ARTIST STATEMENT The approach of a female as an artist is the approach I have been choosing as an influence of many of my artworks. This approach leads to a greater theme related to the relationship between a human to her life entangled to many of its written and unwritten customs and rules. Also towards questioning the propriety to the norms, belief, superstition, culture, mythology and religious value as a disciplinary tool. My artworks seek to express and to share my life experiences as a woman from the span of childhood into adulthood as well as its struggle of dealing in stressful moments of getting trapped in confusion and fear. Through the art I seek to trace the footstep of various kind of social oppression that has been and still happening within the society. The ability of getting aware intensely in women makes us more sensitive to stares and verbal expression. Especially during the time of adolescence where the anxiety of coming of age was immensely unbearable. The patterns of alienation, denial, pressure, fear of the non-conformity of the demands of peer and society as a whole, boils down to a mental condition of feeling restricted as an adult. My series of artworks have been expressing the facts of the inner turmoil within the human mental state that work as a defense mechanism to fight the trauma schemed by the repetitive conditions caused by the social oppression. Within my artworks I have been questioning the definition of selfhood and pragmatic meaning of an existence, through the process of self-defencing and an overwhelming obidience, to the extense of ignoring the convinience of both body and soul. To be an multidisciplinary artist means to me as having a freedom in choosing the medium of art and material related to each of its function of expression and its language. Within these passing years I have been focusing my interest into performance art and within its exploration I have found that the body has indeed been recording all along various kind of such conditions happened in history and stories related to the dealings of physical and mental states. Within the mastery of performance art, the artist will be fully responsible and capable of the quality of the sincere emotion that will be represented by the art. What soul reveals is to be the revelation to the eyes of the beholder.
