped in from Missouri by railcar. Pine trees occupied a majority of the acreage and were chipped and dipped for their tar. Our Uncle Grady Williams who worked as a State Forest Ranger became an expert in this area.

In 1980, Dad brought the first Angus cattle in with the purchasing of the entire heifer crop from Mr. Madison Jones of Reedy Creek Angus in Surrency, GA. In 1989, Black Simmental genetics were added. We began to market cattle in State Association sales and test stations. We were blessed to have raised high sellers in Tifton and Calhoun bull tests and also a top seller in the famed Dynamic Dams Sale. In 1989, Charles and Wynder Smith invited us to sale our cows with them in their annual sale in Wadley, GA. We are forever grateful to this special family for providing us this opportunity. In 1999, we held our first production sale at our farm and have continued to do so each year.

Our goal is to continue to grow our farm through the Angus industry and other agricultural opportunities. We are blessed to have our fifth generation family members Drew (Sarah), Daniel (Holly), Hannah, Davis, and Sarah Grace working and participating on the farm. We would also like to introduce the first member of our sixth generation, my grandson, Dutton James Williams!
