LEGO HOME by Rasmus Fachmann
The idea For more than half a century the LEGO brick has helped to shape children’s minds. Many who grew up with LEGO bricks, are still playing with them today. They have made fan clubs, web sites, organized exhibitions and much more, all based on their passion for the LEGO brick. When they look at their collection or finally find the missing set on eBay, they get a glimpse of the unique feeling they got as a kid when they saw the 7740 Inter-City Passenger Train or 497 Galaxy Explorer in the toy store, a magazine or a commercial on TV. I dream of creating a place where all LEGO fans young and old can see all the greatest LEGO products throughout time and relive these memories once again.
LEGO HOME Is the home of all LEGO products throughout time. It brings together old and new products in a joint exhibition. Each series with their own “room” ,which is expressed in colours, images, video and audio that are true to each series. LEGO HOME relates to all LEGO fans. You can follow LEGO products through time, in a way that will attract both children and adults.
You will experience the evolution of the LEGO brick. And embark on a journey, starting with the first wooden products to this year’s newest release. LEGO HOME is also the place that brings together the various departments of LEGO and LEGOLAND. With its own Business area it will be a natural link that joins the all departments in what it’s all about “play well”.
Location LEGO HOME will be located in the area between Nordmarksvej, Ă…stvej and LEGOLAND. This location grants and easy access from LEGOLAND, LEGOLAND HOTEL, Billund Airport and directly from Nordmarksvej. This location will also be an icon when arriving in to Billund from Vejle.
The location also makes it possible for LEGO HOME to be open all year round. In the high season as part of LEGOLAND, and in the low season, with its own entrance.
The concept A Celebration of the LEGO products throughout the decades The LEGO brick from the 1970’s is still compatible with the bricks of today, and 30 year old sets can still get the attention of a 6 year old kid of today. Because of the timelessness of the LEGO Brick, the concept of LEGO HOME is not a museum as we know it. but more a home where each LEGO set will fell at home in an environment that resonates with its origin.

Individual experience
Products will appear on the shelves as they would if they were sold today. Banner advertising and large displays will be used as it would with any new products in a modern day toy store. This will underline the experience that the past products are as current as the products of today.
Bluetooth environment and apps for smartphones will help to provide information in many languages. Choose your perception point whether it be the making of the LEGO products, collector’s information, product details and many others. This will also help in providing feedback to the future development of LEGO HOME
Advertising Brochures, catalogues, and posters from the series’ period, will be displayed in showcases but also as a part of the decoration of the area. Making of Pictures, video, texts, early models etc, will help to display the work that precedes a LEGO product.

Layout LEGO HOME is designed so that it can operate as part of the LEGOLAND but also be open outside LEGOLAND’s opening hours. The main building of LEGO HOME will include a main walk leading visitors through LEGO HOME.
The main hall will end with a transition in to the LEGO Brand Store. This should help to complete the experience of LEGO products as a natural symbiotic development. Furthermore, it should also help to maintain the commercial part. LEGO Brand Store will, of course, offers exclusive products from LEGO HOME.
Along the main path you will follow the story of Lego from the beginning with wooden toys to this year’s new products.
There will also be a Business section with meeting rooms, auditorium, etc. which can be used by the individual inhouse units of LEGO and LEGOLAND.
LEGO HOME will be arranged so that there is also room for, fan based, partner exhibitions and future series.
