FARMHOUSE Stage: Type :
Schematic design Architecture
Work: Design Tests 2D Drawings 3D Modelling Visualization
A Farmhouse is built on a large uncultivated land in the heart of Al Ain which aims to integrate the project with the landscape as much as possible. The project acts as a retreat where the owner can come in during the off days and use the vastness of the land for agriculture and leisurely activities. The project is divided into volumes of programs. The individual programs allocated to each volume breaks down the scale of the project and gives the house a unique aesthetic and makes it seem less as an object and more of a collection of programs. With the environmental aspects in mind, the project was made more transparent towards the north and serves as a connective element towards the exterior. This interior exterior Relationship allows for a more visual intergration towards the landscape.

DCH DISTRICT Stage: Type :
Schematic design Architecture
Work: Design Tests 2D Drawings 3D Modelling Visualization
A competition held by a leading developer in Dubai, Pragma was invited to develop two clusters of a multi cluster development at an urban scale. Even though the design required was at an urban scale, the use of materials suggest a more domestic approach. Largely inspired by the vernacular architecture of the region, the design of the project was a culmination of both contemporary and vernacular so it doesn’t look too much of either one typology. The use of colors, textures and landscaping was well thought out to bring a more humanized scale to the project. Further more the scale is broken down into mini blocks which projects the cluster as an urban village condition.
17
The ground floor plan consists of F& B on the elevation facing the creek while the elevation facing the interior community courtyard consists of amenities like gym and multi-functional spaces. There are 2 main entrances into the building and one less prominent side entrance.
Following the unit mix stipulated in the design brief, larger units occupy more prominent corners with better views. Unit entrances are placed to open directly to living areas that are in turn located on the building corners. Typical floor plans consists of 1 and 2 bedroom units while the penthouse is consistent of 4 bedrooms.
19
Elevation facing the creek side which inludes the cluster of residential units sitting on a plinth of 2 floors. The 2 lower floors consists of parking and restaurants that face the creek. the lowest level is the deck which consists of seatings and activities that spill out into a large plaza which consists of a running track and designated boat decking areas.
21
The public realm and surrounding landscape stage the architecture and is crucial to the overall reading of the development. The podium at the ground level of Cluster A1 is treated as a more private (residential) zone. This is achieved by inserting pockets of vegetation and planting intermittently a round the buildings.

The villa was divided into a public section and a private section. The general section consists of the main reception area, the council and the catering area overlooking the outdoor garden which is designed with a native typology and acts as a natural landscape for visitors. The private section on the lower floor consists of 2 lounges, a dining area and an indoor play area for outdoor games, all with views of the swimming pool. There is also a service department consisting of a preparatory kitchen, an external kitchen, a laundry room and a maid room. The outdoor spaces include a primary courtyard and a secondary courtyard. The primary courtyard includes a swimming pool and seating area which spills out from the interior dining area thus creating an indoor outdoor condition which could be made most use of when the weather is pleasant.
The use of custom design furniture was essential to bring out the essence of the interiors. These range from zone to zone whether it is to bring comfort or either to emphasize luxury.
25
27
The primary courtyard consists of a minimal swimming pool condition which fences a glass barricade. A water feature has been inculcated into the design which allows a visual flow of water from the west wall towards the swimming pool. The glass partitions of the living and dining areas are retractable and can be utilized when the weather is pleasant.
As per the taste of the client, different elements have been inculcated within the design to emphasize spatial qualities like placing mirrors or wall paintings. The use of installations, whether be it for lighting or for show has been in cooperated to liven the atmosphere. The idea of minimalist design is not so that the design looks spatially empty, but to bring out the best in a space through the use of simple, yet effective elements Every material used in the construction of the interior is well thought out and is to meticulous precisionWW. The use of glass, wood, white gypsum board walls and concrete enforces the minimalist features of the space. The shift in materiality in the flooring follows architectural principles which divide different zones.

ART CENTER Stage: Completed Type : Architecture Work: Design Tests 2D Drawings 3D Modelling Detailing Teammate: Rasha Saffarini A proposed idea for a studio arts center acting as a sister building for the college of arts, architecture and design at the American University of Sharjah. A comprehensive design studio that required the design of almost every aspect of the project including shop drawings and detailed analysis. Starting from a structural plan of a column system that dictated the basement level parking scheme and resulting levels above. Keeping in mind the strategies of design such as density, sun path, wind direction-etc. a well thought out building was proposed with the elements of form and materiality.

HF BOUTIQUE Stage: Completed Type : Architecture Work: Design Tests 2D Drawings 3D Modelling Detailing A restoration project where a villa space was in cooperated for a high end abaya selling boutique. The client required a space with a high sense of luxury and finesse that would bring in customers with a high sense of fashion and style. Using vibrant color palettes linking the zones within the boutique and other design elements to indicate spaces was a key design feature of the boutique. Along with house plants, installations and paintings that are native to the region, the project meshes modern sense of art and architecture all while staying true to the vernacular sense of design. The exterior is treated with the same sense of meticulous design, housing foliage and leisurely areas which do not take away the essence of a boutique, but adds to the already vibrant surrounding, bringing an all round appreciation toward the architecture and design of the space.

Long rectangular plan which begins with a pool and a car entrance and spills into the entrance of the boutique that are broken into zones. Due to the elongated plan, there arose interesting moments for zoning. One example is the shoe and perfume section which acts as a bridge between the entrance and the back side of the boutique. The project terminates with a reception area that acts as the back wall for the dressing room. Every decision made is of functional use due to the limited space. Cloth stands are placed on either side of the walls and in between the structural columns to save space.
1. Waiting Area
2. Perfume Table
The Existing interiors were quite dull and uninspiring. The warm and the earthy tones of the elements did not bring out the boutique atmosphere and hence we had to rethink the color palette and mood of the entire decor.

Planting native plants and using landscape materials that are grounded and more earthy gave the project a desert house style with elements like beige stones, white gravel, ghaf plants as well as cactii, all in cooperated.
57
The use of color is one of the most important aspects of the project. Ranges of pink, red, violet and vibrant tones were primarily used to indicate zones or areas of interest. For example a similar orange wood color was incooperated into few of the functions as seen in the dressing room as well as the reception and perfume sections to allow the continuous flow of design within the project as well as facilitating the major function, which is a luxury boutique.

Magsaf Surround is a full pop-up designed around the best time of school, lunchtime. The experience is designed to carry out the concept through all applications, from menu items to design. The space includes a canteen serving lunchboxes, a playground and a seating area for you and your friends. The design approach is modular and is inspired by Surround’s graph paper grid. The modular design applies to lunchbox design, the shelvings and walls in the space, and finally, the building and playgrounds. When you zoom out to a bird’s eye view, one can see how the urban landscape design also adopts the same modular system in its layout. The space aims to be relaxed, inviting and connected with nature. It is an extension of the restaurant’s vibes where people are allowed to behave as though they are back in their high school’s lunch break.
