Shambhala Territory “There comes a time when all life on earth is in danger. Great barbarian powers have arisen. Although these powers spend their wealth in preparations to annihilate one another, they have much in common: weapons of unfathomable destructive power and technologies that lay waste our world. In this era, when the future of sentient life hangs by the frailest of threads, the kingdom of Shambhala emerges. You cannot go there. It exists in the hearts and minds of the Shambhala warriors. Always these Shambhala men and women must move on the terrain of the barbarians themselves. Now is the time when great courage – moral and physical courage – is required of the Shambhala warriors, for they must go into the very heart of the barbarian power. To dismantle the weapons, in every sense of the term they must go into the corridors of power where the decisions are made. The Shambhala warriors have the courage to do this because they know that these weapons are mind-made. Made by the human mind they can be unmade by the human mind. The Shambhala warriors train in the use of two “weapons”; compassion – the recognition of our pain for the world, and wisdom – the experience of our radical inter-connectedness with all life”. Shambhala prophecy; from an 8th Century Tibetan prophecy – believed by some Tibetans to refer to this time, as told to Joanna Macy by Choegyal Rinpoche.

Green Films TV comprises a collective of cultural creative specialists, independent film-makers and Social Entrepreneurs based in Bristol Green Capital. Our focus is to tell “The Story of Our Times” in such a way as enables people with values and responsibility to lead us from confusion to awareness, out of poverty and exploitation into a people-ready sense of connection with the natural world around us. Our concern is around cultural erosion, loss of habitat, loss of biodiversity, food security and energy security. For those with ears to listen and eyes to see, we advocate a journey of exploration and discovery that re-connects us to the Natural World. Yet it may justly be required of us not to throw away our lives upon inadequate or hopeless designs, since we may, by a just estimate of our abilities become more useful to mankind”. Samuel Johnson - - On The Need for Enterprise – June 4th 1751. “To know what is going on, takes sense. To know what to do about it, takes wisdom.”

Green Films and the Art of Story-telling The appreciation of living harmony is the key to an understanding of natural harmony and self-organisation in the Natural World. This aesthetic response leads to awareness, respect, understanding and care for the intricacies of complex living systems that we depend on for our survival. Through attention, care, nurture and cultivation of the living systems around us our ancestors learnt to discern patterns that worked in their favour. Learning through experience, often from trial and error, they handed down accumulated wisdom, often through ritual and devotion, for countless generations. Take for example, bees.
Bees have a complex society based on co-operation and collaboration. Without the work they do in pollinating flowers, crops would not grow, we would be unable to produce food and our daily lives would collapse. The basis of culture and civilisation is rooted in an attitude of respect and relationship of dependency and co-creation. The Natural World provided our ancestors with inspiration for their stories, songs and lore. Ancient wisdom was passed on through the Elders. They told stories under the stars around the fire, honoured each turn of the seasons and celebrated the produce they cultivated.
“That which is forced, or misunderstood, cannot be beautiful”. Xenophon
2. Systems’ awareness A key element of harnessing the power of natural systems was the process of attention: “reading” the weather, “reading” the landscape for safe shelter, “reading” the countryside for food, listening to each other was also important, for survival depended on co-operation. This was the heart of the co-creative process that used what we call “appreciative enquiry”: deepening understanding and awareness through listening and enquiry, the heart of which is contemplative silence. 3. The Industrial Age A lot has happened since the days of the Ancestors: the Aborigines, the Native Americans, The Ancient Greeks and the Celts. Industrialisation has robbed town dwellers of their previously long-held connection with the surrounding countryside. Industrial Age attitudes to land and the natural countryside, and a mechanised approach to agriculture and food production all mean we are in risk of spoiling our co-creative relationship with the Natural World. We have become lured into the dark side of blind “progress”, with the sole focus on acquisition and industrial-scale domination. Thus, we are now in danger of diminishing the quality of our own lives and livelihoods through ignoring the simple fact, easily overlooked and forgotten that we co-create the quality of our lives as much through co-operation and collaboration as part of an ongoing meaningful engagement and appreciation of the bigger picture. Our casual spending can daily reinforce our habits of dependency on a lifestyle that is damaging for People and threatening for Planet. “Healthy competition” has its place and can sometimes help realise the best of our latent abilities. A climate of relentless competition - left unchecked, rewards greed, and breeds cynicism and despair; this can easily turn to “toxic culture”. Regaining forgotten skill, not entirely lost – depends on our ability to listen and respond creatively in order to restore balance to our lives. Meanwhile those exercising their power will have us compete for whatever we can, so long as they get the rewards. For example, bosses would have us compete for a job when it requires least effort on their part and absolves them of any responsibility. 4. Reclaiming your power – skills relevant to the Information Age One element of reclaiming power is appreciative enquiry – a valuable skill to finding your own way and being heard. The second skill that you can acquire at the same time is the skill to appreciate flow of meaning.
“That which is forced, or misunderstood, cannot be beautiful”. Xenophon
This is something we can all do instinctively; some of us have forgotten. It can be relearned. This ability to discern unspoken meaning is essential for anyone who seeks to lead in any capacity, if only to lead a successful life. The third skill comprises, simply the literate ability of reading. We can all read books and newspapers, drivers read the road, some of us can read music. Almost all of us are instinctively good at reading our closest friends and family. 5. Entering the Creative Age For those who invest the time to learn to “read” the marketplace you will find you can make sense of the world around you and this will enable you to respond in an intelligent way and realise rewards accordingly. 1. The Mission New Economics – Conservation & Education – Economics and Enterprise Culture for 21st Century School of Cultural Entrepreneurs – New Economy –
SCENE
Surely there is no more important task for now and for the future than to prepare emerging leaders. They will need to work across thresholds of difference, sustain their courage, build new capabilities and foster new relationships in a world not seen by previous generations. Throughout 2012-13 Green Films TV through a generous contribution from New Directions Foundation, will design a graduate and undergraduate degree program to prepare the next generation leaders in European and Latin American countries and selected southern African countries in transition and renewal, beginning with Food For Cities in Latin America, the UK, Europe Nigeria and South Africa in line with the Eco-polis Agro-polis model.
At the heart of this program will be an initiative led by Schumacher Partnerships – Economics AS If People Mattered to bring about a shift in thinking and consciousness that can help rising, experienced leaders between 25 and 40 break through long held assumptions about how we frame our systems problem solving and what will be needed to overcome the stereotypes of developing and developed, lesser and more advanced, north and south. Delegates will be asked to exercise their systems thinking skills, to share their successes and their problem-solving approaches on the ground and to draw from the knowledge carefully selected faculty and readings. In short, the focus of this experience will be to participate in the design of Green Films that will communicate best practice deepen their understanding of Cultural Enterprise in their home regions
and countries, and bring fresh perspectives that will enable them to act and engage with the world in new and dynamic ways.
2. The Purpose The purpose of Schumacher Partnerships is to develop knowledge, understanding and insights into change patterns and the need for the renewal of global society through the organizing of workshops, Green Films TV, education programmes and publishing. In short: “helping leaders govern – and thrive from – global interdependence” with a system’s approach and on a platform of values – Economics AS If People Mattered.
3. Our Activities Schumacher Partners have four main areas of activity: 1. Green Films TV These include seminars and workshops, conversations, learning journeys, retreats and yoga holidays most of which are accessible from the broadcast archive. 2. Institute of Strategic Affairs - Foundation for Cultural Studies The process of understanding the world and the cultural trends shaping the future is an absolutely necessary part of Schumacher Partners work. This is an activity that supports our creative process and our ability to communicate and to develop a presence in various constituencies. Previously, reports and papers have been published, such as “Resilience, Renewal and Renewables Responding to the Call for Resilience”.
. 3. Schumacher Partners’ Education Programs – School of Cultural Entrepreneurs - SCENE These programs intend to give leaders new insights and prepare them to better base their actions on a systems approach. Some programs are short, one-off events, such as learning journeys to understand the economy and ecology of the future through the prism of Economics and Ecology. Other programs are processes gathering larger groups, such As New Leader Program, an intensive reflective and pedagogical process that examines challenges facing a new generation of leaders.
4. Schumacher Partnerships Curricular Development and Broadcast – Fair Trade Economic Foundation This category includes assignments that the Schumacher Partners receives from both public and private sector organizations, universities, local authorities, institutions and enterprises to help them change their conceptual understanding of the operating environments in which they operate. We bring a systems approach to: Economy, Enterprise, Management, Leadership, Energy, Healthcare, Education, Security, Development, Government, Environment, Technology, and New Science.
Speaker Assignments In addition, to further Partnership knowledge and methodology, several team members regularly accept assignments as speakers and moderators in conferences with relevant themes. Workshops with 25-100 participants are organized in the UK and around the world. They are part of the Schumacher Partnerships Process. Conversations are shorter events lasting from a half to two days for small select groups of leaders, on a specific subject and with the help of key people from the Schumacher Partnership Network.
4. Join Us – Green Films TV Why you should join the Network Schumacher Partnerships Green Films TV offers cognitive/learning processes – The Forum, learning journeys, workshops, studies and systems designs, an ever expanding search for the deeper understanding of the contexts in which we act. Green Films TV is convening leaders to workshops in locations all over the world. Green Films TV is a search organization in the interest of “the whole”. Thus, we do not work in any specific stakeholder’s interest. Schumacher Partnerships is a “think-and-do-tank” that combines analytical foresight – it has repeatedly been among the first to raise new important questions – and knowledge and experience in change management – which means it is realistic and mature in its outlook. Green Films TV opens up the doors to the future in the making by consistently delivering successful insightcreating processes.
This comes from the belief that large-scale change comes when leaders gain new insights – and act on them. It does so through a delicate blend of thought-provoking presentations, discourse, structured discussions and informal conversations, complemented with performances of music and literature and time spent in nature to retreat and reflect on: Program and process development within the following areas: - further development and documentation of the Green Films TV methodology - a more ambitious worldwide program of Green Films TV workshops and the Partnership Forum - further development of the successful concept/service of learning journeys - further development of the educational programs, especially for young leaders - concept development of several cultural studies programmes - further development of the advisory capacity of the Foundation.

5. Methodology Schumacher Partnership works as a guide in Systems Thinking, bringing together the best thinkers and influential leaders for explorative conversations to understand emerging forces and actors shaping the future. It possesses very strong analytical skills and access to information and insights, as well as the ability to use the analyses in its projects. Its world-class competence in process design and event production is proven. The Partnership is intent on strengthening this position even more. The Partnership also functions as a catalyst of Systems Designs, by launching projects that bring new ideas to the world.
It does so by gathering parties who otherwise do not work together in innovative processes. Its position as an independent connector and interactor makes Schumacher Partners uniquely suited for this task and its successes so far are remarkable. This is an area that the Partnership wishes to strengthen, and by doing so be an important agent of change in the task of addressing some of the major and converging challenges of our time. By joining the Network, you participate in a unique brand that has come to represent foresight, openness and innovation.
You also invest in a tight and very efficient team of professionals who provide the ideas and analyses, produce the events and manage the network. Under the leadership and inspiration behind Green Films TV a team of analysts, strategists and operatives have developed the competence and experience to be the new generation that will take the Partnership into the future.

“Urban poverty tends to be fuelled by people migrating towards the cities in an attempt to escape the deprivations associated with rural livelihoods. Partly due to the rural decline, the world is urbanizing at a fast pace and it will not be long before a greater part of developing country populations is living in large cities. Therefore, urban food security and its related problems should also be placed high on the agenda in the years to come”.
Start a School – School of Cultural Entrepreneurs – New Economy At Berlin Technology Hub we believe that there are potential Cultural Entrepreneurs in every community. We want to help them flourish by increasing the availability of the SCENE programme across Europe, Asia and the Americas. That is why Berlin Technology Hub – SCENE has established an outreach programme.
To achieve this outreach, SCENE is interested in talking to other organisations who may be interested in Food for Cities, Eco-polis or Agropolis model, Cultural Enterprise, New Economy or Commonwealth Strategy for BRIC countries and establishing an Associate School in their area. Our approach to replication – introducing the methods of: www.the-hub.net Just like The Hub, The SCENE School's Network works as a social franchise: local independent, community-led agencies are licensed to create and run programmes with guidance on design, learning and quality. The same characteristics that we instill in our students (engaged with community, entrepreneurial, experienced, committed etc.) are those that we seek in our local and regional partners.
“The task of feeding the world's cities adequately constitutes an increasingly pressing challenge, requiring the co-ordinated
interaction of food producers, transporters, market operators and a myriad of retail sellers. It also requires constant improvements in the quality of transport and distribution systems. Not least, it involves a shared understanding among city officials and national and international development agencies of the common problems and the potential solutions faced when seeking to feed cities on a sustainable basis”.

The core services provided to the Network include a quality system, best practice guide, branding (literature and materials), web, Governance, public relations policy work, media and PR, and internal/external profitability evaluation. What is a social franchise? The Hub demonstrates how Social Franchising is a way in which the one systematically replicates the social impact of what we do, namely, to increase the support to social entrepreneurs through our action learning programmes.

What does the Hub network look like? Hub network has been supporting Social Entrepreneurs throughout Europe with SCENE providing access to learning programmes in the UK and internationally (Prague & Stockholm, Australia and Canada). There are SCENE programmes actively running in 25 locations network-wide. We operate as social franchise, providing a best practice and quality system working with local partners to achieve maximum social benefit.
What we look for in our partners We look for partner organisations that have a commitment to the belief that individuals are the catalyst for change and that social entrepreneurship is a powerful driver in creating and sustaining positive social change. “The task of feeding the world's cities adequately constitutes an increasingly pressing challenge, requiring the co-ordinated

The organisation will have a track record within a region and an entrepreneurial outlook.
Partners need to be involved in the regeneration of communities that suffer multiple deprivation. They need to be well networked in their proposed area of operation, with links in the community, in local government and statutory regeneration agencies and in business. How are the schools funded? There is no set model to how schools are funded. New school funding usually involves a larger investment initially from one of the below and maybe be funded by a mixture of these later on • Trusts & Foundations • Local government • Regional government • European funding (ESF, ERDF) • Philanthropists/ community foundations • Business • Student fees • Housing Associations • Other agencies (NDC's, regeneration agencies, support agencies) I think our area needs a School for Social Entrepreneurs but I don't think my organisation is best placed to be the partner, what can I do? “The task of feeding the world's cities adequately constitutes an increasingly pressing challenge, requiring the co-ordinated

Climate Change Climate change is not an isolated, discrete challenge. It is, on the contrary, at the nexus of how human behaviour is altering the fundamental cycles of nature that have enabled our planet to emerge over geologic time from a cosmic boulder surrounded by toxic gases to the blue planet teeming with life. Framed this way, new solutions emerge about how to address the challenge of climate change. There is compelling evidence all around the world that if we understand ecosystem function, then we don’t have to degrade it. Research and documentation show that soil moisture, relative humidity, temperature, microclimates, and soil fertility are dynamic, and human actions significantly determine whether these are lost in a vicious cycle or accumulate in a virtuous circle. By understanding the scientific principles that regulate the water cycle, biomass, biodiversity and accumulated organic matter, it is possible to not only protect existing healthy ecosystems but to restore ecosystems that have been degraded either recently or over historical time. A functional methodology for employing the desperately poor in this restoration work has also been successfully demonstrated and documented, and has the potential to lift tens if not hundreds of millions of people out of an entrenched cycle of endemic poverty. “That which is forced, or misunderstood, can never be beautiful”. Xenophon For more than ten years, John D. Liu, the Environmental Education Media Project and colleagues around the world have been identifying best practices and documenting effective methods for large-scale restoration of damaged or destroyed ecosystems. On the Loess Plateau, an area the size of Belgium has been successfully restored over ten years. A barren, brown landscape, denuded and degraded, has been brought back to life; a people entrenched in back-breaking poverty now work, farm, herd, and live, in a functioning, green ecosystem where rainfall infiltrates, water is retained and crops are readied for export. Firmly rooted in science, and synthesizing knowledge and experience across myriad disciplines, this story has primarily been told – so far – through more than 170 direct presentations. From Kigali to London, from Addis Ababa to Paris, from Beijing to Bangkok we have spoken to bankers, students, presidents, journalists, and scientists. The potential to scale this demonstrated success has been specifically recognized by The World Bank, The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), The Jane Goodall Institute, and the Rothamsted Research Institute. Nations are also beginning to see the vast potential of this approach. The government of President HE Paul Kagame in Rwanda, for example, has adopted a new national land-use policy based on EEMP’s presentations and analysis.
Jonathan J. Halperin, Executive Director of the EEMP, is based in Washington, DC, and has more than 25years of management, communications, research, and campaigning experience with non-profit and commercial organizations such as SustainAbility, Resources for the Future, and FYI Resources for a Changing World. Halperin has devoted most of his professional career to helping clients, journalists, business leaders, and activists work effectively at the nexus of public policy, energy, environmental, and social issues and attitudes.

www.zuricheunomia.wordpress.com www.adamsmithwealthofnations.wordpress.com The unregulated pursuit of self-interest threatens to make beggars of us all. The recent report published by Chatham House – Resource Futures – indicates this is so. The Nation State is beggared by porous borders – allowing cyber crime and siphoning off of profits to international tax havens by over-mighty corporations whose sole purpose is to hoover up cash in return for the minimum effort – to the exclusion of national interest – in the name of “capitalism”. Whether or not this is called “capitalism” it is activity that Government has no part to support. At the same time – species are driven to extinction when there is no commercial value attached to their survival. When there is commercial value – they are hunted and poached to extinction in the desperate scramble for cash. The desperate scramble for cash is on imposed on nation states by an over mighty – insufficiently governed financial sector that seeks to appropriate the largest amounts of cash for least effort – opportunistically, using every extractive method at its disposal – gambling with national currencies – to the extent that enforced privation becomes a National Security issue for sovereign states and a threat to national state stability through the influx of refugees and economic refugees for unstable regions of the globe. The answer lies in a step-change to Eco-capitalism – where National Borders are respected – security issues are addressed – Respect for Life and the Conditions of Life is upheld and one where Economics As If People Mattered and The Economics of Good and Evil inform best practice. Party to these arrangements are institutions, organisations, universities, local authorities, insurers, the ethical finance sector and those engaged in supporting economic regeneration and community-led regenerative cities in a Town & Country Planning initiative based on the Eco-polis – Agropolis model that addresses food security and energy security for towns and cities – favoured by www.futurepolicy.org and The Heinrich Boll Foundation. www.nonexecdirectors.wordpress.com www.marketfocusreports.wordpress.com www.leocreativeagencylondon.wordpress.com

The Four Noble Truths
Natural Law Commonwealth Strategy for BRIC Countries
This is Commonwealth strategy for BRIC countries based on Africa as a self-reliant continent – exporting her surplus to feed the world. The same strategy can be used for the continent of Latin America and as national security policy for Nation States. The above is in accord with the United Nations Environment Programme – United Nations Programme for Responsible Investment and United Nations’ Principles of Sustainable Insurance. To realise the above ends – Agricultural Policy based on respect, care for and stewardship of the Earth calls to be made in conjunction with a Social Contract between Crown – Law and People that understands and applies the work of The Jubilee Centre, The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith , a Theory Concerning Moral Sentiments, by Adam Smith, The Open Society Foundation and the demands of Eco-capitalism that call for an understanding of Stable State Economics, Stable state Governance, Stable State Prosperity and stable State Currency. Currency regulation – indicated and defined by appropriate understanding of Natural Law as indicated by and provided for by the terms of the Social Contract – is indicated by a phenomenon known as the Reversal of Gresham’s law. Gresham’s Law states that “bad money drives out good”. With the appropriate recognition of appropriate value – stable state currency – value recognition means the reversal of this. “Good money drives out bad”. This is the end of the Social Contract. Inclusive capitalism is a term composed of two complementary meanings: (1) poverty is a significant, systemic problem in countries which have already embraced or are transitioning towards capitalistic economies, and (2) companies and non-governmental organizations can sell goods and services to low-income people, which may lead to targeted poverty alleviation strategies, including improving people’s nutrition, health care, education, employment and environment, but not their political power. In ecology, sustainability is how biological systems remain diverse and productive. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems. In more general terms, sustainability is the endurance of systems and processes. The organizing principle for sustainability is sustainable development, which includes the four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture.[1] Sustainability science is the study of sustainable development and environmental science. Healthy ecosystems and environments are necessary to the survival of humans and other organisms. Ways of reducing negative human impact areenvironmentally-friendly chemical engineering, environmental resources management and environmental protection. Information is gained from green chemistry, earth science, environmental science and conservation biology.Ecological economics studies the fields of academic research that aim to address human economies and natural ecosystems.
