Labour Rose News from your local Labour team

Cllr Mick Lyons says: “We are arguing for the concerns of local people to be properly listened to, and asking the Council to review their decision and not build the incinerator so near to local people’s homes.” Incinerator Special

The Incinerator: - Not near our homes! George Mudie MP and Temple Newsam Councillors Mick Lyons, Judith Cummins and Katherine Mitchell, joined local people to demonstrate against plans to build an incinerator on the former Cross Green Market site on Pontefract Lane. (pictured left). Local resident, Gladys Townsend says, “The one message we want to send to Leeds City Council about the incinerator is – not near our homes.”

George Mudie MP says, “It is clear to me that we do not need a further incinerator in East Leeds, when there are other incinerators in and around the city that are being under-used. I am absolutely opposed to the decision to build this incinerator on the former Cross Green Market site, and will push hard along with your local councillors to help Leeds City Council see sense.” Cllr Katherine Mitchell says, “Objections against the incinerator should be sent before 6th December 2012, to Leeds City Councils Planning Department. To get your voice heard you can use the letter on the back of this leaflet, adding any other issues you have. Sign, address and post the letter to the planning department, or e-mail your objections to dec@leeds.gov.uk.”

Pictured above Cllr Katherine Mitchell, Cllr Mick Lyons, George Mudie MP and Cllr Judith Cummins, show their opposition to the siting of the incinerator. Cllr Judith Cummins says, “We have objected to these plans and will continue to campaign alongside local residents to stop the incinerator being built so near to homes.”
