01 Senior Project : Suburban agriculture development B E I R U T Lebanese University AM4 - Academic Year 2016 - 2017 Among several countries , Lebanon is one of the fertile crescent lands facing the food security crisis . However , there are two gaps contributing to the place where we are today . On one hand , the several socioeconomic and political factors and the obvious rapid urban expansion of Beirut city , playing the major role leading to the
extension of Beirut into the rural suburbs , ending the suburban agriculture phenomena . On the other hand , giving no attention to the traditional agriculture development processes . The project is a part of the urbanrural transition process , presenting the urban ruralcombination and reflecting the urban-scape architecture role.
DESIGN P r o c e s s The site is located in Jamhour , Baabda district. Its area is 14921 sqm , with three roads , one main road two dead-end roads . The challenge was the transformation of the data and analysis into physical architectural forms . The target was to solve the case by creating a multifunctional development complex , containing the main departments, serving the project problematic .

A double grid is formed , assuring on the direct relation between the project and its neighborhood in attaining the projects aim .
The double orientation is an analogy for the relation between built environment representing the urban alignment consideration , and the vacant lots in the site context, representing the availability of agricultural prescence .
The double-grid formed is the basis of the project’s orientation and axes created .
Conceptual , visual and volumetric linkage is done , after the functional , by the architectural elements intervention : The linking recreational platform and the symbolic hanging bridge .
According to the researches and analysis done , the project program was divided into 3 main departments, urban agriculture, researching and exhibition .

Urban Agriculture Block An extroverted block emphasizing on the importance of urban agriculture , and showing the role or architecture in this problematic .
Researching Block A 4700 sqm block containing experimental and researching laboratories and offices .
The Exhibition The goal of this exhibition is to present all the center’s achievements , and to address all the concerns related to agriculture development .
02 Urban confrontation : Mixed-Use Building B E I R U T Lebanese University AM3 - Academic Year 2016 - 2017 The project is a mixed-use tower in the lots 1045 , 1043 , 1066 and 1038 at Mazraa , Beirut . The challenge of this project was the complicated urban context of the site , pointing several issues to fix . Starting from the high population found , into the site zone needs and the way of introducing such a project into a dense region . After completing the diagnosis
and analysis phase , my vision vision was a commercial and offices building , with cultural and educational zones to meet the region needs , due to the number of schools and institutes found , and the expensive lot price . In addition to introducing lowscale urban agriculture processes to emphasize on their importance in such contexts .
DESIGN Parameters Several parameters were taken into consideration to accomplish the disgn process of this project : 1.Human Scale Relation The towers are located in the back space of the lot , taking the main pedestrian walkway into consideration 2.Cultural Perspective A distinctive volume is created with different texture and color , spotting the light on the importance of public libraries 3.Sustainable Traditional Perspective An Interactive space is formed to Confirm the traditional aspect , an outdoor court , attaining sustainable goals 4.The Urban-Scape Influence Urban Garden created to attain micro-economic sustainable issues

PERSPECTIVE
03 Topography Objection : Residential Complex K F A R D E B I A N Lebanese University AM2 - Academic Year 2015 - 2016 The project is a 17,000 sqm residential complex in Kfardebian , 2500 m above sea level , 44 km away from Beirut , with 0.5 total exploitation . The main challenge of the project is dealing with the complexity of the site , with a tough slope of 18% . In addition to defining the project’s program , as a result of analysis and diagnosis , to attain the project’s target .
The design process took into consideration these constraints found , to accomplish an adequate design . My vision was creating a main axis , as a central common zone, attaining vision clearance in both parts , the upper and the lower , formed as a result of the tough slope constraint . It is a leading axis to the central yard and then to the projects multi-functional club .
DESIGN Parameters
The Project’s Program has been defined after the researches and analysis of the surveys done for High-Class families in the site’s zone , and taking into consideration the site slope constraint . As a result , several residential models are designed , villa A , villa B , chalet and studios , targeting several dwellers .

DESIGN Parameters
Villa B : 3 bedroom triplex design It is one of the residential models designed , 240 sqm , 3 bedroom villa . The triplex choice was decided due to the slope found , having a ground floor , first floor and a basement , with outdoor terraces and a pool oriented toward the view .

04 Richard Meier Inspiration : Emergency Hospital S A I D A Lebanese University AM2 - Academic Year 2015 - 2016 The project is an emergency hospital in the lot 1632 , Saida . The challenge is designing with an inspiration from a pioneerarchitect , trying to introduce his philosophy into the project that should be seen as a one of his work . In addition to the complex functional status of such a project . I chose architect Richard Meier to be my inspiration pioneer .
My first step was observing , diagnosing and analyzing his projects to understand his vision and philosophy before strating with the design process . Several inspiration factors were concluded , starting from abstraction , whiteness , modularity , solid-void equilibrium , effects of light and shade , public-private reals interchange ...
DESIGN P r o c e s s Saida city skyline was the first phase of the design process to attain the ‘Linkage to the past’ philosophy . Massing by abstracting the skyline was the second phase , in addition to the factors stated before . White concrete and alucobond were the main materials chosen to attain the ‘exterior meier’s sense’ .

05 Indoor-Outdoor combination : Commercial Center DELEHMIYE Lebanese University AM2 - Academic Year 2015 - 2016 A 12,000 sqm commercial center in delehmiye . My vision was an introduction of a combination between indoor and outdoor senses in a commercial space , attained by
Volumetric relations resulting in different aspects of shopping and sitting zones . The project is a four-floor story , geometrically disconnected in the upper floors to result in different senses of spaces .
DESIGN Parameters
A hanging escalator is introduced to link commercial and restaurants floor , inserting a suspended journey in the project , viewing and presenting the different spaces of the project .

2ND PRIZE COMPETITION WINNER
Participating for the first time in a competition in considered a challenge , in addition to the internal challenges of the project designed . The project is union of tyre municipalities , with specified functions to be designed .
It was very essential to link the project with its region , being the frontage of a historical city . A main volume joining two different functional zones , as an abstraction of the unity after disintegration and invasions that faced the city .

A double-height entrance had been created emphasizing on the unity importance , giving the sense of domination and control of Tyre historical city .
