The project focuses on redesigning a hous ng complex owned by SRC to accommodate a higher density of the emp oyees and their families. The aim is to br ng an improved approach to housing design by enhancing the qua ity of ife for the railway workers and their families.
The site is located in Khartoum city, Sudan near Khartoum CBD with an area of 70600 m2, owned by the SRC (Sudan Railway Cooperation)
With the urban landscape of cities shifting to higher densities, it s inevitable that an increasing number of famil es with children are choosing to live n apartments and medium dens ty housing.
As cities continue to densify and open space becomes increasing y valuable, it is important to ask the quest on “where do the children play?” to ensure the wellbeing of our youngest citizens is nurtured in the planning of c ties.
My ma n concept was to design a children-friendly hous ng complex, to provide comfort for the railway workers and their famil es, and fight the stigma of apartments as unwe coming homes.
Units are positioned at the 3 edges of the site and the services are in the middle to give all the residents an equa access to it.
The buffer s pushed to the northern edge to reduce the train station noise. Also works as the main greenery on the site.
All units are welly ventilated due to the r pos tions ‘north-south’.
Every unit has its own greenery and most of them have roof garden at the 4th f oor
The site is a car- free zone with an exception for emergency cases
Providing opportunity for residents of al ages abilities to play together. 3 generat on play space located in the heart of the site, prov ding a community club for adults, a court for youth and open play ground for chi dren.

This project is my first private design after graduation it's a house own by Mohammed Abda bagi.
Located n Al Ta f, Khartoum with an area of 210m2
The client wanted the first floor for his family and the upper 2 floors with 2 apartments per floor for rent, with external stair.
The main elevation is facing a main street so i replaced the balconies with a semi-open area and used aluminium perforated sheets to keep the privacy of the inhabitants.
