Neighborhood Relations

The scale of public space between buildings transformed from linear street space to a square-like space. The continuous elevation surface aside the street space disappeared when the scale was enlarged.

It is convenient for residences who live close to street space to engage in public activities; whereas occupants in high-rise building are visually and acoustically isolated from street life, public activities are operated more in purpose.

Main Auditorium, covered with transparent glass with frosted pattern. The double skin facade is able to adjust in door temporature.

FORM ADJUSTMENT

Entrances are set on both east side and west side of the building, allowing users to go across freely.

Small Auditorium, covered with rough concrete, respounding to the roughness of Bird Library.

Underground tunnel, connecting to the basement of Bird Library, also serve as part of book storage space.

The landscape inside the quarter would attach to the park which provides residents more opportunities to enjoy better environment.

Two grounds are linked by an axis. The main entrance of the quarter would be set on the southern end of the axis.

The landscape axis will across to the north-south axis.

An east-west axis will be set. Three axis will corss, and transportation will be solved by a three layers space system.

The space of new quarter would become more open that allows people to go in and out from 6 directions.

The factory (red parts) and four grounds (green parts) are remained as significant components of design.

The site locates in the downtown area of tampere, with a space of triangle.

Customers will come from both sides of the site.

Two entrances are opened to form a circulation axis in the middle of the site.

The trasportation axis devided the structure volume into 2 parts, a private one and a public one.

On the site it is easy to have a good view of the lake on the north and the stadium on the west.

In order to obtain a better view I change the volume into dentrue shape.

The volume is reformed to create a more interesting space.

The private part and the public part are linked by few channels.
