Outreach + Advocacy
What does RATIO stand for? What drives us? This is something
we’re continuously asking ourselves as we grow and evolve. RATIO prides ourselves on an average of 70% repeat client base. Creating solid and lasting relationships is pivotal to this work.
Outreach
With so many different means of communication in today’s world, it’s important to find the right way to share our story, celebrate our successes and communicate our experience. Through platforms like our website, newsletters and social media, RATIO shares content with clients, consultants and partners. We
aim to connect some of this content to the sustainable strategies that improve performance and occupant health, both on our projects and how we operate our business. Sharing our values and how they play out in practice helps to form connections and adds value to our work.
Membership
RATIO is an active member organization of USGBC, both nationally and locally.
Advocacy
RATIO encourages staff to attend and present at sustainability
focused conferences, workshops, seminars, lectures, and events. The firm encourages participation in professional service and civic organizations, including USGBC local chapters, and promotes the sharing of resources and information across the profession. The firm provides time and reimbursement for membership dues. A goal is for key members within the firm to take active leadership roles within USGBC and similar organizations. For example, in 2016 RATIO employees helped to create AIA COTE Indiana and continue to serve as active members, working on energy code, energy modeling and 2030 Commitment efforts within the Indianapolis area.
Another advocacy goal is to take action on policy issues such as energy codes and climate change.
Community Service
RATIO encourages staff to engage in volunteer activities outside the office. Each office participates in an annual day of service in its community. In addition to volunteerism, RATIO typically contributes at least 1% of total billable hours annually to pro bono work. This work contributes to community development from both an economic and environmental perspective.
